Q:

Great First Focal Plane Scope back in stock

Hey gang, from a recommendation from Chad2 I got one of the Primary Arms 4-14X44 FFP Mil-Mil scopes to try on my .22 Cricket Std. I had never had one of those FFP scopes before, and WOW is it nice! Primary Arms is actually near the Houston area (Pearland, TX) so I went to their shop and looked at them before buying. For anyone that ever wanted to try a FFP scope, this is a GREAT deal. They had been out of stock for quite some time, but I noticed today they are shown as being in stock again and for only $229.00!!

Check ’em out here:

Here’s the thing I think you are missing. These PCP rifles are extremely accurate. They are capable of taking game realistically out to 160 yards with a predictable drop. Shooting game at 160 yards with a 900 odd foot per second weapon is the equivalent as shooting a 30 cal rifle at 1000 yards. Now whereas the shooter may not need the magnification required for 1000 yards he does need repeatable mechanics found in the turrets and reticle. I don’t use uber-expensive scopes on my guns but I can see the benefit for a top quality reticle and scope. I have never witnessed a sniper state the glass is not the most important part of the rifle, you cannot shoot what you cannot see.

Hemn, I don’t understand why it wouldn’t be compatible if it’s on the google play store. Maybe try the Strelok plus app, it also has the Hawke 1/2 mil

Keyser soze , Maybe you didn’t understand my question . Basically , I was inquiring why someone would go to such a high expense of buying a high
price scope for a PCP Air Gun . I know a person who spent $3,000 on a scope for a $2,000 air rifle and it is only used for plinking and occasional
pest control . I’am not worried how anyone spends their money on their toys or hobbies .I spent 42K on a custom boat for the type of fishing that I
love to do . The only difference is that I will be able to recoup most of my cost if and when I decide to sell my boat . All I really wanted was for
someone to explain why they felt justified in buying such a high end scope for their air rifle . As an ex-war sniper , when in combat and you need
to kill the enemy before they can kill you I understand the need for the very best scope regardless of cost .

Dear Kayser,

i have searched for it in the google,,,i tried to buy it ,,, and it says to me,,,this “this app is incompatible with your device

I have Samsung Galaxy S4 zoom

what do you think?

Hemn,
I also have an Android phone, the HTC M8. I paid for the strelok PRO version. It has a lot of features.

OK , go ahead and bust my BUTT . I’am an ex-war sniper and as so , please explain to me the need to put a scope that cost more than $300 on
a PCP Air Rifle that isn’t a big bore gun . (1) Are you going to need it to kill another person at long range in self defense ?
(2) Are you making a living professionally with your PCP Gun ?
(3) Are you so rich , that you don’t give a shit ?
(4) Are you so egoistical that it makes you fell more superior to others and it gives you bragging rights ?
Please explain because the scope really dosen’t make the gun , it helps , but it is really the shooter who knows how to interpert the full capability
of the use of the gun , the scope and any other accessories applied to it .

Ex-sniper? In my line of work I have learned a mean dog doesn’t bark. As you should learned in sniper school the gun, load and scope are all part of a system. So how about don’t worry about why…

Shot him out of the top of this tree from my truck at 72 yards… head shot right behind the ear and out the bottom of his neck… I was impressed!

Salty,
have you looked at March FFP scopes? On my long range rig 6mm XC I use a Nightforce and my friend and shooting partner uses a March. I feel like the March may have a slight glass quality over the Nightforce and the March has a 10 yrd parallax. I would have suggested you to look at the March line but I wasn’t clear that you we willing dive in that deep for an airgun. The gun is only as good as the glass on top of it.

I will most definitely check that out and thanks! Waitin’ on Unkel Sam to send me my money back what he dun took from me last year! 😆

I am very happy with my PA 4-14x44MD. For $230, I would like to know what variable FFP scope tops it? Make that $300.

Been my experience as well. I got mine just to try the functionality of how a FFP scope works, and wasn’t expecting too much out of the scope, but it has done a fantastic job for me. I have found it to track right on for POI vs. zoom. 1 dot seems to be 1 dot at any magnification. The ONLY thing I’d have liked is for the reticle to have been a finer line with smaller dots. but heck, I’ve shot it off the bench and after shooting the middle of a white sheet of cardboard at 30 yards with my .25 cal. I was able to put 3 .22 cal pellets in that .25 hole before the 4th shot increased the size of the single hole above the .25 cal. hole… so it doesn’t interfere too much with target acquisition and block view… Best “cheap” scope I’ve ever had.

Having said that I do intend on spending the bucks for a “real” ffp for my .25 for hunting… still researching that. It sure pains me to spend more for the glass than I did for the gun, though that is not at all uncommon for powder burners and hunting out west with a lot of glass such as binos, spotting scopes, and rifle scopes… :winkn:

I have owned both the PA and BSA FFP I think the BSA is a better scope. It has a more positive turret and it always returns to zero, the PA was sold after a few weeks. I have come to the conclusion if I am not willing to spend 1k or more on a FFP then I shouldn’t buy one. I did pick up the BSA for 210 on Ebay.
