Is it the Shooter or the Gun…?
So what is more important, the shooter or the gun?
Or are they equally important?
A crappy shooter can make a mess of an accurate rifle, they can also improve their groups through the increased accuracy of the better rifle.
But the best shooter in the world can’t make a inconsistent rifle shoot better through technique alone…
Is it 50/50, equal parts shooter to rifle accuracy?
60/40 shooter/rifle?
Or.
40/60 shooter/rifle?
😀

Or…
If a hard-on falls in the forrest and no one is around will you go blind? 😆
Credit Bill Hicks for that one… 😉
Watch this for a few minutes, pretty damned funny! Quote occurs at abut three minutes after the linked time. You have to watch the build up to the joke.
If a tree falls in the woods and no one is around to hear it fall does it make a sound?
But how do we know if its accurate if no shooter ever shoots it?
Jerry, apparently it’s the same as the total number of Leprechauns plus one. Or one less than the total number of pixies. 😉
I didn’t realize I asked a trick question until I read WOK’s answer! 😯 😆
It is the gun.
An accurate gun is accurate with or without a human operator.
How many angels can fit on the head of a pin?
For me quit clear…
70/30 in first instance for the shooter.
When I pick up a gun I can shoot it almost the same or better then the owner. This is NOT to brag, but just a fact and lots of friend shooters tell me this too. I know also friends that have the same ability.
Now, after a while, it becomes more 60/40 and even 50/50. I know when I come close to the limits of the gun. There are a lot of people thinks they can outshoot a gun, but this is almost in every case not possible. I’ve shot with a Socom Tactical 1000 less then 1 inch 10 shot groups at 58 yards. Others tell this is a crap gun only for plinking! But you need to become one with the gun and knows it limits, weakness and strong points!
But with a Hastan AT44 for instance, I will never shoot a 100m competition. It is just not consistent enough, even on a external reg. There are too many weird flyers.
Now, the bottomline is: When I’m practicing, I can concentrate myself almost 100% and I know what I can do. I know when I have a fleyer with my edgun, or my friends Daystate, it’s almost in 99% of the case my faulth. A tiny little mm of triggerfinger of place or tightened the stock too much etc..
When I have a Hatsan or whatsoever, I do not feel this because the gun simply is not made to give this info to the shooter or I know for sure I did exactly the same and still there are flyers 🙂
Hope this is clear and it’s only my opinion. Sorry for the bad English and it’s not intended to brag or something, just a feeling I have.

Couldn’t the percentages fluctuate? You could be flawless, but have a sucky gun or have “the” gun but suck as a shooter. Practice makes perfect for the shooter and a gun never shot is a gun never learned. That’s my .02ct discount for the day.
😀
double post
SYN: It took my exactly 3 seconds to get it, now i cant stop laughing. your right…….TROPHY….lol
1.5 million sexy pics though
Tofaz, “trophy” singular! 😆
I’m leaning 50/50. Perhaps even more rifle than shooter but that depends on what kind of shooting (really depends on what type of shooting). I think the more you take the shooter out of the equation, say benched or otherwise rested, the more the equipment matters (to a certain point).
Can a world class shooter make Gamo ultra light gold pellets shooting at 1300fps group well at 30 yards even off a bench?
Hell no! Nobody can.
But some of the worst shooters can hit a bullseye at 40 yards with a world class FT rifle off a bench.
Off hand the balance moves to favor the experienced shooter and their skills over the rifle although there must be a tipping point where the rifle will only make things more difficult for even the best off hand shooters.
Most world class shooters who go out and use low end equipment spend lot of time dialing in the rifle and their technique to get that rifle to shoot as well as a high end rifle. There is no substitute for knowing your equipment and doing so will always give one an advantage against even the a well practiced shooter with really good equipment.
Get this, I used a really sweet FT rifle in a match without practice and shot a 43/48 in pcp unlimited class (two missed shots were on the offhand lane). I would bet my life there is no way in hell I could have done that with my Talon even benched with years of practice, it simply didn’t group consistently enough in a FT situation.
But a world class shooter with a super accurate rifle will always outshoot the under skilled shooter on the same rifle. 😉
Tricky question really cause IT DEPENDS.
But to me, if someone is to be proven A GOOD shooter then it needs to be 50/50. The gun has got to be able to drive tacks and the shooter has to have the knowledge to hit the tacks with the accurate gun.
Im sure in this world though that there are more accurate guns than accurate shooters.
And while i love a piece of ass like the next guy, i’m so sick of Danica’s over hype and little to no promise. how is she still racing? More sexy pics of her than pics of her with 1st place trophies….lol
Harry, oh you’ve done it now buddy!! 😆
Rant on!
I love women race car drivers. Women and girls make some of the best race kart driver too. Some of the best shooter as well. Nothing against women in sports typically dominated by men if they have the stuff. Except the fact i’ve been outshot by a few women and girls before…! 😆
I just don’t like any women race car drivers that use sex to get attention when they can’t even drive that well. She is using sex to make herself rich, that is whoring oneself. Put down the whore outfits and fucking drive the damn car.
There are plenty of other better drivers who have won more races but get little to no attention. Plenty of talented women drivers who get pushed to the side. Why make it appear like you have to basically be a Paris Hilton to race cars?
Not to mention she wines like a baby, looks like a dude and constantly bitches about other peoples driving when she is typically at fault.
Check out the difference in these two simple google image searches. One is like a search for a playboy slut and the other for a race car driver.

The gun has idd the same accurateness, but the shooter can influence the results.
