Q:

Gold washer

Anyone know what this gold washer is for? Took my gun apart to add a depinger into the air tube. As I was picking up stuff off the floor I saw it on the ground. Not sure if it is part of the gun or something else. BTW I shat myself degassing this thing. First puff of air was terrifying at 150 bars.

Hey donny why are u putting that in your air tube? If you want less shots per fill just don’t fill it up so much, lot less of a hassle + you won’t lose parts :butkick:

Looks exactly like a transfer port seal !!! Vinyl tubing will only cause loss in shot count

I got 2 guess’s.
1 maybe it’s a washer for the new mounting system on the back or the stock..
2 what bipod do you use…because that looks like the same washer for the atlas bipod.

Ok then you have a later model 25 or 30 cal it’s a support ring for the oring? The pressure on the gauge is atill the pressure in the tube. If you want to know how much less air you have you can get the volume of the vinyl tube by pi*h*(r2 – ri2) 😉

The amount of space taken by that little piece of Vinyl isn´t much. Don´t worry about it. Test shoot and tell if there´s any difference in sound.

It was missing from the location that Wanta pointed out. I could see the indent for it. Next question… I added a 2 inch piece of clear vinyl tubing in the air cylinder. When I fill it up, the pressure that shows up on the gauge should also represent the new mass taking up space in the tube correct? So filling up to 220 bars does not yield the same amount of air as if it was 220 without the depinger. I think I know the answer but just wanted to confirm before I start filling it. By the way squeezing that vinyl tube in there was no fun. Once you’re about 2 inches down, there’s a lip inside that is smaller than the tube so you have to somehow get the vinyl to go into that.

It could also be the transfer port seal as mentioned but on the other hand that usually is annealed copper…

If it’s not Ville’s pubic ring the only brass details I can remember from the MS is these two, the one in the breech of the barrel is longer or was on mine(very early in production)

Damn ! How did it end up in Florida ?? :suprisedn:

I swear I saw that ring through Ville’s tongue on one of these photo ops or was it a nostril? 😳

Looks like my wedding ring.. Wondered where it was..!! .. Lol ..

Talk about attention to details, great work Wanta, that’s exactly where it fell from 🙂 100 virgins coming your way!

Vill and Wanta, thanks for the response. During the meantime, I am going to violate my breech with some Moly paste 🙂

No, wait, come back. Don’t go to the dark side!!! How many shots you got through it? I did about 500 before I had to relube cause the bolt kind of locked up. Ed says to wait and let it break in. Mine is smooth as butter now and I’ve got a little too much hst cause my adjuster isn’t long enough to ack it out properly. I used some wsx powder (tungsten disulfide )mixed with regular Dow moly grease. The tungsten has a friction rating about 1/2 of moly so I like using it on everything. I discovered it when I was building modified oil pumps for Honda guys. I didn’t know if it realy worked until my daughters porch swing started eating through the eye bolt it was hanging from and I tried it. 6 months later and she out grew it, but the eyebolt still didn’t get eaten up any more. I had tried everything before that and it would only last a few weeks and start squeaking and grinding.

I was going to suggest the same thing as “wanta” above… found it on the floor the first time I took my R3 apart and had no idea where it came from 🙂

That’s the best shot I got so far
