Q:

Mutant Test Groups – Different Barrels

Hello Everyone,

I guess I need to spend more time on the Forums. Here is another post that I copied.

I am now retired from the Airgun Retail business and find myself with time for FUN projects.

I was up visiting Peter Plesinger, the former owner of TopGun Airguns up in Phoenix. He had some Taipan .22 Caliber Mutants for sale with different barrels. I decided to see what all the chatter was about regarding the different barrels being used.

The picture shows the results. Here are the conditions:
27 Yards
Slight crossing wind
Rickety bench and rest
Five shot groups and four different target
JSB 18.1 pellets – NOT LUBED

Barrels:
CZ – CZ manufactured barrels
CR – Barrels made in the Czech Republic
?? – Can’t tell if they are German or Korean barrels. Most likely Korean.

The picture is worth more than 1,000 words.
The bottom right hand group for 645 was shot off balance and my right eye being filled with shadows. I will reshoot that one when I have more time.

Click the link to get to the picture.

Have fun at the range…..

You got to follow the heart, And the pop of the 25, has my heart,
Maybe Vulcan will surprise us with a 30 :smilen:
My big arthritis fat fingers just can not handle the shoot forever 177 pups. You know fill the gun up and shoot 90 shots, For me that’s 90 sparrows
That would take two days, :smilen:
In the sport deep
Mike

Thanks for update.

I have a Vulcan 22 Rifle if interested

I will ship when I say so. On the yellow BOI I have perfect feedback.

I just want to shoot and get past all the BS

We are square.

I understand you are defending your friend, I am not in the gun business I m not defending anyone,
I once ordered a adjustable butt plate , I was charged 36 dollars shipping, When I got the box it showed shipping charges was like 6.00 , I called and was told, He had nothing to do with it , It was the shipping department, What a joke….. I fluffed it off, Lie number #1
I could care less if everyone one on site thought I Was not a Cricket owner. Or loved air rifles, or any gun for that matter!!!!!!
Hell 95% of the time I am on here its late , My day is over , I am at home on some pretty big pain pills and a little whiskey, Just so I can sleep.
All it takes for me is an honest person,
You know shoot straight with me,
Pretty much all I am going to say on the Mutant site , Little bummed out on the whole dam gun,
The 25 black synthetic stock Vulcan has caught my eye, I heard its lighter than the wood.
I just checked my Pay pal, I paid for the gun Feb 27 , I got a refund after filing with PayPal March 31

Mike

For a “retired” guy you sure seem to have an agenda

oops I am sorry I meant to say the five lies were told to me in three weeks not months. Hell it might have been four weeks,
I can look the post up and repost them , If you want me to ?
I waited until the price jumped back up and I thought all the barrel stuff had been fixed.

Mike

Steve, I placed my order on Petr’s TGAG website on Jan 28th. This was right after he’d sent me a text that he was having his sale and would update his website. We’d been texting right up to the point of my placing the order. So that was just over two and one half months ago. Ask Petr. I believe I was the first one to place an order with TGAG for his sale. Soneone else on this Mutant forum posted an order date of Jan 29 2016. I’m not trying to be argumentative here, but am stating what I know is true, and it can be verified throough Petr. Now, my gun didn’t ship until March 12.
Darryl

Mike,

I checked with Peter about your order. There was a screw up due to the fact that another Mike had ordered a Mutant.

Having been in the airgun retail business it always bothered me when customers make complaints and post them on the forums.

Here are some facts. Orders were not placed for Mutants with Peter until late February. Let’s go with Feb 22. It is not yet April 22 so less than two months have passed.

You claim that your situation has been going on for “This has been going on for three months , ” This is a copy and paste from your post.

How can it have been going on for three months. How can anyone trust you to tell the truth.

