My New Vulcan Tactic 25 Cal
I thought I’d share my experiences so far with my new Vulcan Tactical. I got it from Charlie at Georgia Air Guns yesterday evening. I got my bipod and Hawke SW Tac mounted on it and somewhat sighted in.
First impressions out of the box was that it felt lighter than what I was expecting after all of the speculation and dread of the weight. The finish on the metal and wood was flawless too. The wood is pretty slick so care needs to be taken when handling it.
First shots, quieter than what I was expecting. Definitely back yard friendly. I would say quieter than my Cricket 25 for sure and actually quieter than my Daystate Regal 22. It came shooting 887-898 for 45 regulated shots and then a couple off the regulator if pushed. Magazine performed perfect, fit and finish and the way it rotated into the action keeps the straight lines of the receiver solid looking. Cocking the hammer is a little rough but a couple of drops of oil helped that a lot. I figure more shooting will also get it smoothed out as well.
Accuracy, looks like it’s going to be a keeper. I had breezy wind all day but managed to keep the pellets in one of the small orange dots at sixty yards pretty easily. Hopefully tomorrow I can get some good groups going and try some Benjamin Domes as well as the Kings that I shot today. Here’s a couple of photos of it along with the shot string I gathered this afternoon.

I shot these five shot groups today. The wind was 5-10 and switching around some.

and how easy would be to bring the Benjamin to 900 fps if they shoot.
I bet I could get the Benjamin’s to 900 with just the HS but I’m going to leave it as is for a while. It looks like a 1/4″ is all I can lower the scope and yea, for me I think it would fit me better but it’s fine where it is to.

How do you like the hybrid between rifle and bullpup? I like the look and the concept. I just want to know, what you think about this hybrid concept and how effective do you think it is? Are you able to get the scope lower to the bore compared to your .25 cricket? Can you adjust the cheekpiece down? I am just wondering if it is worth loosing a couple inches by not being a full on bullpup?
Overall length is the same that my Cricket 25 was(33″). I like the added stock length for the looks and the benefit of shooting off a bench. The cheek piece can be adjusted down. I don’t think the scope is any higher than my Cricket set up, at least it doesn’t feel any higher. I was looking at the scope clearance and it looks like I could drop it down a 1/4″. I think my scope rings are “highs” so maybe a set of mediums would work. It feels ok where it is but a little lower would be better for me. I think the longer shroud is definitely a benefit for lower the noise level, plus I thinkg the the added length would make it a little more stable off a bench. JMTCW though.
Do you have a vulcan? And if so how do you compare the two.
Thank you, if you scroll down through the string there were very few 1% ES’s. the 887’s-889 pulled the string down, but it is what it is. I’ll take it. This is my first Vulcan. So far very similar accuracy with the Cricket 25 I had. The Vulcan is better looking though and quieter. The Cricket beats it in shot count though. I think the Cricket’s air tube might have a little larger capacity.

Wandering the same, can you lower the cheek piece and put lower rings ? It would be more conducive to get the scope closer to the bore, how low can you get it ?

I must say someone finally made a pcp rifle. Looks great.
If mine performs that good, i will be very happy. Looks great, did you adjust the HST to get it to shoot that FPS or did it come that way out of the box? Second, where did you buy it? I don’t see a Georgia Airguns online.
Very nice looking rifle. ES over 45 shot is not bad at all.

I would get a pair of those super low weaver rings and even file the rail down at the back if it’s necessary and get that scope close to the bore
