New $210 Tuxing 4500psi compact compressor
After much deliberation I have bought a compressor to fill my PCPs and pony bottles.
I was torn between spending decent money on a Bauer JNR or just take a risk on a cheep Chinese job.
The new Altaros booster looked great but it still relies on a regular work shop compressor to operate which would mean I would have to spend more money upgrading my current workshop cheapo or it would soon let me down.
So after searching many cheap Chinese compressors I found this one that is very well priced and fairly new to the market.

I had no real need to fill 12ltr dive bottles with a compressor (which Im sure this one will do) so a lightweight will suit my needs.
It will be mainly used to direct fill my PCPs, top up my 500cc backpack bottle from 180 to 300bar and top up my 3ltr pony bottle from 180bar to 240bar.
Between them all I have more than enough air for an outing.
I had some reserves about build quality but it is a very simple unit and I had the seller pack in enough piston seals, O rings and plastic seats to rebuild the thing ten times over for a very reasonable $7 extra.
The Seller was extremely helpful and seems to know his product with full back up service parts available.
Fuxing my Tuxing looks to be very simple and it lends itself to loads of upgrades such as a larger oil/air separator.
I just received a litre of high quality Special Bauer full synthetic breathing air compressor oil which cost me a crazy $70 but there is enough for 4 services. (1000 hour intervals)
The unit arrived in New Zealand from China via TNT in a very speedy 4 days! Currently being held in customs but I hope to see it any day now.

My expectations are realistic with any Chinese purchase but the price seemed right on this one.. It is really not much more than a motorised 2 stage hand pump and keeping that in mind the price is very reasonable.
I will be using it for very short intervals not hours on end like the shoe box compressor etc require so wear and tear should be a lot less.

Both orders I tried I got the same message. Actually showed one went through and then the next day email said order closed for security reasons or make an appeal and then it asked for the pics. Said it could take 1-3 days but no freaking way I’m giving pics.

FWIW, I bought one from Sb tech a while back and it has worked flawlessly so far. I am not in the US so got a 220v version. This pump isn’t something that is going to fill my scuba take this side of Christmas but fills a 200 bottle in about four minutes.
To be honest, a hand pump sells locally for the same price as what I got this for landed and whilst I got decent synthetic compressor oil for it I couldn’t be happier.

Tried 2 diff credit cards with them. Both times they wanted me to send pics of my cc and drivers liscense. Declined both for safety reasons it says and went to eBay and paid $100 more for same compressor. Was also able to use PayPal that way. Hope I have better luck with ali.
I got my answer pretty fuxing fast. 110v is also 1.8kW. Now to decide whether or not to buy. Ali is having a 7th anniversary sale in 2 days. After $15 coupon shipped price is $360.
I am not sure if there is any credence to the claim but some have claimed that the 110v motor isn’t as powerful. I can’t find hard specs for the 110v motor. If it is also 1.8kW, or 2.4hp, then I’d doubt the claim. But since imperial motors are usually rated in hp, if they put in a 2hp for example it would have slower fill rates. Also, since the Chinese are usually best at their own stuff so I’d be more likely to trust their 220v motor running at 50hz. Mostly this is just me being picky. If the motor goes it can’t be rebuilt/replaced as easy as the compressor body.
I suppose I’ll ask the seller for a picture of the nameplate on the 110v motor. That should clear my concerns.
Why not pay a few more dollars and get the 110v and forget it???
Well, after some digging I have found very few options for a frequency drive that outputs single phase. Looks like that option is basically out the window.
Has anyone in the US gotten a 220V model and used a transformer to get your 220V with success? Even if the voltage is right the Hz will still be 60 for a motor wound for 50hz.
Basically my concern is the running the 220V motor off of a transformer in the states will cause the motor to draw more power than it is rated. Most electric motors have a 1.15 safety factor and at 60Hz we would be running at 1.2 times what it was designed for and I fear the windings getting very hot and ultimately failing.
Just as a background I am a reliability tech with a degree in electrical engineering. I am considering getting one of these units in a couple of days when the 7th anniversary sale starts but I have got to try and find a frequency drive before I do that and I am pretty sure I have some I can take from work but my reccomendation is if you live in the US I wouldn’t go the transformer route while using a 220v motor. You’ll get faster fill times but I would think that rebuilds will have to happen much faster and there is a good chance that you will fry the motor in a short period of time. However there is a possibility that it does work due to the windings having adequate insulation and cooling air. So, anybody try this and it work??

Yep my order got messed up also when I used my visa/check card had to use a real credit card. Geesh thank fully the wife had one.
I received my compressor a month ago it had a cracked front cover from shipping (thanks FedEx) and it took 3weeks to get the replacement and now I’m having problems with it building air. The 2nd stage rings are screwed up (took the head off) and I’m waiting for a response from the seller.
This is usually how things go for me. I hope you have better luck.
Found the same one on eBay for $100 more but was able to use my PayPal account. Felt well worth the extra money.
