mutant Shorty shot count in 20 and 25 fpe
No need for a Edgun Lelya (had a .22 and sold it) , Shorty Mutant has more power, shot count, 12 shot mag, and a lot quieter with match trigger. a Joy to handle not like the Lelya—so uncomfortable with the forearm holes–not a natural feeling. its a keeper and they are going fast—-may have to trade my standard to get another shorty to convert to .177 or .20 cal. I highly recommend this beauty.

LW barrels are expensive. Too expensive for underground Taipan.
I think it’s more probable that your cricket is made in china….
The mutants are all made in house in ukraine by a 5 man operation. Consisting of 2 owners… and 3 workers.
I can tell you the barrels are not made PRC.

Hold on here we are talking about a 1500.00 gun here. We should know who the manufacturer of the shortie barrels are? What’s the true accuracy on the shorties are and out to what distances. My Cricket Stacks pellets at 30 yards and so does the EDgun and the Vulcan they just about stack at 50 yards too. The standard Mutants have CZ barrels awesome they are machines but what about shortie if it does not have a CZ barrel it is not the same as the Standard Mutant they are much different gun outside barrel length? Everything I hear I am jumping up and down about but groups and accuracy are about as important to me as the sound report. I have one on order but now I am concerned is this German made barrel a LW barrel?
Earnest you are old almost as old as :hoot: I am making you a special scope with a magnifying glass attached to it-it will help out with your groups. I am also making an arm rest so you don’t tremble when you shot. :biggrinn:

I like the shot count. I like the power. I like that it is quiet, I like that it is comfortable to shoot. I like that it has a 12 round mag. I like these things very much. What I am having issues with is the accuracy at 30 yards. Bull pups of today at this price shoot ragged holes or under a dime at 50 yards?
I’ll answer some of your ? your cracking me up :ugeekn:
1. its quieter then a Vulcan, cricket, Edgun in the same caliber—that’s expected being a 25fpe out of the box. but I did test the others at 25fpe before and still quieter.
2. yes 20fpe is quieter–took it to that speed for my purpose and use—just prefer that speed, after shooting 40-120fpe BP its a pleasure and relaxing.
3. the nickle group at 30y is greater then I expected with the scope I had on—the mil dot was way to big and over covering my target.
but this is my set up at 20fpe and keeping it light for backyard use. I would think a fine mil dop @18X with a vice I would be stacking them—but at 58 years old using a front rest is more challenging. everybody has a skill set in accuracy—so don’t think nickle group is a norm just my shooting skill. that’s the max range in the yard–shooting range a hours away–maybe next time over 50Y
4. LW barrel—-not sure, I would think its the Mutant MFR liability not to put “LW” stamp. some day when I take the barrel off–I my see a LW under the clamp.
Mutant had me going there for a while, It seems it only comes in 22, I want a 25, Also a CZ barrel would be a BIG plus, The Mutant falls short on my wants.

so the ugly baby is 25fpe out the box and quiet? Or does it need to be tuned down to 20fpe to be quiet? It is shooting nickle size groups at 30 yards out the box and not stacking pellets out the box? Or it is shooting nickle size groups after you tuned it down? Are these German barrels LW? Is just Baby’s coming with German made barrels or will they eventually use CZ when supply increases? Do you expect the accuracy to improve?.

I was told CZ can’t mass produce so there is a shortage. at 12fpe I was grouping nickle size groups at 30y with that large mil dot 6X leapers scope–vary happy with accuracy.
after more accuracy testing in different speed and pellet type then I can determine if it need to be vented at each baffle chamber to make the pellet more stable in flight. as of now love the sound it makes when fired—-no ping or hammer impact, sound like a well tuned springer—–thump with a deep low note but quieter—-one of the best sounding AG around, —worst is a P-ROD hands down.
was supersized it was almost as quiet as the standard Mutant—–well she was set at 32fpe. shorty is the quietest 20fpe I heard to date—you won’t believed your ears.
That’s great to hear Ernest I like the numbers safe to say I’ll just need 2 extra mags and it’ll be good to go.

If I show you a 8 shot group that has been stack at 30y—will you believe ME?? if so wait later I’ll post my best group at 30Y. need to change scope and place on a vice and just my trigger finger touching the shorty.
