FPE for a Farm cat.
I can shoot .25 Kodiaks @ 1050fps, 43gr EJ’s @ 980fps, and Jerry’s seven rings @ 830fps. I want this cat to die instantly. Should I even try with my Condor or use something else? This cat is using my house as a litter box. When I started the remodel I found 10-15 gallons of shit in the attic. Now that it cant get up there anymore it uses the front step. So it is going to die, and I have many ways to shoot it, but only one thats silent. Other options are anywhere from .22-.50cal.

Got a raccoon a few weeks ago that was a good 3x the size of a cat. A JSB Monster to the head dropped it like a rock.

i nailed a feral cat out in the woods close to 40 miles from any houses with my old condor shooting eunjins at 77 fpe
i nailed him below the tail and rolled him up befor he could screach
That ain’t a Texas heart shot Son! That’s a Cajun Heart Shot. 😆 They like to wait until the Deer pass by in the swamps and nail em up the ass.
They claim it gives the meat a certain Oooo-Weeee that’s some taste there! 😯 😆
Knife is right, if you don’t have close to a 90 degree angle on the front of the skull between the eyes, don’t shoot there, it can be deflected.
I do like the windipipe idea. Never thought of that. Sounds like it would definitely work though.
Hypothetically of course. 😉 😆
well as stated on feral cats give em the ole texas heart shot

We never Even shoot sweet-cuddly little house cats. But I have shot a Shit load of F/C’s over the last couple of years. Well over 60.
One thing I have learned is that if they are hunkered down and looking directly at you, with their head very low, a pellet can glance off the skull. An eye shot works great here. So does just under the chin. It enters the wind pipe, and depending on the angle, it will either smash the back bone/neck bone, or go thru the body cavity really fucking up every thing on the way. I’ve seen a few Kodiaks in .22 go thru the ass from a throat shot. (Keeps the noise down.).
A .25 will smash the shoulderand continue on to do a lot of damage. But a shot just behind the shoulder will get the lungs. A little lower, it will frag the heart.
It’s called a DRT Shot, or Dead Right There!
It’s a Texas thing.
This is only on F/C’s though. I have no idea what it will do to a house cat. 😉

Speaking purely about the possible… 😉 Yes, a Kodiak is more than enough to do the job and you will have the pleasure of recovering the pellet. Not my bag but do as you wish!
You’re right Rowdy, a 7 ring at 830fps is going to be effective from any direction so long as you put it through the vitals. And it will pass through the cat legthwise and still hit the vitals. I’ve got pictures of a deer shot through the heart with a slugs that weighs within a couple grains of a 7 ring and fired with about 100 FPE and that deer did not go 30 yards. Of course this deer was just a bit larger than a cat and the shot was precise and taken after patient waiting for the right shot etc. The whole point is not to say go deer hunting with the 7 rings but to point out that 110 FPE 7rings are an over match for a 10# pest….
I am thinking if the cat gets spooked somewhat before the trigger squeezed, those seven ring slugs humming at those speeds would roll that cat up and drop his ass where ever you hit him, even if all you see is the ass of the cat as he runs off LOL…
Damn dude, 7 ring slugs at 830fps would be way bad ass on many things even bigger than this cat… Even shot right up the ass as it runs off from you… I also agree with Jerry about which ever way you hit the cat, those 7 rings are going and coming right out and through ever bone and organ they hit…
Slugs like these 7 rings, plant the shot right behind the main front shoulder bone area if a side shot view, or right square in the chest if looking at you, the 7 rings will take the heart and lungs with it, as it exits the cats body…
Actually, 920fps kodiak between the eyes of a way overgrown feral cat won’t exit anywhere….
I’m assuming. 😉
Not that it matters, this being a purely hypothetical discussion but a 7 ring at 830 FPS is carrying about 110 FPE which is similar to your average .22LR. More than enough to drop a cat sized pest in short order…. I expect the suggested shot between the eyes will exit out the ass if shooting from the front.
I was just wondering, not that I would ever do such a thing. I will kindly bring it in to the humane society. 😉
That kodiak right to the temple will do the trick. Even between the eyes. It definitely works out to 40 yards between the eyes. Go for the head only, and don’t take the shot unless you know you are going to drop it right there.
Which leads me to my second point. Keep it very very quiet. PETA types freak out when you shoot cats, so we’ll just consider this you being curious from an information standpoint, and my advice above is just giving info. People have gone to jail for shooting cats, so like I said, if you can drop it right there, no problem, if you can’t, don’t take the shot. Either way, keep it subtle, don’t want the wrong people knowing. 😈
