Q:

New adjustable TT Top Hat data

This is an update to my post on March 8.
I am using a .22 Condor, 24 inch barrel, with a TT adjustable TH and 25.4 JSB’s

I just got the adjustable TH from TT and wanted to post my most recent results.
PW-8, 2575 psi start, large insert

886,897,901,909,906-2500psi
885,917,909,910,910-2400
915,911,913,910,905-2300
899,900,895,892,910-2220
893,883,889,888,883-2120
884,883,885,884,883-2020
875,873,874,867,861-1950
863,863,858,866,850-1850

2450 start fill and PW at 4, large insert
900,897,916,910,902-2400
901,905,902,900,900-2315
899,896,897,894,898-2195
897.894,893,890.889-2090
881,879,880,871,875-2000

My general impressions are that it is using a lot less air (maybe half of the stock TH) and flattening things out. I am going to play around with some different PW settings and the smaller insert. Another thing I noticed is that my gun consistently groups the best when the tank pressure is between 2150 and 2375 regardless of other variables. I am not drawing any conclusions about this, I just wanted to share my data.

Comments appreciated.

I’ve got a 24 in. barrel, .22 stock, hi-flo tank Condor. It’s a tough gun to get regular and accurate. Thanks to tips from Airgunsoftulsa, It’s slowly getting to decent groups.

I’m not there yet, but am getting 3/4-1 inch groups at 45 yds, for 20-30 shots. This is using Baracuda Match 21.3 gr, which are a little tight in the barrel, 5.52mm. The extra weight and drag helps. It’s important to center these pellets carefully before you push them in, perhaps more so due to the tighter fit.

Stock TH is set to .081 in. and the best operating pressures are between 2,150-1,950 psi. PW set to 4/8.

There’s also an o-ring behind the TH, 3/8 x 1/4 x 1/16 in. thick.
This info is from yesterday. It’s raining this weekend, so shooting is out. As soon as Dyotat is ready, this Condor is going to him to get modified for slugs and Kings in .25. Shooting the Condor helps ease the waiting 😆

I am getting several 5 shot groups per string of .2 to .28 at 25 yards but the groups on the other side of those open up a bit to .4 to .7 or so. The gun shoots great when the psi in in a certain range and then ok out of that. All are with the 25.4 jsb.

Well, I don’t know what you are getting now, but 1/2″ is attainable. 3/4″ is typical. I have gotten a few groups of under 1/2″ at 85 yards, but I have a custom bbl.

Knifemaker-what kind of improvement could I expect with those.

I am pretty methodical and I can say for sure its using much less air. Also less noise.

Most of us have found the 18 grain JSB’s to be the most accurate, along with the 21 grain barracuda and Kodiac. (Same Pellet, different tin ).

Well, I am an idiot so I just like to see side by side comparisons so my brain can comprehend the data. If you are noticing that much of a difference in air usage that is awesome. I am thinking of getting the SS, so upgrades will be forthcoming and this one may top the list if it gives a large gain in efficiency.

Check the velocity range through the psi, its very interesting I think. I shot two long strings today with identical settings and was getting really long strings with no poi shift. I am going to play arpund with the smaller insert at higher pw settings and see what happens.

I had the pw at 0 on those strings and could not got any lower. The stock setup was way to hot. I shot about 100 rds today at a pw of 2 and got a 25-30 shot string in the high 800s and used so little air I thought it was making air! I will post that data after i do a couple other things. Thoughts?

yeah, saw that, but fill pressure and PW settings are different. Would like to see shot strings from factory TH vs. the TT one with all the same settings to see if it is actually using a lot less air

Yes, i have it in a post under my username a week or two ago under Condor topic

Did you do a base line shot string on the stock set up?
Can you post those numbers ?

I have shot some groups that are really great during the right range of tank psi. I am still playing with some variables. What other pellets are folks having success with in .22? What kind of groups should i expect? I know its not a target rifle…

You are one of the very few who have been able to get them (JSB Monsters). to shoot well. Or are they shooting well? Groups???

Thanks, also if anyone wishes to share what their sweet spot of velocity is for the JSB 25.4 it would be welcomed. Mine seems to be around the low 900s
