Q:

Just ordered a Short one

From Tony, it should arrive in 2 weeks or so after he test shoots it.

I can’t wait, in the mean time what to crown the little one with, a Bug buster ?

Mike

I like the Fat one too but I’m keeping both LDC ……. that SUMO is way quite outside.

Yippee !
Just got my Mutant upgrades from Donny today …… that was way fast !!

The SUMO is a new 22 cal addition to his line so pick your cal before adding to cart.

Made a packing tape washer ASAP to protect the finish on the LDC when it make contact to the factory shroud.

I like that Donny did not add a marker on his new HST, if so on every gun will end up at a different location. I added a piece of tape aligned to my old tuning markings on the receiver.

Haven’t had any chance today to give it a balls to the wall test go, but when I crony/dialed in the HST it is a bit more quieter then the Fat Boy …… I loosened the back nut on the back of the LDC and rotated the outer can to make the logo horizontal.

If there’s such a thing it’s even, Badassier ! :8:

All very nice work Donny extremely …….. a big, THANKS !

Here’s Donnys latest and greatest Fatboy LDC !!!

Some changes are the anodizing of the front and rear cap are very well done. Other changes are the front cap is calibered to a 25 cal and is caliber specific by adding a front washer to the collection to down size your caliber. Enlarged internal ID making way for more dampening volume.

Subtle changes are the bevelling on the caps are a nice added touch in the detail, that Donny is just a freak went it comes to quality !

I made a packing tape washer to help protect the anodize coating on the rear cap.

The treading matches up perfect just right not to loose and not too tight with John’s adapter.

For different tunings and FPE changes it’s cool to open up the Fatboy to try out different combinations /arrangements of felt washers and the calibers metal ones too.
If you own a Mutant this is hands down the greatest accessory there is, a must have for the my Shorty anyway !

What did you use on the endcaps to make them black?

I masked out all the treads with tape and sprayed it with Flat black speed enamel … it’s the easiest why I think for now ….. easy to remove also with lacquer thinner and to touch ups I use a Sharpie.

What did you use on the endcaps to make them black?

I experimented with the inners and found for my Shorty tuned to only 24 fpe which is already quit quiet without the Fatboy in place makes it even harder to achieve quieter. I sandwiched the 2 washer together as seen and added a 11 x 2 mm soft green O-ring, I believe it’s a 70A ? It fits into the small groove on the back of the LDC placed on John’s adapter with a small amount of silicone lube made for a airtight fit. With the new config pressure is increased so the O-ring helps keep it all inside the back end of the LDC. For a higher powered tune I’d go more towards the original setup/config.

There’s a couple of good DIY how to do the CF wrap but here’s a few tips.

Mark the bottom of the factory shroud, I used a piece of tape.

Find an inside corner that is known to be straight, I found our patio door jam fit the shroud well.

I rested the bottom of the shroud onto the locking bracket on the door frame and taped it in place.

Make sure that the mark (bottom of shroud) was right on the edge of the door frame.

Peel back the backing on the CF wrap and place it’s edge right into the corner as a guild making sure it’s flush/even with the top too.
Remove from the jam and lightly roll the wrap onto the shroud, don’t pull it on to tight you don’t want it to stretch and deform.

If it takes a couple of try’s be careful not to pull off the shroud from the door jam and drop it.

You can do the application soapy wet also, but you have only a little time before it locks into place.
Peal off and let it sit awhile for it to regain it’s shape, re-wet and try again.

 u the man Greg! Too bad we don’t have any shorty’s over here, only standard.

Instead of anodizing I’d go with flat black powder coat.lot less chemicals lol. Be sure to mask off the threads.

Hey Mutant Shorty owners/guys …. .. .

As u may know I ordered a sheet of VVIVID XPO Black vinyl CF wrap u see …… … and have some to give out for free on theses conditions.

They’re per-cut to fit on the OEM shroud with a EZ soapy water install, but I don’t guarantee a perfect fit for factory lot variations on the aluminum shroud OD and length may differ.

But I’ve under cut them a bit to fit because the joint is place where only the dead varmint/pest can see where they meet, on the underside of the OEM shroud.

Conditions:
u need to own a Mutant Shorty.
u need to have bought/own a Donny LDC for your Mutant Shorty.
u need to have posted a picture(s) here on TAG forum.
u need to be in the USA, sorry Cricket …… u live to faraway ……. just joking … I’ll make u the only exception.

Subject to change without prior notice ….. and limited supply while it last gents …… …. .. . PM me if u’re. :fishinghole:

SHORTY owners are the BEST, because they know what is the best !!!

~ Greg , thanks again for l@@king ……. … .. .

Thanks Miksatx, I’m studding the video but it still looks dangerous/hard to do ….. 😛

But …. .. okay I got the CF wrap on my OEM shroud, but it’s not as a perfect match kind if shinier than advertised on Amazon ….. kind of like the older/my flat look better ?

The new end caps are a nice touch! When are you going to spray paint them black?

hum, flat black maybe ……….. maybe when I receive and do the Vinyl CF wrap.

Anyone know of a DIY way to anodize aluminum without electrocuting and poisoning myself would be appreciated …… ..
