35 or 37″ isn’t too long for a powerful .25/.30 rifle IF a high shot count and “quiet” are in that package.
It takes space to store and slow down air.
I’ll sit on the side lines and see how these FX’s shake out while waiting to see what Ed comes out with.
Not “hate” it’s ignorance. 😉
The Matador Long 22&25 (with the 24″ barrel like the FX with the same length barrel) is 35″ in length.
Ouch!!!!
Its really tough to make a powerful .30 cal airgun in a really compact package that is reliable and has an acceptable shot count. Of course how many 80-100 fpe shots does one really need? The 500 is really long which is why I opted for an Air Ranger but FX makes great guns so you can’t go wrong.
Well it will feel like heaven compared to my 500 so I guess that’s a start. if it shoots like my 500 ill be happy.. Then I can sell the royale and start a .257 build :7:
All love for these very good rifles. 😀 However, I am looking for a .30 bullpup. 37″ isnt a bullpup by any stretch of the imagination IMO. 33″ is getting pretty long for a bullpup but acceptable if its .30 cal. Once one has maneuvered a 27″ standard Cricket around you’ll know what a true bullpup is. Its a slice of heaven. 😎
whats with all the hate …. :3:
Wow. The big one is really big. Ted complained about the Matador long being too big but the large ones are mountain lions not bobcats. I dont think he has tried a Cricket trigger.
Does anyone know if Ted has ever shot a Cricket?
I’m wondering what his take on that trigger is…
Update from Ted….

Yeh for them Tree rats ….
37″ is a showstopper. 😐 There is no fixing that. Counting on a Matador or Cricket now.
Thats sweet… Kinda stinks for those that didn’t get one and put a deposit.. i see they raised there price by 100 bucks it . glad mine is on the brown truck headed east :8:
Specs on the new FX bullpups are available at AoA. The .22 is 29.5″ length which is fine but the .25/.30 is a 37″ bullpup. Seems a bit retarded to have such a long rifle and still call it a bullpup. A Daystate Huntsman is a “rifle” yet is only 36.5″. Price for the .30 is a bit steep too. $2,100 but comes regulated. The jury is still out on real life performances.
Ted in Madison got his I see. Maybe we can get some preliminary numbys.

Everyone has a different preference on gun length and weight. For those who currently have the Royals and wanted the same power in a shorter version, I think that was accomplished by FX for that market. I personally am glad I didn’t put down a deposit on the .25 cal. The 33 inch Cricket was longer than what I wanted so I will be very happy with the .25 cal matador in 29 inch. That’s why we have options people 🙂 I don’t think you can go wrong with any of the three bullpups as long as it fits your needs.
