Getting a new bullpup, Can’t decide!
So I am getting a new .22 bullpup and the candidates are Cricket and Vulcan. It seems to me that the Cricket is more accurate? And also quiet, but if I can get a hold of a Donny LDC then the Vulcan should be quiet too. So what do I do? I pm Donny but he has not replied yet, the thing is I live in Sweden so I’m not sure he will ship it or not.
What I want is:
* Quiet as in backyard friendly
* Accurate
That’s about it :rofl:

Thanks Greg, but that is a lot of money I do not plan on taking it apart at all if I don’t have to. I am not a tuner (allthough I’ve tried) and I am buying it through Sir Ville who will very kindly do the dirty work for me of polishing the barrel, installing a new HST adjuster and whatnot. Basicaly I told him I want a gun that shoots as good as possible with me having to do as little as possible with it apart from actually shooting it.
Hopefully I will be very pleased and if I do have to take it apart, then I will buy a T-handle and copy Ernest video.

Ya, that Donny’s a real nice guy !!
Tighten the hex that’s closest to the receiver first, then remove the TP alignment screw to prevent it from binding in there.
I use a torque wrench and I start out low and finish each criscross sequence at 10in/lbs then 15in/lbs and finally 20 in/lbs.
And don’t forget to fill to 180 bar before applying the torqueing season like Jan said …….

Very nice awnsers guys, really appreciate it. How do I make sure I tighten the screws correctly, do I buy one of those T-handles that Ernest used in a video?
I cannot get a Donny LDC for he does not ship outside of the us, however he is willing to help me Anyways by guidinng me through how to do one myself.
Maybe I’ll try it , however I fear the result, it will probably be louder than without it somehow :rofl: :rofl: :rofl:
For me IMO I do a lot of shooting about 3,000-5,000 pellets a month sometime even more …….
Top filling my 75 cubic CF tank 1-3 times a week with my Omega SC.
If you’ve noticed I’ve collected only pups that have non-spring loaded mags systems just for that reason alone.
By shake loading them it’s so fast and easy, a spring loaded mag for me will take the joy out of my shooting days ……… and gets real old really fast.

If I get real lazy I use my speed loader, it does all 6 mags in about 20 seconds.

Those targets are my friends vulcan cal.22 out of the box… I think no glory…
Regarding to cricket bullpup. Take care about three things…
1/ tighten criscross sequence for barrel &air tube with pressure 170-180bar
2/ stock screw tighten with sense 😛
3/ in wood stock is good to check if air tube is no contact with wood – make free floating air tube – Greg posted some great pictures.
I think cricket has these three “weakness” which is easy to eliminate or minimize them. 😉
Been reading much around here. Most reported near perfect from Out of the Box is the Vulcan. Though I should mention that this refers to the Vulcan 25.
My 22 cricket and 25 cricket are about the same noise level, I have LDC on both of them , If you have big fat fingers and a good back stop do not rule out the 25 Cricket
Both have about the same shot count , Both mine do as Earnest tuned them,
My 25 has a LCD I think from N/C I bought it used, So I am not 100 % sure,,,
My 22 has a Top gun LDC , I did have to drill it out to deal with the extra power of the Cricket,
Both are back yard friendly,
Oh Yea, The 25 does make a lot more noise hitting the target than the 22,
I do plan to find a rubber matt it fit in front of my 2×16 boards behind my bird feeders.
Also makes the sparrows explode a little more than the 22,

I’d go for the Cricket it’s time has proven and it’s very fatefully yours, accurate time and time again ……
It dose like more so then my other pups, a longer break-in time ….. it gets better and better with age, like a fine wine.
Out of box both of mines had no serious issues ever since, not even a leak.
Just make sure to clean the barrel really well and blast the living hell out of it the more the better, it likes it ! 😆
If you can get Donny to make you a SOS, which I’m not sure if he’s still makes them to order ?
It’ll be deadly quite ……….. deader than quite.
A well season Cricket is very hard to beat in the consistently accuracy division. :winkn:

How are the Cricket stocks these days? I consider my .177 cricket to have a nice looking stock, however some people have told me it is better than they have seen. Does this mean the Cricket stocks are bland and boring? Or do they have nice lined walnut stocks just as beautiful as any other walnut

Yeah, but it seems to me after reading this forum that the Cricket has more happy owners and slightly better accuracy, and then there is the noise level, so I have decided upon the Cricket. (Plus the price difference)

Cricket has been around since 2009 and the only thing they changed was adding another stock screw.
Yes. it is not perfect airgun. But neither edgun nor vulcan is.
You know what? After reading a lot of the threads here I have decided that I am not ready to lay the extra money on the vulcan+ldc so I will go with the cricket. Thanks Jan for the support both here and in PM 😀

😆 I use to think that it was expensive too but having expensive guns to use it on it’s priceless to have one !
I use it to torque all my scope rings also …… and what ever torque sensitive like the wife. :rofl:
