Wowser 30shots huh fantastic!!

quote dman1114:

That’s approximately 880 fps with jsb 25.4s

:hoot:

Add one inch to that barrel. Then use a slightly larger air cylinder…not much, it won’t take much. They are SO close!!!!

30 shots ? wow, great number, great to hear that news

They did some tests for the shorty with 350mm LW barrel 6.35. 30 shots JSB1.645 268m/s 260-135Bar…

So it appears they are right in the ballpark they need to be with a short .25 caliber. I’m sure there is some power left on the table.. at the cost of air consumption.

quote Dairyboy:

I must be odd man out here I’m all for a .25 Long. More power more air better efficiency more shots. Alot more compact and lighter than my RAWs . But that also makes a point that Im not afraid of a heavy and long gun.

Count me in. I would love to get a standard or a long.

Your not the odd man out alone, I too want a long and for the same reasons. It will work just fine for me.

Is there any difference in accuracy between the LW and CZ barrels?

:hoot:

I can’t believe anyone can outshoot either of those barrels! If you put the two of them in a mechanical vice, and shot both barrels, I believe you would end up with two identical, one ragged hole, groups!

No one here would be able to squeeze maximum accuracy out of either of those barrels. They have been used by thousands of air gunners and the majority of posted results have indicated they are very pleased with accuracy, and generally indicate that none of them had achieved maximum potential accuracy from their guns.

I’d trust my life with a barrel from either of those two companies. That’s my opinion, your mileage may vary.

I believe there is only one manufacture that uses a cz .25 in there guns… AGT. … from what I understand the kalibrigun uses LW in .25. ..

From what im told cz does not like to provide barrels to company’s outside the CZECH REPUBLIC…. Tamaun had to source there cz barrel from 3rd parties..

Anyhow the VETERAN will be sporting a LW pipe

LW for the .22 as well?

350mm = 13.77 inches long. A larger diameter air cylinder would allow for a more forceful valve, and larger shot count. 14 inch barrel is plenty long to get 930 fps with a .25 caliber Shorty. A stronger valve and increase of a few mm in air cylinder diameter would benefit any size of Mutant.

It can’t be that expensive to make the few changes needed.

For once I agree with the Owl. I took some measurements using my cheap digital calipers and got the following. For the length, it’s measured from end of the gauge to right where it connects into the breech.

Cricket Compact reservoir = ~38mm dia x 46.5cm length
Mutant Short = ~34.5mm x 41.5cm
Edgun Matador = ~37mm

By making the Mutant Short reservoir 3.5mm larger in diameter to match a Cricket Compact but keeping it the same length, that would increase volume by ~20%. To do this, Dimitry doesn’t need to redesign the breech for the added reservoir diameter. He just needs an offset adapter (the part that attaches the airtube into the breech) and to modify the scope rail bracket. Woodstock wise, just enlarge the in-letting and make the stock itself a few mm wider.

If the Mutant did bring a 350mm barrel .25 in , I would like to see the stock out of the box gun shooting the JSB 25.39 gr at a minimum of 920 FPS
A gun that light and short is a hunting gun, How many shots you need, I do not care about the stock, You want a fancy stock , Go order one!
I do not know anyone that has a 40 shot gun that goes out and shoots 40 Rabbits, sparrows, doves, squirrels in one hunting trip,
Now Hoot may go out and shoot 40 shoots and come back with one sparrow, But that’s a whole another story,
I spent the day with my 25 Cricket, I was only getting 920 FPS out of the crony, Down about 40 FPS strange, But I was making shots that had me saying dam, It was the Cricket, the .25 and a little me, Bunch of dead sparrows out to 48 yards, The JSB 25,39 worked there magic.
And that is why I need a 350mm short Mutant shooting at least 920 FPS, The grin factor is worth the price of admission ,
The 22 Mutant is almost a cult gun, Not because of the stock, but because of the gun that’s like a laser,
and remember, every one loves a CZ barrel, That’s a HINT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I talked to Dmitriy and he said they will make a shorty with a 350mm barrel.. he reads the forums and understands that there is interest in a shorty .25
