Q:

My California Condor .25 Cal Talon Tune special!!

Yup.. It finally showed up 😛
I placed a down payment of 50% about 12 weeks ago or so. No hurry. Here are some photos of Anthony’s service for those who have considered or wondered about his work. A couple of years ago Tony built me a Talon SS custom in .22 cal with a nice 21″ barrel. Since then I have cleaned the bore and replaced the O rings and basically enjoyed cleaning it and maintaining it in my armory safe. At that time I was so pleased I knew I would have this guy build me my Condor when I could afford it.
Well here it is from UPS to my bench.
It is what I expected too! A 1st class operation indeed! Take a peak…

He has done this a few times eh? 😯

Tony also turned me on to a cool sample of 43 grain Korean Eunjin Pellets as seen on the left paper here notice the upper 800’s! The lighter 25 grain .25 cal Kodiaks did well over 900fps with a 21″ barrel. Notice the group hole at 38 yards.

I placed a 16X Center Point scope on it. It feels nice and ballenced and it is plenty of scope for the $$! Good for what I am doing.
I have placed it together and I will be sighting it in very soon. Right now I just basically finsihed setting it up and making sure it feels right.

I went with the Walkonking Butt plate since I have that other cool custom butt plate on my Talon SS.
I am very pleased with it. It is adjustable and very confortable. Now I have the best of both worlds. they look good in my armory side by side.
There may come a time when they don’t exist any more.
Tony may not do this forever.
A special thanks to Talon Tunes and all the folks out here who have given me help with choosing the right pellet! I love the Kodiak in my Talon. Such a winner!

What can I say… California Condor “Im stoaked” 8)
That .25 cal with a 21″ barrel is the way to fly.

I’ll post a pic up just as soon as it comes in! 😀

That sounds a tad better than what you were originally waiting on isn’t it?

Sounds like a winner anyway. Please share a picture or two or three or or or etc… with us ok?

Well the fellow didn’t call the dealer back, so I got in touch with my buddy for the used one. Turns out is is a .25 Talon Tunes Condor with a .22 bbl as well. WooHoo. One of Tony’s = one of Tony’ super Shrouds!!! 😉

It should be by the end of the week!!!

Mike

No he isn’t out here now to my knowledge,he just came to mind as I was writing my little experience.
Yup Yup… Tony Does fine work indeed 8)

Once this friend of the family at a family funeral was bragging to me about his Gamo Whisper and how quiet it was and how he nails those squirrels out at his house. Before I could get a word in my brother steps in and said ” You should see Marc’s air gun”…

So… My My .. I still want to take it to his place for a demonstration. I didn’t bother to tell him he won’t like his Gamo afterwards. 😉

The guy that is talking smack if it’s the one I’m thinking about is a troll here every once in a while. Haven’t seen him here in a while now. He is full os shit! Period. Okas is one of his handles. 🙄

Tony does fine work!

In fact, I may be ordering a used one for a friend next week!
It is on hold but the buyer hasn’t contacted the seller as promised. I’m #2 on the list. 😀

With the length of your ordered rifle I don’t think your over scoping it with that. Because it is long. It’s a sniper rig anyway so Long is cool! Your going to have a nice rifle man! I bet it does 1000fps with that 24″ barrel on the avarage I bet.

I think I want the stock that appears to cover the tank and give some cheek rise. Is that one of Tony’s? Do you have that one, how do you like it? I will probably also get the wokkbut, they both look like they have their advantages.
I went with the 24″ barrel. I know it will be long with the shroud, but It wont really matter for me.
I don’t want to overscope the gun, but I really like the Nikko 10-50×60 Diamond Sterling. What do you think? I have the Big Airforce scope, I wish I never bought it. I have sent the scope back twice already in about six months.
thanks for all the info,
Justin

Yeah.. depending on what your pellet is actually making contact with. If you have a silent trap it is much quiter. If you hit a wooden fence it will probably go through it and make a sound or worse 😯

Or like with my brick fence it chips it pretty well and makes a cloud of brick dust. Shooting the Condor though with the shroud sort of sounds like shooting it without a shroud on a completely empty tank I think is a pretty good comparison.

