In search of a .25
Hey guys,
I sold my 2 airguns: Mrod .22 and HW97K .177 to get a new one, a .25
My question now is: which one does fit my needs:
– very important: accurate!
– not to loud
– more then 40 fpe
– quality
Anyone suggestions or should I better wait until after summer? Because there will be a lot new airguns I heared. I can fill the gap by buying my friends Matador .22 .
Thank you for your advice.

Nice shooting!
For those with the $$ you cannot go wrong.
I prefer the traditional rifle style of the daystate but I could see how the edgun would be a handy powerful accurate tool.
I LOVE WALNUT! LOL
This is not that uncommon here in Europe.
Take a look at this:

This is shot on an official game by my friend. (DS Airwolf).
Here a pic of my friend at the place we were sitting this weekend and how we shot:
EDIT: Hoot, I wanted a Edgun in .25 because it is so accurate! I had a Mrod, but really, when you see its results against a Edgun or Daystate Airwolf, you would cry.
$413.00, plus $16.00 shipping Ground.

That’s the lowest price I have found for the .25 caliber. I lived in Dallas many years and used to drive over to Cheaper Than Dirt all the time to buy my shooting supplies. I never had a problem with them, or any of their products.
Hoot
3th one was miss match with the crosshair from my side, so it went out of the picture 🙂
I decided to stick with this .22 matador. In Europe (Belgium, Holland) the R3 will be sold at 1900€, that’s 2,689.33 USD and way too much for me!
And at the end, I don’t think the R3 will perform better then my R2 now..
If your making a shot like that at 100 yards, you better keep the gun you got. The only thing Ive seen that will beet that is a 22-250 remington varminter, with Hand loaded ammo. And it hits a 3 leaf clover group at 100 yards and the bullets are touching.
To get that shot out of a Air rifle is not only outstanding, it is amazing. 😯
This is shot last weekend at 100 yards, outside in the wind and in FT position (so no support from bench or bipod whatsoever)..

And the 60 yard group with the last one as “flyer” (wind maybe)=
I’ve made up my mind and I bought my friend his Edgun Matardor .22
Later this yeat I will have my ordered .25 R3 matador, so I will resell this one 🙂
Very happy with it at the moment! What a COMPLETE, and yes, in capital, COMPLETE change with the Mrod, certainly on accuracy!
When I have the time I will post my group on 60y.
Except for the 5th one, all hole in hole.. Amazing!
Lots of How unreliable the Mrod 22 is when this is about a 25. I shot an 8 shot group at 100 yards with lubed pellets. which I found later My MROD don’t like lube. Gusting winds at 3000ft elavation and 4 of my rounds were touching a one was almot touching the others and I had 3 flyers that were an inch or so away. I’m not a pro. I’m kinda shakey Truth be told.
I can’t wait to go try some Un lubed pellets at 100 yards. My Mrod is %100
out of the box and was only at 2750psi during that 100yard test.
Good luck, That Daystate looks awsome though.
I just wouldnt want to lay it over an old rusty pipe out in the field shooting. I would rather scratch the mrod up.
You can get a .25 caliber LW barrel for the Marauder can’t you?
Sometimes you get excellent accuracy from the $12.00 Marauder barrels and sometimes you don’t.
An LW barrel in caliber .25 for the Marauder would seen to offer an affordable, and very accurate pcp for the money involved, which would be hundreds and hundreds less than the English, Russian, and German counterparts.
Just a thought from a sometimes twisted mind.
Kindly ‘Ol Uncle Hoot 😯
Condor… Condor…. Condor…. 😆
I’m with you Slayer…I can’t justify, in any way, spending any more money on airguns. I am very fortunate to have what I have. I am pleased that the mods I encouraged you to do worked out as well for you as they did for me. :thumb:
Kazzz, I’ve come to a conclusion regarding your original question. Taking into account your shooting abilities and past negative experiences with that Marauder…I recommend that you buy a Daystate Air Ranger 80 in .25 caliber. That looks like an outstanding air rifle to me that will allow you to revel in your long range prowess. 😉

I say that with all sincerity. I look forward to you sharing with us what your final decision comes to be. Good Luck! 😀
I love the .25 marauder for squirrels! You helped me do some mods that made it much better for less than a few dollars (some free)
If I could afford an Air Ranger in .25 the Marauder would be in trouble.
Lucky for my Marauder I am a broke ass right now. lol
If I spend another dollar on an air gun My wife will kill me! lol
$1000 or so just to make sure I have enough air went over well. lol
So for now my Marauder shoots nice and hits strong. no piece of artwork like that daystate stock but shoots real good. 😉
Thanks for your help making the already decent Marauder even better.
We are tight Slayer! I’ll post some pics of the rats I bagged last night with my .25 Marauder using Modified Crow Magnums. Outrageous!!!
I stand by my assertion that there are guys who have marginal shooting skills and that they buy every gismo available, including the most expensive guns, in pursuit of buying accuracy. There are great airguns that shoot well out of the box: AirArms, Daystate, FX, etc.. Rapids have a great reputation of shooting very well…after hundreds of dollars of post purchase gunsmithing. For $1800 and more for the initial purchase, I don’t want to pay a gunsmith to make it right.
The .22 Marauders have been plagued with terrible quality control issues that are embarassing at best and disgraceful at worst. Like I said, I bought my .25 Marauder with the plan of selling it immediately if I didn’t like it. It turns out that many .25 Marauder owners are very happy with them. WooHoo! 😀
I am not a bullpup fan, but I must confess a secret desire to try a .25 Edgun. The performance of Ed’s guns seems to be outstanding. Ed himself has gone above and beyond to release a quality product. Again outstanding! To take that a step further, Tony, WOK, Tom Kaye, Jerry, Dick Dixon, Ed and others that I am sure I am missing, are all doing a great job for us. Thanks guys!!! 😀

Keep that gun!!!! I have a 17HMR that can group an inch at 100 yards… you are not far off that and you’re using a pellet gun!