Steve

:dito: :dito: :dito: :dito: :dito:

I got a refund from Peter, So I am happy
All the fuss about the barrels , I paid 1,300 dollars that includes an extra 75 I had to pay to get a CZ barrel,,,
I was told my gun was being fitted with the barrel
I was told my gun was being test fired
I was told my gun was being boxed up for shipment
I called bullshit and ask for a refund, I was told my gun shipped out two days ago…
I demanded a tracking number as Fed ex screws up everything in my area,
This has been going on for three months ,
OOps gun not shipped !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I filed a complaint with pay pal and got a refund…….
Fuck the barrels , I hate being lied too.,
Mike :2cents:

No Steve I’m not banned from all the other forums. I was actually banned from AGN in part because they thought I was part of “your” camp.

Not to disrespect anyone here, but although I don’t own a Mutant, I would say that an extremely skilled shooter who knows his gun CAN consistently produce tight groups at long distances. Just like many of you here, I have been shooting for a very long time and have gone through great lengths to hone my shooting skills to develop and refine my technique. In many of my posts, I always emphasize that shooting skills and technique are very critical to making accurate shots. Combining these with an understanding of physics and the implementation of extreme consistency is key to precision shooting. If my Cricket, which was set to 11 FPE at the time, was (and still is) able to produce this eight-shot group at 50 yards (while waiting for the wind to completely die out), an FAC rifle should be able to do the same even past that distance.

In all my years of shooting, the realization I have come to is this: simply, to make a precision shot (when all other factors have been accounted for) the shooter must do all that he can to manage recoil in a way in which the rifle moves straight back only. And I mean STRAIGHT TO THE REAR! This is the secret to shot-to-shot precision. Being able to have and apply all the things I stated in the first paragraph allows the rifle to do this. With all due respect to everyone here, more often than not, it’s the shooter and not the barrel that is the cause of pellet spiraling, fliers, inconsistent POI, etc.

The link below takes you to a post I made some time ago about my practice shooting sessions in the seated position. I also have shared my articles on this forum, and others as well, information and tips to help out (struggling) shooters to develop their skills as well as help promote airgunning as a sport and hobby.

Cheers! 😀

I’m sorry but, who is Steve?

Keyser,

Fire up some more rumors while you are at it. I do understand why you are banned from all the other forums.

I AM RETIRED. TRUE
I live near Peter who has also sold TopGun. TRUE
I have helped him with his sale to Joe B. TRUE
I still have a collection of airguns that I am selling off. As a personal seller NOT a retailer. TRUE

Not sure about the rest of the rumors floating around.
I am the Anti-Christ.
I probably killed the Pope.
I was born on another planet.
I am a total asshole – that might be accurate.
I plotted to overthrow Europe with Schinis from the Yellow Forum.
I care about who gets elected as the next President.

I am done with you. THAT IS A FACT!!!

Go muck up somebody else’s day with your rumors and BS.

By the way – Get a life.

Steve word on the street is you’re still in the business.

Now let’s separate art from science. The “art”of shooting are the things you described, trigger control, muzzle discipline, breathing, physical condition and timing. The science is the external and internal ballistics. That would be the example you used referring to pellets etc..

In your argument you seem hell bent on comparing two unlike terms. That is shooting art vs science. You lump both into the general term “physics” In logic we call that “Faulty Comparison” but is it also more commonly known as apples to oranges.

The length of the gun does not determine its pure accuracy. I am not judging a gun based on your ability. As I stated there is plenty of scientific data that proves short barrels are just as accurate as long barrels.

http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2013/10/daniel-zimmerman/the-truth-about-barrel-length-muzzle-velocity-and-accuracy/

So back to the topic yes these guns can be capable of MOA accuracy. So far you’re the only one in this thread who has used the term “always”.

Keyser,

The physics for shooting tight groups at 100 yards are simple. If you need more we can have an engineer draw up some trajectory angle charts.

The shooter must be perfectly still and know how to control breathing and heartbeat.
The airgun must be capable of shooting said groups.
The pellets must be sized, weighed and examined for skirt consistency.
The conditions outdoors must be perfect.

If you expect every airgun that sells for around $1500 to shoot CONSISTENT one inch groups – Good Luck. That is why I no longer am in the business.

SOME customers expect one inch performance from every airgun they purchase. The forums have promoted this concept. I don’t think that any airgun is capable of one inch five shot groups at 100 yards consistently.

Not every airgun made is suited for benchrest accuracy.

BUT, that is just my opinion.
