mutant Shorty shot count in 20 and 25 fpe
No need for a Edgun Lelya (had a .22 and sold it) , Shorty Mutant has more power, shot count, 12 shot mag, and a lot quieter with match trigger. a Joy to handle not like the Lelya—so uncomfortable with the forearm holes–not a natural feeling. its a keeper and they are going fast—-may have to trade my standard to get another shorty to convert to .177 or .20 cal. I highly recommend this beauty.
shot count;
At 25fpe:
30 shots
High: 858
Low: 849
ES: 9fps
15.9g

Barrel made in Germany! 1st time I seen a barrel engrave in what country its made—I would think its a LW?

Sounds like u need a gun with a expensive barrel… Maybe look into the FX line of airguns. They’re barrels are ridiculously priced.
Dman you sound angry that I want to make sure I am receiving a quality gun. I recently purchased a Cricket with a CZ barrel for less then a Mutant 1399.00. I also recently purchased a Edgun with a LW barrel for about the same price as the Mutant. So if these barrels are so expensive why are the guns I have purchased putting them in their rifles and selling them at or less then a Mutant? I am missing you here. I don’t need one of these barrels but I need to know that the barrel I am getting is as good as these barrels or better. So please you are helping to import these guns what’s the secret? Why the bait and switch? Because that’s what it feels like to me. Read GKU post “I thought I was getting a CZ barrel this is new to me.” What’s the hush hush about? I contact you this morning about this? It is posted on here where is the information? I am not trying to bring the gun down I want to know what I am buying. It’s not a cheap purchase it’s 1500.00 delivered to my home and we read write ups on it and it changes at the last moment. No one has the info? Come on man.

and cheaply made …………..
Wonder if the new shipment of 22 standard also came with this German barrels also ?
It had me surprised to be honest, that my Shorty will not have a CZ barrel.
Kind of reminds me of that old saying in most TV/Electronic instructions, “Subject to change without notice”. 😆
Ernest seems to be getting good accuracy from what it is, not even broken in yet.
Anyhow I’ll be seeing firsthand when mines arrives.
Accuracy is not the only thing ,,,,,,,,, ,,,,,,,,, ,,,,,, ,, , it’s everything ! :winkn:

Oakey the mutant may not be for u….

I am less concerned about Earnest bad aim and more concerned with this barrel. If I am buying 1500.00 gun I want a barrel that belong in a 1500.00 gun like what we find in our Crickets EDguns and Vulcans. CZ Barrels or LOTHAR WALTHER. There in lies my concern.
It has been said time and time again: a precision air rifle will always outshoot the shooter. The reason for this, as Ernest has stated, is simply due to human error. Almost always a shooter is unable to inconsistently manage the gun’s movement following a shot cycle. Many people believe that PCPs do not recoil, but they do. If you’re a good shooter, and you have applied follow through after a shot cycle, you’ most likely found that the crosshairs have settled on a different spot and not on the original point of aim. Try to remember a time when you shot your gun and noticed the crosshairs seemed to stay locked onto the point of aim. That is an indicator that the gun moved straight back. And most likely the pellet landed directly on the POA. That is the trick to attaining those pellet-on-pellet shot groups. The challenge is finding a technique in order to consistently manage the gun’s movement. Sometimes, even a vice is unable to manage the recoil of a gun, especially if it is not secured right unless the vice has some sort of feature that will let it slide straight back like it’s on rails.
Thank you Earnest.
Here we go—I’m impress with the accuracy without me holding it–so no human error here and even used the single shot mag and a 18X scope with fine line and dots. shooting the 18.1g at 810-818 fps =26fpe
If you have a sand bag only in the front—good luck this thing is super sensitive due to its shortness.
but why not a peep from u on the Vulcan???????? 🙄
u have had the edgun, the cricket, now mutant.
the only thing u have ever said about the vulcan for the first time ever, was the mutant
was more quite at 25 fpe over the vulcan.
why no review from u on the vulcan, it just seams odd
u love bullpups like the rest of us, so what gives 🙄
I have a .22 Vulcan waiting in line for a tune—guy never even shot it–straight to me—wish they shoot and enjoy them 1st before sending it to me.
Nope. Just found on CZ forum. Instriptions are just inscriptions. You can engrave everything.
I assume you posted that picture because it says made in the usa on it ???
Do u know the story behind that?
I have nothing wrong to say about the mechanism of Taipan (maybe except for that ugly tooling marks on the air tube – maybe that was just one gun) but the barrels can come from all over the world. That small group of 5 people do not produce them. That funny inscription on the barrel looks suspicious.

No kidding Oak, MIKE sell it and get yourself a Vulcan……..
Latest and greatest, Mutant, 1500usd, 1400usd,1600usd,who know’s? First a thanks to Jamie for a adding another option, for the masses. You want the latest, get a Mutant, if you still like your cricket, keep it, edgun, keep it. 2×4’s or new 2×6’s the eye of the beholder. My personal opinion, ugly to the bone! Jamie, not personnel, but your usual attack is welcome.

Oakey Your really hooked on them CZ/LW barrels…..
Personally i could give 2 shits what barrel is in a gun as long as it can shoot to my standards…. lots of manufactures change barrel manufactures. and for various reasons.
So obviously the mutant shortys aren’t sporting a CZ like the standards … (actually i haven’t seen the std’s from this batch yet so i don’t know if they were all changed or not)
but as you can see from ernest they seem to be grouping just fine. Will give some real world groups with mine too … (tomorrow)
Im sure that the manufacture did his testing and found these to be suitable match. I inquire about the different barrels …
nobodys holding your hand telling you to buy one … so if you feel that your getting rooked over i suggest you wait and see how they perform.
just 3 or 4 months ago these guns were not even in America. first came the standards… and now the standards and shortys are available.
I’ve seen no signs of an inferior quality barrel… I think u may be blowing this all out of proportion. so just sit back and watch. if the barrels are crap don’t buy one. if they are good then get one real easy….
Remember we’ve only heard from 2 guys with these shortys so far.
