Marauder pistol
OK so I pluncked down the cash for a Marauder pistol with a swift 4x scope and mounts. Heard so much negative I have held off this long! 😳
I hope I get it to shoot one type of pellet decent as most have reported.
Will not be in for a coup-le weeks but at least I took the plunge!

Well played around with it a little more today.
Took it apart..again, this time polished everything up.
Wanted to double check the TP seals, thought maybe I messed one up, or something. Just lookin for a reason the performance was not up to expectations.
Put it all back together, shot over the crony using kindly ol uncle Hoots settings of 3 and 1 on both hex turns. Then tweaked a little over the crony..
This time shooting in the 830’s. I just can’t get this one to hit 900fps
I’m happy with 830’s and I’m calling it done
Thanks for the help….
My nuts arn’t numb…they have a little tingling to em..
Yea, I did delete that last post…tore the little toy apart and thought I found the problem. Nope
Yes did the 1..and 3…under 800 fps
At any rate..tore it apart again to see and understand how it works.
Both all the way Counter clockwise …to the left…
1) The spring pre-load (just like the power wheel on the AF gun)
Turn it in..Clockwise..to the right..(UP)=more spring pressure
2) The hammer strike…to the LEFT is the longest strike possible.
to the right..clockwise= less strike..less power.
Maxed both them out…still in the upper 700’s.
Yes, I played the reverse on each…400fps was the result.
I just thing the heaviest hammer..the longest hammer stroke= the most power. Just like a baseball ball…half swing…1st base…long full swing a home run.
:horse: NO…no…..no…..numbnuts!!!! :horse:
First, cock the damn thing, then turn both hex screws counter-clock wiseuntil they stop!!!! If they don’t come to a complete hard stop, you went the wrong way!
All the way “IN” till they stop! Backed all the way in till they come to a sudden, hard, stop!!! Backed in, as to the LEFT all the way!!!!
Second, THEN…you turn each one OUT (clockwise) one turn to the right——-}
Now check your fps. If you want to save time, go OUT three turns with the large hex wrench, one turn out with the small hex wrench.
You should be at 800 fps within a shot or two.
The error may be mine….but it’s worked three times for me.
Let us know if everything stays the same, or no improvement.

I don’t see how you could possibly put the GMAC at maximum Pretension, as I could only go about 3-4 turns in without dumping the air in one magazine. I tried to go 6 turns out and blew my moderator off.
Would you check your settings for the following;
1) You MUST cock the hammer BEFORE making any adjustments in or out!!!
2) You then turn both adjustments all the way in, to a dead stop, by turning both hex wrenches counter-clock wise, (to the Left).
3) Then, with the hammer cocked, you turn the hammer throw length (small hex) one (1) turn out…then turn the Pretension spring (large hex) out one turn, and check fps on a chrony. Go one turn out with the big wrench, Pretension, and check velocity each time, till you hit max fps, or six full turns out.
4) Remember, a FULL turn is 360 degrees, a full circle, back to the starting point of your turn.
You can play with the hammer throw afterwards to tweak it a bit.
I’m getting the results you state, at settings of 3 turns out for Pretension(large hex), and 1 turn Hammer Throw out (small hex).
There’s an error somewhere in your setup.

PS: Forgive the step by step instructions above, but others not expert in these adjustments will be reading this.
Well guys, all parts installed in gun today.
.125 transfer port and Gmac spring.
I’m a bit disappointed at results, I was looking for around 900fps with a jsb 18.1, but ended up with 800fps for the max.
1st clip 797 down to 740fps
2nd clip 740 down to 600
24fp first couple shots, not to bad, but was wanting a little more.
Spring set at max tension.
Stroke set to longest throw.
I’m done..should be fine to shoot a few squirrels with
With the GMAC spring, 900 fps can be done, but shot count will drop pretty good. I wouldn’t plan on much more than 1 to 1- 1/2 mags at most. In fact, I’ve seen 1000 fps with CHP, but only for one mag, and it’s just not worth the extra air. If you need that, get a rifle.
I tried to get an updated shot string on my Prochrony today but it hit 107 in the shade, and I had to drop my efforts. 110 F again tomorrow.
I’ll get it posted as soon as I can.

