Q:

Looking at getting a new scope…

Hey guys I’m trying to find a good scope for around 400 dollars. I HATE front focus parallax adjustment! Hate it! So it must be side focus. Also IR would be good as I shoot rabbits at night.

I was planning on getting the MTC Viper 6-24×56 but I can’t find any reviews on what it’s like. All I hear about is biased opinions on how bushnells are about 1000000 times better (which can’t really be true).

Any help is appreciated

Got a Viper 8-32×60.

Very nice, crisp all the way to max zoom, does well in low light, holds zero despite knocks. Does have slight backlash on the focus which disapointed me,but the parallax does give you pretty acurrate range finding.

If you got the extra dollar then go for the Viper if you can get one.

Patrick, there is nothing wrong with Vipers. Very nice, cool scopes. But the sole distributor of MTC scopes is AOA, and they have been out for at least a year. I know few guys who have been waiting for 9 months! Screw that. A lot of orders were cancelled…not sure why these scopes are not coming anymore.
Looks like Hawke Side Winder is a great alternative, even look almost the same as MTCs.

Thanks for your opinions. It’s definitely reassuring. So is there anything BAD about the MTC viper?

Ambush Hunter, what do you mean good luck getting one? I was planning on ordering for Arizona Airguns. Here’s the link:

Patrick,

MTC Vipers are nice, but good luck getting one. I had two 10×44, I sold one of them. Still have the other one collecting dust…hopefully one day it will see some action again.
Bushnell Elites beat any Viper, Hawke, Swift, Nikko Stirling, Leapers, etc. as far as clarity of glass goes, no doubt.
New Hawke Side Winders have side focus and true 10x mildots. Check them out at the straightshooters. Some of them under $400.
Leapers/Accushot scopes have side focus. Nikko Stirlings, too.

they are great scopes, knobs are tall vary tall and big, but the glass is very nice

the mtc scopes got alot going for them.

i tried one on a aa410, and it was real nice, my bushy legend was nearly as good but without all the bells and whistles, but the bushy is usually available between 160-200$

the glass cant compare to the bushy 4200 glass, but its still good glass, lightyears ahead of leapers, rex, and what they are branded under these days.

i dont think you will go wrong with any of the mtc, most i know who bought them are keeping them.
