Mounting the Atlas Bipod to a Matador.
Title pretty much says it all. I’m springing for one of those schnazzy Atlas bipods. It will be holding up the front end of my R3 .25 (video coming soon). I’m getting the $279 model with the quick disconnect Piccatinny clamp.
I recognize that a simple Piccatinny rail (mounted to the forestock) is all I need. However, run a search on any tactical site for “piccatinny rail” and you get smashed with hundreds of options – most of them specialized pieces for various gun models.
I want a small (2-3″), simple rail screwed into the wood of the gun – nothing fancy, but built well. No sense clamping my ultra-expensive bipod to a POS $5 rail.
Please help a guy out! 🙂

Congrats on R3 25. Good choice on Atlas. I picked up a 6″ accessory rail with 2 mount holes from local tactical gun shop,flat backside. Works great as I have room to move bipod back to mount 160lumen Cree light or green laser to rail up front for nIght time work 🙂

Glad you decided on the atlas , you’ll love it! I broke drown and got one a while back and didn’t regret it. I got mine from midway , googled for a coupon found a 10% off $300 .
Got this mount with a qr sling swivel , puts me over 300

So basically the mount was free because of the 10%off. The only problem was the bottom of the rail is not flat, it’s slightly concave. No problem for me , I just machined it down a little. May not be the one for you but it worked out perfectly for me.

Yup – a .25! I’ve wanted a 1/4 Matador ever since I reviewed that Marauder (which I still have). The thump it puts on tetrapods was too good to forget. 🙂

Dyotat100 Made me a sweet setup for my Maddog stock, way better than any of the junk I saw out there….That Atlas Bipod looks sweet, but doesn’t look $300 sweet, I am happy with my Harris
