Q:

Hummingbird; an observation of the shroud and accuracy

When it comes to accuracy it seems my Bird is partial to a vertical alignment of the shroud holes. That is also the position they are in when the shroud is snugged up. I’ve aligned the holes of the baffles with the shroud holes. When I turned the holes to point east and west, the accuracy went unpredictable within a 3/4 inch circle. at only 9 yards. Turn them back to north and south and the accuracy returns. Curious sensitivity. I’d think there was a slight imbalance with that orientation. Maybe that works? The bottom-escaping air makes light deposits on the top of the air reservoir.

PSI had to send my Bird in to Peter for that blowby at the breech. As noted elsewhere, the Bird suddenly popped an inner seal somewhere and dumped all it’s air.

Thanks for the clarification Matt!!

I understand now.

Gabe

This is the “spring” i was referring to in my previous post:

It looks like he works for wwag (look below his signature). From Earnests post, it appears that TOP did not strip his gun of the semi auto parts as iron cross stated in his post; unless the spring over the barrel covered by the shroud is not part of thr semi auto version. There seems to be some discrepancies in irons post or more clarification may be necessary..,at least for me 😉

Gabe

I never said TOP stripped Ernest’s gun I think came complete (pre production) everybody else received the same gun minus the semi feature which where removed by Top. All the Hummingbirds that are out there in the states came from the same shipment. WWAGs shipment that we’ll pick up monday night/tuesday morning will be the first current production version.

I thought Enerst got whatever the very first version but they didn’t take out the semi auto parts that wrap around the barrel end.
Ironcross, do you work for TGAG or WWAG?

Gus

Ernest received a pre production version, and I work for WWAG.

The first batch of guns where sold by TopGun AirGuns and were not production versions, they were failed semi autos that Top removed the semi auto components from (in my opinion shouldn’t have been sold) Kalibrigun says the production version do not have these issues. Customs is releasing WWAGs order Monday and if Charlie get word in time that the hold has been lifted will pick them up that evening, if not then the following morning. From there all guns will be leak tested and accuracy tested before shipping,

So is the bird that Ernest has a Top version or a “production” version?

Top version.

PS I still have blowby at the breech. Awaiting

Can you post some pics? I’m curious to see this arrangement as it’s reportedly quieter than the Cricket shroud.

Thanks for the response. That clear things up. I can sleep better now.

Winter is upon us. Gonna be hard to shoot 50 yds or further. I need to find 50 yds indoor range in Mass.

I think WWAG is aware. I don’t think anyone has received their 1st batch from WWAG. I’m on the 1st batch, unless they forget about me. :suprisedn:

Would love to see more folks post more 50-75yd groups.

Hi Perry,
You miight want to touch base with WWAG to find out if it’s aware of the issues some are having with the HB. If it can reassure you, I’d say follow on through. I look forward to mine being healthy sooner rather than later. I don’t see a whole lot of reports of problems, but I don’t see guys posting their groups either. That’s not a good sign if you’re an impatient type like me. Most guys seem to talk up their new airguns initially. My observation anyway.

Hi, I’m new to the forum but not to pcp guns. Currently shooting an FX Royale 400 .22 Full Shroud & .22 Cricket Skeleton.

Thanks for the post Darryl. I have the same question and concern regarding accuracy & blow back since I have two bird ordered through WWAG which are not here yet. Reading all these post and seeing the grouping, I expect the bird to shoot better out of the box. Is there a permanent fix to keeping the gun accurate & curing blow back? If not, I may just wait until next year when all the flaws are fixed. Please keep us posted.
