New R3M Long .25 has issues upon arrival
The much anticipated R3M Long Edgun arrived today. Once I got home from work and unpacked it (great packing job), I checked the rifle over, read the manual, etc.
First thing I noticed is the walnut stock has an unattractive grayish stain, which looks like a water stain, under the fore grip. Well, OK that’s a cosmetic defect. Most stock makers wouldn’t use wood with that kind of anomaly. Character is one thing; this kinda looks like I left it in the rain. Still, it’s not functional.
The mechanical defect, so far, is the auto/self advancing mechanism does not advance the magazine fully; it misaligns the next pellet by quite a lot, enough to seriously deform the pellet. Yes, I’m pulling/rotating the handle back fully, the mag and selection lever (auto vs. manual) are correctly positioned. Tried both mags, same problem. You can tell the advancing mechanism isn’t rotating the mag fully because returning the handle forward jiggles/finishes rotating the mag into position, where it eventually lines up via the probe (after damaging any pellet’s head). Moreover, when the handle is pulled back fully, the mag does not click into position; I can use my finger to spin the mag a bit more and find the correct lining up, feel the “click”.
Disappointing, getting a new, expensive gun and finding defects right out of the box. Sure, I can manually advance pellets if I want to, but that’s not correct. Guess I’ll need to see what Tony wants me to do. Hopefully, he’ll issue a UPS call tag or send a label; I already paid to ship once. I’ll keep you all posted. Future Edgun buyers might want to see how the company handles these issues for my situation. Those of you getting the new shipment, you might want to check the advancing mechanism for correct pellet line up, in case it’s a batch issue. I got a .25 cal.

Thank you for your attention in this matter. I did watch the video. My cocking handle does not move as freely as it appears in the video. I’m pretty large and fit, working outdoors, so it isn’t weak arms 😆 .
I tried quick and slow cocking, nothing functions consistently or correctly. At the end/finish of pulling back the handle (about the final 4-5mm), it is not smooth, requiring much more effort than one would expect. The mag indexing blade and the handle come to a spot where significant resistance is felt before the complete pull for cocking is complete; this is true when no magazine is inserted. The indexing blade also does not come into final position until this last 4-5mm of pull. In all cases, the magazine does not index in a consistent fashion and usually does not line pellets up with the breech. With quick action of the cocking, the magazine is very inconsistent in positioning, making it a bit more hazardous.
Tony was sent an e-mail and he did reply promptly, suggesting I try different cocking speeds before going forward. After experimenting with all options, I think it’s safe to say there is an issue with this gun, not the technique. I recently replied to Tony, so we will see what happens.

Contact Tony and change the gun, no problem. On the other hand, just an advice you shouldn’t slowly pull the bolt, the movement should be a a kind of I do here:
In this case the mag has some innersion to move to the right possition.

I know your problem is another issue, but this is some info for the bolt action….
my edgun bolt was not very light, i need rather force to bring it back fully, but got advise from W NZ, & i disassembled the bolt assembly, put some grease (http://www.pyramydair.com/s/a/Air_Venturi_Moly_Metal_to_Metal_Paste_1_oz/3498#refId=34d511199dc357b9e7faad85631cf282) now the bolt is really really really very light even lighter than my M-Rod,

for the other issues it is belong to Tony and Eduard… hope you get your problem solved very soon my brother…
Where are you located? I would happily swap my standard with your long’ even if the wood stock isn’t pretty and I’ve got to shot one at a time.
In this thread they discuss cleaning up the action on page 2. One of the best go throughs ive seen IMHO.
I am not sure there is any logic to support this but if I actually fire mine rather than just cycling the bolt on an empty clip mine acts ok. The bolt seems to pull back cleaner and do it’s job more properly when under the load of cocking the hammer.I was going to wait till the weekend so I could be scoped up and ready for real but was concerned, I think it will come in to it. I will compare to the .22 I have coming Tuesday before I consider any alternatives.
If I just cycle the bolt back and forth for the purpose of advancing the magazine, mine is doing a little of the same thing. I am content for now to think it will wear in after some use and i am going to give it plenty real soon. I had not realized or even loaded the magazine into it until I read your post so this was news to me too. We will see, I think Ed will chime in with advice on this subject as it cannot be without him knowing something about it. It really feels like it needs loosened up with use. I’ll wait on advice but if none comes soon I will pull it apart and take a look this weekend.

Same issue with my .25 std. the mag moves CCW about 1/8″ when closing the bolt, so look like the bolts is aligning the miss alighted mag. don’t matter how I pull to bolt back—hard/slow in any combo.
anyway I love using it in manual, I can reload the mag in place, so no need to remove the mag. there is accuracy issue mostly fliers when in auto index—clipping the head or skirt or both when the mag is misaligned. So I will disassemble and brain storm the issue and post my findings/correction. Today I’m going to lower the reg pressure to shoot at 880-890fps now is 935fps shooting kings. I want the HST to max out in a given reg pressure at 880-890 with this setting its the most consistent tight shot string.
