Q:

indexing issues with .25R3M

How many people have had indexing issues and how many have said something to Tony?

I asked him about that before my gun was sent and he said he knew of no problems. I find that hard to believe with the way machine gun was going off. I asked him about the indexing again and he made it sound like I’m the only one that’s had a problem?

Good choice of scope. I think the hawkes sw series are very tough to beat. I have 2 of them but the smaller 6.5-20×42. I wanted so bad to go with a ffp but have to spend too much to get what I really want.
Ps I have been wondering where you were up till now

I’m still around, have been shooting a lot but not much time online, I got fat sitting around all winter typing on the TAG and had to get off my ass. I got Old Goats and my .25 and .30 Breech assys. here getting doweled together in a local machine shop, as far as projects on my guns that is about it. I ended putting Hawke SW 6-24×50’s on all the guns. Some will think it’s stupid but I tuned each gun to shoot the same trajectory so my cheet sheet works for all, very close to the same. 🙂 The pest birds have been turning on here finally so that is fun. I have shot a couple of ground hogs damaging property for folks and a coon that was driving my dogs crazy every night late before bed time. I’ve had problems with both brands but seem to have them behind me.

Anyone heard from Ridetoeat lately? He really disappeared completely right after that. 😯

he hasn’t logged in hear since march 31st……

hope all is well.

maybe he is just busy shooting all those edguns and crickets

I was thinking the same thing.

SOMEONE TELL ME WHAT THE BEST BARREL IS PLEASE!!! UGGG. Too man choices. I’m leaning towards the poly, but I’ve been told the new 25 cal tjs is about to be out and I can get one from marmot I’ve seen reports that the barracudas fly straight past 100 yards with the poly barrels. That would be awsome.

Asked ride about his a month ago, he wants to keep it. The 22 will be for sale when I’m done with it.

Yeh no need to go boring out these guns

any decent machinist can turn the barrel down for you

Call Martin at RAW….

He’s got LW’s might be able to help yah out… may have to have the barrel turned down to .480

or you could get ahold of that sean guy and get a TJ’s barrel….

Or you could go the Fx smooth twist route. I think they are .550 …. have to have that turned down too

Or a BSA barrel.

Many options out there. I think that .480 is an odd barrel OD.. your probably gonna have to have any barrel you buy turned down and machined to fit. (unless and ed OEM)

Didn’t Ridetoeat turn his .25 into a .257? maybe he’s got a barrel ready to go?

Call ernest and ask his advice….

what are you going to do with the .22 barrel?

In my defense, the inlet on the 22 vs the 25 is pretty close in size. I should have looked closer. I’m in contact with marmot and I’m hopping to be ave to get a poly barrle. Don’t know yet if I can get it with the right od or if it can be machined. The lw site show thwt the poly barrle only comes in .630″ od. Tht not going to work in a matador (stock barrel Id is .480″ without major work that I don’t think I want to do. I’d like to keep it ready to convert back to stock so it retains some value. If I go boring giant holes in shit it don’t know if anyone would still want it.

I kind of have to agree with the above statement. Its also very, very easy to “miscommunicat” when dealing with edgun dealer. I was in contact with him about getting replacement regulator for my 25 standard and inquired about a long barrel. I never specially stated that it was for the 25 but that was the only gun we talked about and the subject of every email was “matador 25 standard”. I asked about left over parts front the custom build longs standards with long barrels that got converted ack to full standards and he said he would sell me one. Well, he got me on a technicality because I just can’t get a 25 jsb to fit in this new bark for some reason. Oh wait, cause its a 22 barrel. Like I said, I’m taking this as my fault because I never actually stated that I wanted the new barrel to be a 25 caliber. His response was basically ” yes, those were all 22 calibers, you didn’t ask what caliber they were. Well I am now the proud owner of a very nice barrel, I can’t use without changing a bunch of other stuff. Plus there aren’t any 22 cal mags anywhere on earth to be had from what I understand, is even if I did convert, it would be single shot. Awsome. Again, at least I have something to send the guy that is going to make the replacement now.

A bunch of people had trouble with the late 2013, .25 R3Ms not indexing correctly. I noticed it immediately and was one of the first to post the defect. Ed and Tony did nothing, aside from offering a refund if the gun was returned. So you’d lose the initial shipping & insurance, $75.00, plus whatever it cost to ship it back…customer gets the shaft is bullshit service. See what that plastic valve stem on the .25 R3M looks like after a few thousand shots. The later models may have fixed some issues, but Doug wouldn’t have invested the time and money making a new advancing lever/cam if it wasn’t a big issue. Ernest wouldn’t be working on a metal valve stem either. Mine has a lot of trouble beyond that.

The breech probe bumps into the side upon loading. The rail seems to be way off center, barely able to zero a scope, even w/ Signature zee inserts. Soft bolts, breech o rings can pop out, maybe from the bad probe line up?

Hopefully Ernest can fix it up. Aside from a stock, unadjusted Condor, it has been the only AG that spent so much time unused. The most disappointing AG purchase I’ve made.

Sure think. I had an issue with low shot count but a new regulator seams to have fixed that. First string after install was about 50 shots at 890fps with jsb. I’m now putting a full lenth barrel on it to see how much that affects power and shot count. I’ll never have the full count of a long cause I can’t get a long tube and tony said there aren’t anymore longs coming for some time. That’s why I just decided to put another barrel on it. Plus I got the barrel from tony at next to nothing since it was a left over from some Canadian deal gone bad. Sounds stupid but I’m more concerned with effeicentcy that shot count. Compressed air is difficult to get around here and I’m not ready to by a compressor. Shot count vs reservoir size. Once I get the Barrel and reg broke in, I’ll bring it back down into the 875fps range.

Although I had no issues with my 25 standard r3m(first shipment) when I first got it. Now that it has 4-5000 pellets through it, I am getting an incomplete cycle every once in a while. I’ve had it apart and relubed, I’ve polished everything up. Its just not rotating enough from time to time. I didn’t take any material from the end of the mag cam.

Just shoot it… its not worn in yet

My Big Brother Pippo,

No, you are most welcome, ,,, I don’t be upset from my brothers because of expressing their opinions about the shit toy like our guns,,

No, you may still not understand well from Trygves post, here I copied a part of his post explained that he ordered for his old R3 not his new R3M ,,,, he already paid for the breech along with his new R3M in Jun 2013..plz read below. …

((((I received my R3M std cal.22 “upgrade-kit” today. The replacement breech needed to convert a std R3 into a R3M.

Just to recap: I ordered it and paid for it (€300 . including two new mags) in June last year. It was supposed to be shipped along with my gun, – but Ed forgot all about it)))))

Pippo – your doing a lot of posting in the Edgun section for ignoring it. 😯
