Q:

I know what quite is now

My 22 cricket has a LDC and my 25 has a LDC , I thought both guns were quiet,
I bought a Mutant shorty, wow this thing is as quiet as my Crickets,
I ordered a 1/2 20 adapter from Dman for my Mutant and sent him a old shroud to see if he could make a LDC out of it.
Long story short the shroud was useless, The 1/2 20 adapter was a work of art, (I already had one and did not no it, DUH)
He sent me a LDC from Donny, FREE, You can not beat that with a stick,
I did not think it was possible to make a PCP gun this QUIET, It makes my Crickets sound like shot guns..
When I first shot it I thought the pellet stuck in the barrel, The sparrow fell over at 48 yards?????
I like quiet because the prey(sparrows are not as spooked)
Nothing really you can do about the pellet hitting the target,
Mouse fart is way to loud for my LDC Mutant shorty, Its called super quiet,
There is a limit to quietness, and I think I have reached it,, The only way to make it quieter is to empty all the air out of the gun and whisper, Bang Bang

Dear Needle-Dick…(Ville the Vile)

Filthy, Warf-rat feces sniffing, herring oil on Swiss cheese and bagel eating, Finnish-Swedish hybrid mutant……. ????? (well shit, now I’ve forgotten what I was going to say to insult you!!!!)…

Oh well….have a nice day!

I do understand Cockney – that weird dialect of working class heroes.
Actually a pretty cool dialect at that.

You guys miss a chromosome – or two. How is “quite” pronounced then ? “Quiet” ???

You leave anything to do with “chrome” out of this discussion, unless we start talking about trucks….

Now…”Quiet” does not have an “e” in it, if you are West of the Mississippi River! As in “That Mutant is pretty day-‘um quite!”.

I hope this helps you understand that there are several different English languages in the United States. Same thing applies in England…just try to understand “Cockney” should you ever get to one of their cities.

:hoot:

Damn ig-nurt oyster sucking, pencil-dicked, U-Ro-peon, Finnish Felon…

“White” is pro-nounst “Whaaat” as in “Gimmie uh bucket uh tha Whaaat paint!”

I hope this clears the matter up!

Watch the movie ‘Tombstone”. That with give you an idea. When Wyatt is pronounced “Whyyyte”, that’s all the proof you need. :biggrinn:

BTW – the term is QUIET, not quite.”

Not in West Texas it ain’t!!! In them parts a “Bear” is a ” Bar”, a Girl” is a “Gal”‘ a”Dog” is a “Dawg”‘ and “Quiet” is pronounced “Quite”….Mike was writing the way he talks. You’all Yankees sometimes struggle to understand proper West Texan dialect!

All us down here knew what he mint!!!

And…what might be the cost of such a unit???
Hoot:

This would normally go for $69 Shipped, as it is a “in the rough, finish it yourself” unit. Not for sale yet….still in testing phase.

While trying different LDC internal designs, I found what seems to work best…..so far. Nothing exotic, but using accoustic foam and both internal and external venting, both appropriately placed, has shown a db reduction from 89~90 in pure factory configuration to 71~72 with my 6″L x1.5″D unit on my Mutant Standard at 31FPE.
Note: db readings should be considered comparative and were taken 18″ from muzzle with an actual sound meter. Still looking for improvements.
BTW – the term is QUIET, not quite. :winkn:

This unit simply replaces the factory end cap, so no adapter is required!

After drilling does putting insulation or any other material in the ldc help?

:hoot:

I don’t think so…some people tried but it just slowed the air flow from the vents…which kind of defeated the purpose of the vents. If you are referring to the baffled part of the LDC, again no noticeable results that I recall.

We tried all kinds of experiments a few years ago, but what finally seemed to work best was venting, and adding a good quality LDC. Some very loud guns were made almost silent using this approach.

Today’s ldc’s are more effective than the ones we used to get! So I would expect some good results.

Just don’t go nuts with the size and number of vents. More isn’t always better. Edit: 10/02/16 Six 1.5mm holes is the max I recommend…more is not better!
