gold pellets!
I finally got my Chrony in and did some testing. I got with a Stock SS 28.5 Fpe with 21.1 grain double gold. I got 23 Fpe with 18.1 grain. Not bad for a stock ss. I think I will stick with the Double Gold Kodiaks 21.1 grain. They are more power and keep the barrel cleaner and not to mention accurate. Just so damn expensive!

I think the only advantage of the coppe coating is that it is harder then lead and may have less friction thus means more fps and fpe of a comparible pellet. I know i may be stating the obvious. But lead is the only thing i put through my guns.
What it tells ME is that the plated pellet is giving much less energy transfer to the target.
Now about AF telling you they will damage the bbl.
I doubt that those morons at AF know the difference between the Kod. Double gold, which is a thin plating of copper and the Gamo pellet that is zinc and gold plated. (The zinc pellet can very well damage a precision bbl.) If I have Lane anything at all talking to the people at AF is that they are pompous Ass’s, yet seem to know next to nothing about air guns. 😕 Hell, they know very little about their own products, much less about the bore of a WL bbl.!
The thin copper plating on the Kod’s is there for one reason alone. To keep lean off of your hands for the green freaks. Period.
It isn’t thick enough to damage anything! On the other hand, it is expensive and totally useless, unless you are scared to death of getting a little lean on your pecker when you jerk off, after shooting regular lead pellets. 😉 😆 They have no advantage in the field.
Myth, WL bbls are soft. BS, after working with several of them, I can tell you that they are HARDER than most rimfire bbls! 😉

18.1gr pellets shot at 900FPE carry 8FPE and will go right through 1/4″
plywood at 200yds…. You can’t hit small game at 200yds so it is more
than enough…
Dont get me wrong… I’m not saying that the DG pellets are bad… Not at all. I’ve tested them at various ranges… both the FTS and the Kodiaks. They perform quite the same as their non ‘gold’ counterparts.
I dont see paying the extra for them and I dont think that they offer anything relevant on the regular lead pellets is all I’m saying.

According to Chairgun there is 13.7ft lbs left at 100yards. That is enough for small game.
Yeah it might right what people say about the gold pellets but I still have not seen hard evidence on the Kodiaks double gold. Yeah we can talk about powderburner barrels and what not but what it comes down to is that these pellets are fairly new to the market and need its own testing. I am not convinced and it is because that these pellets are new to the market. Alot of people are set in there old ways and I think that this plays heavy on the thought of using these.

Wow but what is the FPE when it hits. It could be less than 10 FPE when it hits. Might as well hit it with a Blow gun. I will be surprised if that was done with a stock ss even more too.
You might be surprised at what a sub 30 ft lb gun is capable of. My Talon shooting at 27 ft lbs can shoot 1 inch groups at 100 yards.
Yeah but like Blue Jay said about the barrel bothers me. I new that when I purchased the first tin. My thing is I have not lost accuracy in over 4 tins. So can it be?
ivannj, it sounds like you have found a pellet that is perfect for you….
If I needed to kill something @ 100yards I would not think of a Stock SS . I I would have gotten a condor And modded it. The believe SS is built to hunt around 50yrds or so that is why I got it. I don’t think a stock ss Will make it out over 100yrds anyways. The gold pellets group really good with the ss. Every pellet has its work cut out for them and I believe that these gold pellets do exactly what there meant to do and beyond it. Wow keep posting keeping me busy.
