It’s about the same for my Shorty, fpe 26-27 with JSBs.
hum ….. yes it gets less efficient higher up ……… a bit louder too.

I’ll be using this gun for Squirrel hunting. So shot count isn’t as important as the right pellet and speed to generate the best accuracy combination. Last year I used a Vulcan 25 and rarely shot more than 3 mags in a hunting session (27 shots). I’m hoping to get a recipe for best pellet weight and speed with the .22 shorty’s twist rate. Most shots will be 30 to 70 yards. Currently I can get 1/2 inch groups at 45 yds. Shooting 16gr at 925 fps and 18.13 JSB at 885 fps. The 16 gr groups open up to 1.25 or 1.5 inches at 70 yards. The 18.13 gr pellet group size is at 1 1/4 inches at 885 fps at 70 yards. Of course this can be related to my shooting ability, just looking for best weight, speed combination.

Yes I tune for maximum accuracy first then shot count will fall where it does ……
Just lucky I’m guessing that at 220b fill I’m getting an even mag shot count.
18g at 820 fps = 3 mags and 16g at 820 fps I’m getting 4 mags.
With the 22’s I need good shot count, have a lot of critters to dispatch.
But with a 25 less so …….. less larger game to shoot.
All in all it’s interesting that we all can have such application versatility with the same gun !

That is a great looking setup!!! Would like to hear how it shoots those same pellets @ 920fps. Even faster if one had the time.
Never tried 920 fps the gun/reg came set to 146 bar and it’s max with the CZ barrel using 16g is 865fps.
18 g is 825 fps ……
If I need 920 with 16 or 18g I’d reach for my Cricket or Edgun ………

I find that my mutant shorty .22 has the best power to shot count at about 26/27 fpe, using CPHP for testing haven’t seen how much power uisng JSB 16 or 18 yet..could be same or could be one/two more fpe. Any more power then shot count goes down a lot and less power gets more shots but I want to maximize power to count.

If so, I think it’s the best short 25 PB out there today at any price !
Shooring Kings at 880fps with a good shot count is hard to beat.
I”ve always stress the fact of having a good trigger on all my PCPs and it’s a must for me/many.
So with its outstanding trigger/group design it’s a no brainer, the Vet came from an already better gun ……….. made even better !

I agree with you on the trigger… The very reason I like the Mutants in the first place, that is time and money built in the right place.
You get a jicky trigger your never consistent with the first part of firing. Your just going to be close at best like that.

I’m curious why you’ve settled on 820 fps with the 16gr pellet? Is it to increase Shot count and efficiency, or will this speed give you the best tragectory when considering barrel twist rate etc? My 22 Vet short came out of box shooting the 16 gr at 924 fps and JSB 18.13 gr at 885. I’ve made no adjustments to date and getting good groups out to 45 yes or so, further down range groups are opening up a bit. Wondering if it’s my shooting ability or wrong speed, pellet weight and twist rate combination? Any advise from the fourm’s great membership is welcomed.

Yes shot count, I’m getting 48 shots per filled to 220 b using 16g.
Accuracy so far for each pellet is 820 with 16g and 820 with 18g, and different pellet batch has a slight effect also.
Although the 18g seem to give me the highest kill rate at that speed ………. and filled to 220 b gets me 36 shots/3mags.
I’m not a paper puncher mainly a pester, shoot paper when tuning and testing.
…….. hum, not sure with you or your gun but 880-920 fps with 18g should give very good results ?
With such a new and SHORT pup I’d give yourself a bit more time, it can be a harder gun to shoot well IMO.
If u can out shoot your Vet equal cal/tune with another Airgun then I’d suspect somethings up ?
What is the size of the groups ctc at 45 yards ?
With my Mutant Shorty using 18g it’s 12 shot group/ing at 50 yards is 1/4″ ctc on a good day.
But that’s just my standards when tuning/testing with all my PBs ……….. then it’s kill/crunch time.

Pesting all day today with the Mutant, gotta love it !!
I got it tune to shoot JSB 16g @ 820fps and I’d say it’s 10% quieter than the Fat Boy at that same tune, haven’t try a faster/power tune yet though.
The OAL is 29.2″

GKU, can you post full pics of your setup? Is the Sumo noticeably quieter than the Fatboy? Like 10% quieter or more like 20%?