You will hear the spring knock the valve and thats about it. It’s pretty tight.
I think honestly that Talon Tunes is #1. Now the world is a pretty big place and I know someplace in the world out there is a person who is probably making his own in a cool shop some place.
Then I heard of some cat talking smack here against Tony and saying yada yada yada.. and he had a picture of his work and all I saw were some cool looking what appeared to be aluminum muzzle brakes or nicely machined pices that hardly looked like something that would quiet anything. And my thought was don’t complain about Talon Tunes. Show us what you can do. I see what I have bought. It wasn’t cheap but to me worth every penny. One of a kind classic modification. Hell man I was hoping that the guy talking smack could show us what he was talking about ….
Lets see what you got.
1.How fast can yours travel
2.How quiet is yours
3.How accurate is yours…
4.What other custom features ya know… and and and…
8)

So… what butt stock did you go with guy? On my Talon I went with the cool custom Talon Tune with some rubber to it. It is awesome. Then on my Condor I noticed “Walkonking’s Butt Plates” so I asked Tony if I could have one of those. So that way I would have the best of both worlds.
It is all Metal and simple but crafty looking.
Are you going with a 21″ barrel?
Yup Yup… you will like the finished product.

DFS

I hope to have my .25cal condor by the end of the month. I’m having Tony do everything he can to it. It’s been a couple of months now, I can’t wait till i get it.
With a shroud on it, would you say the impact will be louder than the shot?

Oh yeah… I see what you mean. Regarding the scope adjustments. God I am sort of slow in my older age. 😳
I just don’t see the same anymore.
😮

My Wiener’s up!!! My Wiener’s down… 🙄

On the scope are you sure you are making the right adjustments? Do you have any pics of what you are loosening??? Hey Mike is there a reason you couldn’t just drop the Psi to get your velocity where you want it? Try 2400 to start.

Alright!! We have a winner!! 😛
Thats reall cool! The 21″ Barrel. I like mine. I took my Condor out to my friends farm this morning so after I tried nailing a few squirrels with my .17 Cal HMR I thought I would sight in my Condor and shoot it for the first time. Im not so sure about the 16X Center Point I have on it. When I loosen these alan screws on the adjustment knobs I am not too sure I like the mechanical feel to them on clicks for adjustments. I am about tempted to put my VX2 Gold Ring Leopuld 18X on it.
And today I only had about 18 of the Kodiak 30 grainers that Anthony gave me. And after that I used these Beeman silver Jet type 24 to 25 grains. So accuracy was not a green light today.
I am waiting for my Kodiaks to come in stock and ship.
But I was able to hit my targets and just get the feel of it yet. Soon I will have it dialed in where I want it.
Hey… The Cocking on the Condor is sure harder than my Talon. Is it supposed to be this hard to cock the bolt forward or am I just a Girly Man? 😯

I’ve been testing the 21″ Bbl. that Walt made for me, and at 2600 PSI she is clocking 1024 fps. with the 31 Gr. Kodiaks. 😯

I was really hoping t be in the low 900’s at least. It is performing way above my hopes! 😀

Mike <a href="” target=”_blank”>

I understand that. I have a silent trap and a metal steel trap. But I meant it is a little too loud compared to the .22 Talon. Just a little bit louder ya know. And it is more power than is needed for what I am doing.
But like at night I could do something with it and no one would hear it unless they are standing outside and notice something and even still is is suttle.
I have a brick fence. The .25 Condor makes a big whack#$@!$# When it hits it and a cloud of brick dust goes off in a direction! It turns me on!! 😯 😈
It is very powerful. My Friends .25 German Springer only clocks at 500 fps and the pellet smashes and sticks to the fence. My larger pellets almost have nothing left of them. And there is a larger chip in the fence.

Yes, safety is a priority. I shoot up to .50 cal in my yard. I use a 4’x4′ 1/4 steel safety backing, and I shoot into my homemade trap which is simply a home depot bucket with a p.t. 2×8-14″ square connected to the bottom and I have old t-shirts, jeans, socks, and soiled boxers stuffed into bucket. It works very well. Most pellets are stopped by the clothing and if they happen to make it through they will be stopped by the 2×8 and then of course the back piece of 1/4″ steel.
