Lelya #090 test results….

Ok fellas. The Lelya is finally here…. I pulled it out of the box, slapped a
Leapers 4X32 scope on it with low profile Weaver rings (Needs Medium for
proper eye alignment), filled it to 3,200psi and sighted it in at 13yds. I
checked it at 20, then 40, then 65yds to see how it would group… The
wind was blowing mostly right to left but, it has a tendency to swirl really
bad here at times so, don’t fault the gun for the longer groups….I refilled
to 3,200psi, hooked up the Combro and let her rip….. It really looks like
this is going to be another boring, hit everything you aim at EDgun….lol

Here are the Chrony results….

JSB 10.4gr 3,200psi fill
35 Shots
High 797.00
Low 783.00
Extreme Spread 14.00

Average FPS 790.20
Average FPE 14.42
Std. Deviation 3.06

5 shots @ 20yds.. I had not yet adjusted the trigger and I pushed that one
shot right. Out of the box the trigger was pretty stiff… It is now nice and
light just like the Matador..

6 shots @ 40yds

5 shots @ 65yds. The elevation deviation looks great.. Can’t wait to see
what it will do in calm wind.

This is a Crosman CHP / JSB comparison 5 shots @ 20yds with the
same wind…

This is CHP / JSB 5 shots @ 40yds… Looks like the CHP’s really start to
open up.. One missed the target completely left.. Never was a big fan of
CHP’s anyways. No offense Steve…lol
CHP 5 shots @ 40yds

JSB 5 shots @ 40yds

Hi Jeff, – and thanks….

Yepp, Miss 090 is still doing fine……

I have plenty of the JSB 25grs, and yes I would not mind getting a cal.25 Matador. But so far I have not received my two .22 ones (the first ones to arrive in Norway. The last I heard from Ed is that they have been shipped and are in Estonia, – should be here anytime soon), – and I would need to gain some Matador experience first. I understand Ed is experiencing customs problems (new regulations) and this goes for barrels into the country as well shipping complete guns out. It may be a good idea to wait until that has been sorted before I place more orders…..

Cheers……

Trygve ๐Ÿ˜€

Good to hear that the gun is still doing well Keen… Nice shooting and again
that is a really nice place you have…. I know it is probably too late but if you
could get .25cal JSB Kings over there, I would advise that you think about
getting a .25cal Matador… I see you have the ability to disassemble so it
would be easy for you to tune the gun for the JSB pellets…. Keep us
informed with your progress….
Jeff

Hello from Oslo Norway,

Brief intro: Keen airgun collector, 63 yrs old Norwegian with some 50 yrs experience with airrifles and a harem of some 30 + very nice guns. Moderator on the Norwegian AirGunWorld.org forum and somewhat active on other fora too like BSA and Daystate. I have been hiding in the corner here for a while, and this is my first post. Kindly excuse my English which may not be up to standards. After all, it is not my mother tongue…..

Now to topic: Jeff knows this, and I would like to think he would sanction that I continue the story of Miss Lelya 090….. ๐Ÿ˜€

In short he sold the gun, and it travelled across the Atlantic all the way to Norway. I got it from a good friend (Egon, famous blueprinter here and a good friend), – and here she will stay until I am wanted 6 feet under… (I may even take her with me … ๐Ÿ˜‰ )

I love this little gem. AND I have posted a few of my experiences on the BSA Forum in UK. Instead of rewriting it all here, I am happy to offer you this link to my thread:

http://bsaog.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=19477.0

For those interested feel free to read it. It’s also got some pictures in there…..

I have now on order two Matadors .22 from Ed that I expect to receive very soon….

With your permission, I’ll keep you updated on the life and love of Lelya 090 which I believe is the first Lelya to arrive in Western Europe (I may be wrong, but who cares….)……

OK ?

Cheers….. ๐Ÿ˜€

You’re welcome Mac…. It really is a nice gun…
I am going for the .22cal next time…. .177 is just not enough Cajones and
the wind really moves it around….
I’ve gotta get past all of these end of the year expenses…lol

Mac, this is my last scope cap yardage card from the Lelya scope…
Zero is approximately 10yds…
I find it really hard to make Chairgun match my actual yardages…

I don’t even have an Edgun Matador yet so quit torturing me with info like this. ๐Ÿ˜†

Shot string looks great! What was the ending fill pressure?

Plus one!! ME!!!!

itยดs a Veles with buttstock right? I mean, the mechanics are the same?

We have a black president ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

5 shots @ 40yds… One got hung in the wind….

Wind was calm… 40yd 10 shot groups..
Checked the FPS of each.
#1 Air Arms 10.3gr – 801FPS
#2 H&N Baracuda 10.65gr – 803FPS
#3 Air Arms 8.44gr 4.51″dia – 866FPS
#4 Air Arms 8.44gr 4.52″dia – 855FPS
#5 H&N Field Target Trophy 8.44gr – 861FPS
#6 H&N Silver Point 11.57gr – 751FPS

The hammer spring adjustment screw got
loose and loosened the hammer spring right when I started the Air Arms 8.44
4.52″dia. pellets… Have to redo those and the Baracudas….

I got some pellets to test and here are the results so far… More to
come when the wind is calm…. I was gusting 10-15MPH
So far, this is how I rank them.
#1 Air Arms 10.3gr – 801FPS
#2 H&N Baracuda 10.65gr – 803FPS
#3 Air Arms 8.44gr 4.51″dia – 866FPS
#4 H&N Field Target Trophy 8.44gr – 861FPS
#5 H&N Silver Point 11.57gr – 751FPS

20yds Target #4 is JSB 10.3 with 4.52dia

40yds.

Small variable breeze this morning and not the perfect condition for 100yd
groups with a .177cal but, what the heck right? So I shot 2 X 5 shot groups…

Yes I was very surprised….
JSB 10.3gr

1.117″ Are you friggin serious…. Do I really want to sell this thing?

That it is Sherrrod…. I polished the bore a day or so ago and I think it really
tightened up the groups with the JSB’s….. I smeared some left over Tamale
on the board that is holding the target and I was shooting at flies @ 40yds
and expecting to hit them…. Haven’t yet but it is so close….. If the wind will
die down just a little the flies will be in trouble….

Looks like a shooters playland ๐Ÿ˜Ž
Groups lookin good.
