Q:

Meet the Taipan Mutant….(updated)

.22 cal multi shot.

Heres the whole family…. :8: :8: :8:
yeh the baby is only 22.75″ long….

These don’t discriminate… left or right. Just flip the linkage over and away you go. (this is a pic of the Taipan 2 but they are basically the same, Predesessor of the mutant)

Pretty sweet trigger if i might add…

I will have more info to follow in the coming days…. I figure i would at least throw some pics up …. and get this ball rolling.

They made in Ukraine…..

and now they are available in the US…..

The manufacture claims….

60 shots at 34 FPE…. 250 bar fill .22 cal.

They use CZ barrels…

also avail in .17 cal.

I filled one up tonight to 200 bar and loaded a magazine with jsb 18’s …. it shot 943-947 the whole 12 shots

These come with a soft case. 2 12 round mags.( they fit the Pred’s and other long pellets) a single shot tray, fill probe, orings and tools to adjust the Hammer spring. and to remove the baffles from the shroud….

Tommarow i will take some more pictures and start shooting these…

Can you guys post a small 10 second video showing the Trigger mechanism in action?

The best part in adjusting the trigger——> you can preview which screw and lever that will affect how the trigger operate and perform. —like a cutaway of an air gun and see how the flow of air travels. got it set at 1.7 oz 1st stage and 7 oz 2nd stage break with no creep.

Your right Jaime, look like a FWB trigger group. I though that HW100 has the best trigger and mag index—I think the Mutant has the edge—-will explain later.

I tuned a lot of Edguns and Crickets–even lost count—Still love them. but this Mutant Trigger and mag index is 1st class of all the air guns I tuned or owned. I will indicate all the best it has to offer in a Video.

Thanks Jaime and Steve AT WWAG, and I heard they will sell them in the Future!!

I will update in great detail of The Mutant Trigger adjustments and mag index and how to shift the cocking lever right or left—-there’s a trick to it.

I’m thinking it has a cricket reg—–will find out later after full disassemble.

later

I couldn’t help myself. I pulled mine apart last night. LOL Have fun.. No cricket reg. The surprises keep coming.

Sweet!

Thats not an issue….. that was one of my first ? to the manufacture

Looking good !

How about spare part availability ?

Here is one i got ready yesterday for a guy….

this is the first 6 shots out of the box at 950 fps 18.1’s at 40 yards….. (the 4th shot i slipped. so i gave it one more.) Im not the best of shots if i had a bench mount I’m betting it would be very tight

It does say “made in the USA”. 😯

It’s pretty warm here but we have about 7″ of snow from last night. If I am not up to ten sparrows with the .22 Cricket yet today I am mighty close. :4:

Im gonna be Honest here….

and I’m not saying this as a sales point but I’m saying this cause its the truth…. take it for what it is.

They have Perfected the cycling of the magazine. These guns cycle so smooth that if i closed my eyes and you removed the mag i could not tell the difference. Im very impressed. Ive owned a royale 500 a bobcat, and an hmx 1000 and a cricket compact….. The cocking/cycling of this gun i would put it at the top!!! its that smooth.

The Taipan I is exactly the one I remember seeing from pre-Cricket days. I really like that stock. 😯

There has been nothing but good reports of them from Ukraine and CZ who have had them for years, there have been 3 or 4 models already so they are well on their way to reliability and perfecting the design..

Heres a pic of the Taipan 1 and 2

I for one think this is a vast improvement on the over complex Cricket action, it is robust and tough without the annoying mag fiddlyness..
The added benefit of being able to switch the cocking lever to the left is a great feature.

Given the choice between a mass produce Cricket and this little gem I know what Id be buying..
Good luck with your venture Jamie, you certainly have the knowledge and hands on experience to represent and support yet another great bullpup on the market. My advice to you is this, be very patient with the import process.. the powers that be are all out to make that part hard for you but eventually things fall into place.

Now let me check my safe to see if there is room for a mutant…