Just finished up two for customers. Only drilled out to .109″ Installed the spring had to cut it to equal length.
Three turns out shooting CP’s 14.3’s at 850.
Gun is LOUDer. 😯
Mine is next. Going to add the baffles and extended tube. My SS is throwing 18.1g at 700 (all I need).
I’ll be doing a side by side later next month. My plate is full and some might say that I’m already going back for seconds. 😆
Me too! Damn it.
Have the exact same project going.
Spring orderd, as well as a .125 transfer port from Jim Gaska and a 4 baffle shroud extension.
I think that same website that sold the spring, had a new gadget..a new type of cocking handle, something about it being hollow and a little longer than stock, suppost to seat the pellet in further.
Anyone have any info on it?
At any rate, just doing the basics on this gun..not mine..a friends. The idea is to get it close to 900fps, we shall see how it goes.
Should turn this little powder puff of a gun into a nice little woods gun.
Nice little gun, fun little project
A nice little guide for anyone else considering this…
Damnit Hoot! Your making me spend more money! 😉
Hit that sucker right in the head and the Prod, shooting at around 795 fps, with only a 14.3 gr CHP, put him down at 100 feet. The pellet impact was absolutely sicking to hear. “SMACK!” and he got sick real quick. He was dancing the Saturday night raccoon disco jig, so I pumped seven more into him just to keep with the beat, and empty the clip.
I’m using a 6X Bugbuster, and find it perfect for my close range shooting. Drilled the TP to about .118, used 3 out from dead stop on Pretension, 1 out from dead stop on Throw.
I have been using the CHP lately because I find them accurate, heavy enough to do the job, and at my current adjustments with a GMAC heavy spring, I’m getting 24 shots that stay within 800-700 fps between 3000-1000 psi. FPE at those velocities starts at 20 and drops to 15.5 at the 24th shot. Accuracy is dead nuts, at 100 feet.
I also like the $7.95 per 500 pellets, with a screw-on lid at Wally-World.
I honestly believe this little carbine shines at distances no further than 150 feet and closer. That 12″ barrel can only do so much with such a small air capacity.
Now, I don’t get a bell curve on velocity with this setup. It starts high and goes down 83 psi per shot. So it would appear I need to do a bit more adjusting, but it’s been so damn hot (107 today) that its not worth the effort to go outside. I’m not sure I need/want a bell curve anyway.
I’d like to put a 14.5″ barrel on this bad boy, yes I would. I may also talk to the WokMeister about an extra wide, extra long trigger shoe for it.
Hmmm….wonder if the Crosman Custom Shop 14.5″ 22XX barrel would work? I know Jim Gaska could fix up an LW 14.5″ and the shroud tube to fit that length at a reasonable price too. Perhaps a Winter project!
Best regards to the ignorant and teeming masses…I remain, humbly,

PS: You .25 Marauder dudes out there…go here and buy this spring for your rifle: http://www1.mscdirect.com/CGI/NNSRIT2?PMPXNO=1762693&PMTERM=06812143 The pack of 5 springs runs about $16.00 shipped and you should see 900 fps with a 35gr Ein Jun. That’s pretty serious 50 FPE for a mere $16 clams. If you want 60 FPE, go check this out from the same guy (he doesn’t like the HDD device) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BQ5UW_PYUCg&feature=channel&list=UL
Peace out, Dudes!

The link does not work for me. Is it still valid or is,there another
Ray – hope the port works out for you. You guys renewed my interst in the p rod so I dug it out and going to take it hunting this weekend. I’m going to chrony mine tomorrow as I don’t think I’m any where near that FPS.
Hoot – thanks (as always) for the heads up on the spring. Going to order a couple of those tomorrow .

Info good to know….
My bolt began to get “sticky”, my magazine wouldn’t come out, pellets started getting stuck in the breech….
“WTF” you say???
Indeed! I found it was the O-ring that is just inside the barrel, before the transfer port. If it breaks….as Popeye once said “Ya’s in a world of shit, ack ack ack….”
So, don’t forget to occasionally put some silicone grease in there to keep it nice and slick.
