My New Vulcan Tactic 25 Cal
I thought I’d share my experiences so far with my new Vulcan Tactical. I got it from Charlie at Georgia Air Guns yesterday evening. I got my bipod and Hawke SW Tac mounted on it and somewhat sighted in.
First impressions out of the box was that it felt lighter than what I was expecting after all of the speculation and dread of the weight. The finish on the metal and wood was flawless too. The wood is pretty slick so care needs to be taken when handling it.
First shots, quieter than what I was expecting. Definitely back yard friendly. I would say quieter than my Cricket 25 for sure and actually quieter than my Daystate Regal 22. It came shooting 887-898 for 45 regulated shots and then a couple off the regulator if pushed. Magazine performed perfect, fit and finish and the way it rotated into the action keeps the straight lines of the receiver solid looking. Cocking the hammer is a little rough but a couple of drops of oil helped that a lot. I figure more shooting will also get it smoothed out as well.
Accuracy, looks like it’s going to be a keeper. I had breezy wind all day but managed to keep the pellets in one of the small orange dots at sixty yards pretty easily. Hopefully tomorrow I can get some good groups going and try some Benjamin Domes as well as the Kings that I shot today. Here’s a couple of photos of it along with the shot string I gathered this afternoon.

Did you get the measurements backwards on the Kings or is it just the way it work out? I need to get some AA’s, everyone claims there a little more accurate than the Kings. Wow, the Polymags really opened up 😯

Ok quick recap on my Tactic: Shoots JSB 25’s @ 905, AA 25’s @ 907, JSB MK1’s 34’s@ 805, JSB MKII 34 @ 796. AT 25yards They all shoot less than 1/2 inch. At 50 yards they all stayed less than .6 inches
Pellet: 75 yards 100 yards
Barracuda .86 inch 1 inch
Polymag 1 inch 2.9 inch
AirArms .66 inch 1.25 inch
King 25 1.42 inch .89 inch
JSB MKI 1.2 inch 1.44 inch
JSB MKII 1 inch 1.6 inch
Had some issues with the barrel thought it was clipping, but now just thing it was screwed in too tight. Will do more pellet testing sunday and will shoot with shroud on and off and see if there is any difference. Will let you know. Have issues uploading pictures.

It’s great as far as I know. Haven’t had much time to spend shooting it with work and breezy to down right windy weather. Seems to be getting broke in though. The cocking is getting easier all the time and at least at 60yds it’s easy to keep the shots in one of the small orange dots even in the breezy conditions. Still impressed with the quietness of it and the trigger.

Just an update on the Tactic’s weight that I measured this evening. Using my wife’s WW digital strain gauge scale, weighing myself first and then with the Tactic with the Hawke SW tac on it the weight came out to be 10.4#. Not sure as to the accuracy of the scale but that’s what I got anyway.

Are the tactics magazines the same as the Vulcan?
JK, are you lubing your pellets? I lube mine and they chamber a lot smoother.
Seven days since I got the new Tactic. Seems to be getting better with time. Cocking the hammer has gotten a whole lot smoother. The only rough spot now is when you chamber the pellet. Even though my gun doesn’t have a first stage as it came set up its actually pretty predictable of when it’s going to break and I’m really liking it. Still calling it very back yard friendly as well. About the only thing that I’d like to change is the way the adjustable butt pad fits. The stock is a lot bigger than the shape of the pad so it’s kind of an eye sore. Other than that, all is well. :biggrinn:

and how easy would be to bring the Benjamin to 900 fps if they shoot.
I bet I could get the Benjamin’s to 900 with just the HS but I’m going to leave it as is for a while. It looks like a 1/4″ is all I can lower the scope and yea, for me I think it would fit me better but it’s fine where it is to.

I would get a pair of those super low weaver rings and even file the rail down at the back if it’s necessary and get that scope close to the bore
It looks like I could go with some mediums and lower it 1/4″. Filing? yikes. Other than better eye/cheek alignment what other benefits are there to having it lower?
