New Guy with new to me 25 standard
Just joined the forum today after getting a slightly used Cricket Standard 25cal a few weeks back. I’ve had a couple of Marauders which I sold to finance the Cricket and I currently own a Regal XL FAC and AA S500 FAC. I’m really pleased with the Cricket. The power and shot count is awesome. It’s currently shooting about 990fps over 55 shots from a 250bar fill down to 120 where it falls off the reg. Normally I fill to 220-230. It’ll shoot sub MOA at 50 yards some of the time. My scope is the Hawke SW 6-24X56 12 mildot. I just lowered the velocity down to about 950 to see how the accuracy is there. With the time change and bad weather I haven’t had a lot a time to evaluate the new velocity. I’m probably going to send it to Ernest and let him do a tune on it in a couple of weeks. Anyway I may be picking some of ya’ll brains for advice and information so beware..

I find that strange! When I asked Sir Ville about his youth, he told me he didn’t like women, because every time he took one out, he would end up getting shit on???? I had no idea he meant “literally”….. :suprisedn:
If it isn’t broke, don’t try to fix it. No need to vent a well working shroud. Sounds like a sweet setup! 53 shots at 915 fps…that’s really nice performance.

I sense a bit of jealousy right there …
I don’t talk about the shot count either.
I have a depinger from Ernest, I shoot is a residential neighborhood so stealth is my goal.
From 220-230, there is not need to vent the shroud it does an excellent job out the box, but if you don’t like the Ping sound get a depinger from Ernest.
53 shots is awesome, how many bar do you fill too? I get about 4 mags or 48 shots from a 200 bar fill at 896 fps

Ernest didn’t vent the shroud, the gun is quiet but he did install his last depinger design. I asked him to set the gun velocity to 915fps, JSBs perform really good a that speed, at least in my gun, Im getting 53 solid shots before it gets off the regulator
He worked on the barrel in-lead/smooth bore and crown polish
Smooth out all the internals and re-lubed
He adjusted the trigger to my liking
Also worked on the reg and change the delrin seat
And the most important he fix a leak from the bleed screw
I can really tell a big difference, I’m sending him my Edgun very soon for some TLC too!!!!! 😀
Those golden days where probably Golden Showers!!

Dear Gracklesmacker,
Great groups at 60yds!! Beware, Sir Ville started his adult life with an “Open mind and willing to experiment”, alas it has not always ended well!!

Indeed ! While in College i had this experimental lesbian period. Oh those golden days ..
Exactly ! And hence The Viper – 1/2″ in diam but still long enough so one can fold it 6 times to make it 3″ while it´s still around a Foot long.
IDIOT!!! 1/2″ / 6 = .3″ ……..:banghead: “Folding” something compresses it, not expands it! Thus, one must divide, not multiply, the product dividend thingee.
Kind regards,

PS: In 1965, Finland launched a moon probe that only made it as far as a field in Estonia. They spent six months thinking they had discovered life on the moon, until an Estonian farmer pissed on their camera lens. Puzzled, they abandoned their space exploration program for lack of funding. The Germans tried to tell them a balloon couldn’t make it to the moon. Finnish physicists disagreed, and to this day swear there are sheep and goats on the moon…
PS: PS: I didn’t know you and Zonk were that close??? When did you show him the “Finnish Viper”??? Don’t deny it, how would he know it looks like a “snake”?
We´re very close, me and Zonkey. Every Saturday we gather for a good game of Tennis and then we take a long shower together. After that it´s time for a bit of Sushi ,flushed down with a couple of glasses of Wine Rosé …
How dare you ridicule the Finnish Space Program ( FSP) ?? Have you ever met an Estonian ? It´s no wonder those Astronauts thought they were talking to Aliens. You fool – i spit on your Hair Cut !! :angrymob:

If that’s your cup of tea, I would then start hi and dial it down to find your maximum that you like with your acceptable accuracy that you like.
Never try the 1025fps knowing that the shot count will suffer and with an increase muzzle report to boot.

I´ve found that once you get into that transsonic level of speed a Pellet doesn´t cope well there. I think it gets too instable or something. I stay at around 285 mps = 935 fps , plus minus 30 fps , and all my Crickets (and those two Matador .22 i owned) shoot/shot at their best.
My .177 Compact is also set at 285 mps with 10.3 gr Heavies and it shoots laser accurate and with very little deviation from 200-210B down to 110B.

I don’t really care about the shot count as long as I am as accurate as possible, I just like to know that I am as efficient as possible and not wasting air. I like to play with my reg and play with different settings so knowing that I am close to others shot count that have sent their Cricket to Ernest just gives me a sense that I am very close to optimal settings.
I know when I put the depinger in I lost probably 4 shots and it felt like a lot. I didn’t have a lot of ping I guess, because once I put it in I couldn’t tell much of a difference in my ear, but I did feel like my shot count suffered. I am not saying it doesn’t work, just that I felt the loss in shots over the sound. That is why I asked about the venting of the shroud. I read on here that everyone says that once the deping and vent along with covering their Cricket with closed cell foam they are silent, I haven’t tried the closed cell foam and I am not saying that I am going to, I am starting to realize that maybe I don’t even need to, it is pretty quiet, but I still like to know what works from people who have already tried it. I think I was confusing the ping with the hammer slap and muzzle report.
