gold pellets!
I finally got my Chrony in and did some testing. I got with a Stock SS 28.5 Fpe with 21.1 grain double gold. I got 23 Fpe with 18.1 grain. Not bad for a stock ss. I think I will stick with the Double Gold Kodiaks 21.1 grain. They are more power and keep the barrel cleaner and not to mention accurate. Just so damn expensive!

I don’t think shooting copper out of your barrel is good at all for the rifling, as you already know the copper jackets are much harder than lead pellets are, what you may not know is the fact that air rifle barrels are made softer than than those on powder burners.
it’s up to you what you want to do with your barrel, but make sure when you replace it that you either keep the old one as a paper weight or state clearly in the f/s add that you used copper pellets with it.
They only penetrate more if you shine them up first. The intense shine will deteriorate your target before the pellet even reaches it. This alone will cause the gold pellets to penetrate farther.

I’d like to see a .22 Kodiak vs. a .22 DG. I be that there is not difference. From what I have been told, the copper coating is incredibly thin, so thin that I don’t believe it will effect your barrel (much harder than copper) or your penetration.
What up Buzzcat! What are you implementing? I am not genius or try to be but its fact. When I shoot at a brick and a lead pellets shatters and when I shoot the gold and almost stays intacked what does that tell you! Look I am just stating the obvious. If you got some info please state it rather than smart remarks.

I believe the regular Kodiaks shoot just as good but not better. The Golds have more penatration due to the copper!
Have you tried regular Kodiaks? They are cheaper and shot just as good or better than the DGs for me.
I shot over a thousand of these and my accuracy is like I fist shot it!!!!!!!!!!!!
So as for destroying the barrel I am not to sure about that.

Damn I don’t know for sure. I do know they are much harder than lead. I wonder why Air Force said not to use them. Cobra Air guns said there the best.
Are they safe to use w/o damaging the barrel? I called Airforce and they told me not to use them.

ivannj, there isn’t any need for that kind of penetration unless you are
planning to take out racoons at 150+yds, or a brick at 150yds…
Penetration is great but at what cost… Have you tried seeing how they
group at 50+yds… Anything less than that and the lead pellets will pass
right through anything you are hunting, plus make a larger wound
channel with the exception of maybe a brick… Most of us are shooting
16.0gr-21.1gr in .22cal with great success and no need for Double Gold…
Now if the Double Gold is shooting 1/4″ groups at 100yds then maybe I
am using the wrong pellets….
