Q:

New 25 shorty is in stop the press……

Back in black…..
Well I got my new 25 shorty here she is.

It shoots 40 fpe, it twice as loud, but not bad.
The air tube seams, just a little bit bigger in o.d.
I really like it, even though, I’ve only ran about 4 mags of ammo.
Using Air arms 25 gr pellets, it is stacking them @ 25 yards. :biggrinn:

I want to buy one but things are iffy at my work of which I’ve been for over 20 years. I was planning on getting el cheapo Yong Heng compressor but EVERYTHING is on hold right now to see what happens at work. Fuck my life.

I did see some mention of ping. I hope ya’ll can get that rectified. And do all of your with .25 Shorty’s have the ping or just some of you? My standard has zero ping. The Benjamin Armada I had awhile had a little bit of ping and I wonder how yours compares.

Anyone planning any of Donny’s ldc’s on your rigs or are you choosing to keep them factory shrouded? I’ll have to assume your shorty’s are louder than my standard. It would almost defeat the purpose of a shorty but keep in mind it’ll still be shorter with an ldc than my .25 with ldc, possibly even shorter than my Standard without ldc. I cannot shoot my AG’s without one, even though the Taipans are already pretty quiet. I know Hoot says his is near silent. I thought the same thing until I shot it with an LDC. I won’t settle for less. Actually, I can’t, not with my neighbors. I do believe they are bird lovers.

So no, no videos for me. I have decided I’m gonna stick with my Standard and be happy about it due to 50 good shots for shot count. I only have a pump and am already tired of using it so no more airguns for me for awhile.

Biz….

get one then do some sound tests.
There is some old info, here on the old shorty’s with sound.

We could see how they compare.

Just don’t ask me too send you mine!

So much so in fact, I’ll place wager Uncle Hoot will be responsible for many future converts to the Taipan…

I know MIke’s pain. I too felt I was like the last to get my Standard .25, but admittedly I was one of the late ones to commit to the purchase. Still, it was hard to read others’ enjoyment as I eagerly awaiting joining the fray.

Hoot, my man! Glad you’re over here in the Taipan forum. I have enjoyed your RAMBLINGS over in the Vulcan forum. I was saddened I might miss out on your postings so I would still venture over there for some good, provocative, entertaining as well as soothing reading. Hoot: :hoot:

  :2cents:

Thx guys.

Good to see uncle Hooter’s got one also. Saw him selling his 25 Vulcan off.
And knew he was up too no good. :suprisedn:

Donny got one too kool! That means he’ll be making a new can for the new shorty.
Poor guy, too bad he has no time too enjoy shooting his bullpups.

His wife has him chained too a lathe, only too keep her in a big ass house, with designer shoes.

Ok ok back on track with more info. :biggrinn:

It looks like they made the air tube, just a little bit bigger o.d.
The old Taipan air tubes were 14 1/2 long & 1.2085 od.
The new 25 Taipan shorty air tube is 15 1/4 long & 1.2930 o.d.

Put that with the new designed reg, and bingo amazing.
They kept the compact size of the original Shorty.
They got the mag right also it will handle the 25. Predator pellets.

I was going to try some 54 gr slugs they fit the mag, but were too tight to load them.

I shot it out side today just a fast one mag, @ 30 yards, it’s not bad with the sound.
I hear no ping?

Mike take a deep breath & come down off the ledge .

:hoot:

I have to agree with “Pimp-0“, above. The Shorty is good to go out of the box. I’m not even going to adjust the trigger.

I got a PM from ‘Ol Ratface (iride/Mike in West Texas) who was singing the blues about his package not arriving until next Tuesday…so I tried to explain to him that there were kids in China who will never even see a Mutant .25 Shorty!!! He said he didn’t give a rat’s ass about kids in China, they have their problems, and he has his!!! I guess I have to agree with him on that.

Regards,

Kindly ‘Ol Uncle Hoot:

+1 :8:

It does sound like quite the .25 Thumper!!! Hoot, that comment about the trigger is one of the very things that have sold me on one of these…

Now what I am finding hard to know how its done is the energy of coarse but, the accuracy and this much energy from this short of barrel; and still have some shot count.

I forget how long the barrel is on these shortys, but it ain’t much and they seem to be a Thumper.

Guys a Veteran in s Long .22 should be able to really burn the pellets hard and fast, as well as have the shot count with a full length barrel. Got to have one for sure.

What the hell, Everyone get there gun before me!!!!!!
I will admit, I am a S.O.B , Did you get that, Now with everyone getting there shorty’s, I am really SOB,,
OK, I turned my oxygen up now, I am doing better,
SOB = short of breath…….
Mike

I received mine as well today and have to agree the hammer slap reminds me of my .25 R3M. There is a crack with the muzzle that can easily be controlled but that hammer slap and ping is up there shooting 900 fps. Going to aim for 880 and see if I can get rid of the ping over the weekend. Need some vinyl tubings ๐Ÿ™‚

:hoot:

Attention Forum People…

I received my .25 Mutant Shorty today. Nice wood. Trigger is to die for. The gun was near silent, except for the “Ping” of the hammer hitting the valve stem. I swear I could hear no noise from the muzzle. The lever is on the left side per my request. It came with a single shot attachment in place, two magazines, and a fill probe.

Ten (10) quick shots with 25gr pellets gave me the following: 1) 890 2) 905 3) 902 4) 908 5) 911 6) 904 7) 905 8) 906 9) 911 10) 906

What’s not to like about this short string? Tune it down to 880 fps with the pellets I shoot, and all will be well with the world!

How in the living hell did he manage to squeeze this much power out of a 23″ gun and still get an honest 25 shots? HOW????

I can only fill from 200 BAR, so I’ll report more shot count results later on. Since I’m cranking it down to 880 fps, it should be around 25 shots from a 200 bar fill.

If you were on the edge, wondering if he could pull this off…well, he did. It shoots and it shoots hard!

Hoot:

PS) Just in: Five shots from a bench at 30 yards gave a single hole group 1 CM, or 5/16th “. That ain’t too bad, considering it’s roughly the size of the eye of a squirrel!!! (Or, in the words of Adolph Hitler upon being informed the Russians were two blocks away…Heilige ScheiรŸe Sherlock !!!)

IMHO the breaking in shit is just an excuse for a poor tuned rig. or a seller trying to make up for a lacking product.

I all most missed Fox’s post here with all the chrony work with the different pellets.

Fox you should be pleased to say the least.

Now serious question here guys, these new Veteran’s don’t have a breakin time frame or certain shot count to get them really dialed in?

Not that the chrony reports and the poi is bad from what Fox and others here have already posted, its just my experience with new guns is they all needed a breakin time with the barrel and the trigger assembly?

So whats the story with these?

Superb report, Fox! I’m gonna be turning up the power on my standard soon enough. Your short is shooting hotter than my standard .25 came in at. I’ll have to correct that in short order! You bastage.

All you guys getting these new shorties are all dawgggs ๐Ÿ™‚

No, just giving you guys a hard time, if I wanted one of these I too would get one. I do like to see pics and read how you guys do with them.

I am still holding out for a .22 long. I just like the better shot count possibility, and the longer barrel for more energy. The OAL of the long will still be way shorter than my Rapid mkII and sport all the specs.

After I get that, if I want a shorter pcp, I get Tony to send me one also, just in .22… I am not into a .25 air rifle just yet anyway.

But I dang sure look forward to seeing and reading about yours ๐Ÿ™‚
