2nd) your whole arguement or discussion about out grifting a grifter in my mind tells me you have intimate knowledge of this behaviour- but your thinking about it way too hard- what is the grift involved in simply refunding an unhappy,insecure customer his money- where is the conspiracy?The con? the Grift? I keep trying to get you to check with Jim Gaska(marmotmilitia) Etacs,etc-well respected on this forum and the Yellow- who has posted that he and Mike are good- so why do you persist in this trivial grifter pursuit? You were upfront about your past as he was in not having you to his house- fair enough on both sides- as I stated I’ve been on the Wrong side and paid long and hard to prove myself by my actions, so I understand your reaction- but Mike has nothing to prove and has increasing backup from Boi and trusted merchants he has dealt with , so let it go-Have much work to do and can’t address every concern for whatever reason- but when you for good intent or other-imply or impune a persons charachter and honesty-you should not be surprised at the reaction
He was EXPLAINING his thinking and his reason for posting the post in the Off Topic section (which I still think you do not understand correctly). Also you don’t know the details of 80’s incarceration, which are important if your going to drag it around like he is forever a “murderer”. Not only is he trustworthy he is a very cool person who was caught up in something outside of his control and it turned into a total nightmare. And if he was anything like that then he is nothing like that now.
So Gaska vouches for him, so what, it’s one person and not a universal golden stamp of approval. It’s not beyond the scope of a scam to butter up a few folks to establish a credential and then pull the rug out from under a group after doing so (and before you get your panties in a bind i’m not accusing anyone of anything just explaining the facets of what can easily be done to pull a scam).
What exactly do you think “impune” means? Because I don’t believe it means what you think it means, which is not surprising seeing that you failed to understand 80’s ‘grifter’ post entirely… 😕
Also along those lines, anyone who has been alive for more that 30 years understands the process of a scam, it doesn’t take nefarious associations or criminal activity, IT SIMPLY TAKES COMMON SENSE… If your trying to discredit 80 on this forum by pulling that type of backhanded bullshit your only going to damage your own creditability and Mike’s as well.
I suggest you be the bigger man if you can and try to see that the way things have been presented (the absolutely rock bottom price and the ‘gift’ paypal thing) can raise a few warning flags for the quantity of money involved and the product being sold. Additionally there have been more than a few scams pulled by exmilitary on veterans who just trusted them blindly, anyone who reads the news knows that one (and again I feel I have to clarify that that is not a judgement on Mike but simply COMMON KNOWLEDGE).
I emailed Mike I can just pay him. He will hold one for me since I just spent a shitload on my tune. Yea, he is waiting for the airtube as well. That’s some good shooting man! You need to take that bad boy out to 200+ down the street. I’d be doing that all day. If you are feeling ballsy go to 300 yards I know you can do it on that road you’ll just have to put the target far left so you can see it Lol. Hopefully soon I can get out there.

I just read your post after I calmed down a bit so let me address a few more things. First of all, my offer for a Free tattoo and a friendly meet still stands despite your dismantling of my words and the order in which my words were spoken during our conversation.
Your argument is based upon a foundation that does not exist! You are defending yourself but I never accused you of anything. Why then are you coming up with reasons to defend yourself?
I think I may know why you are upset. I am trying to remain level headed in all of this so let me expound:
You are correct in saying that I said, “giving me my money back will show you are on the level”. Yes, I did say this, and for this reason:
After you declined our “funshoot” meet I considered the possibility that you could be a grifter. If this were true then I had no chance of you sending me my money back, correct? As I suggested to you, “a grifter would take the money and run once cornered”, correct. So I used the brain that God gave me and figured out a way to “Outgrift” a grifter (if you were in fact on the grift). By suggesting my refund and offering you the chance to appear honest by doing so, I secured my refund. If you are a grifter then you know now that I outgrifted you as I have my money back, correct. If you are not a grifter (and I honestly don’t think you are) then my money was coming back to me regardless. Since I was not in absolute possession of an answer to that question: a grifter or not a grifter??? I created an insurance policy via my suggestion. If you are a grifter??? You fell for it hook , line, and sinker and thought you’d use me to shout it to the world how you returned my money. If you are on the up and up what I can’t understand is why are you taking my post so personal when it clearly states that I was speaking objectively, rhetorically, and for educational purposes?????
I thanked you for refunding my money publicly (which if you are honest should be perceived at face value). I also offered an objective explanation to others on “grifting 101” as a fair warning, just in case (which if you are honest in this whole deal, I would think you would appreciate me educating those “less experienced” in such matters).
In summary, if you are honest, your anger is partially justified. What is not justified is directing it a me by misconstruing the order of my words in our conversation; judging my level of sanctification (which by the way is between me and my creator…Nobody else!); and moreover trying to make me out to be a liar. If you are honest then get on with the business of being who you are and make this deal happen. If you are a grifter…well, I guess nothing else need be said.
Where do we send $ to get one of these? Mike or Steve? So confused and half asleep.

I called this person immediately as he requested thru another individual.
When he answered the phone he began to tell me how I needed him to establish credibility.
That statement set me on guard. His terms to accomplish this were to meet with me face to face and give me cash for 2 scopes. This person also told me he had been in prison for 12 years before he made his request to come to my home or go to his. I have a 1 year old daughter and a Wife that are my world
And for no reason on this earth would I ever risk putting them in harm’s way.
That is my reason for declining the invitation to have a fun shoot with this individual.
At that time He asked for a refund and stated the following.

You’ve got to be kidding me? I started our conversation by saying: “you needed me”? I don’t think so. I told you that it would set many minds at ease most of all mine. You declined to meet with me (and you had ample time to research my well established {nearly three year membership} reputations on these forums. I have spent thousands of dollars with big companies and small companies in the airgun community. I have built and sold over a dozen 22xx airguns and delivered all as stated, on time! I have never came accross–in over 2500 posts here on TAG–as “egotistical or “hypocritical” And you have some nerve quoting Mosaic law to me my man and throwing in a little NT (Christ’s own words) in-between. Hell, I’d be laughing right now if I weren’t so perturbed.
The way I see it is you now realize that perhaps it wasn’t in your best interest to decline our get together so now you and Steve and Lord knows who else are concocting this nonsensical story that attempts to undermine my credibility. Why are you vesting so much interest in justifying yourself to so many? Why can’t your reasons for not wanting to meet me be YOUR REASONS?

Yes I do have very large Gonads…bigger than most men’s. As to being “incredibly stupid”…I used to think I knew everything. I now Know that I know nothing. As aforementioned before, I did not mention anything about my being an “ex-con” until after Mike declined our get together. Being a chess player and thinking eight moves ahead, why is it that I saw you playing the angle of my mentioning my 12 years in prison as a way to dismiss the prospect of our meeting??? Why isn’t the “true” reason Mike stated (that he is a private person) not good enough. Man, Steve, I honestly did not think you or Mike to be on the grift…but your back peddling, misconstruction of words, and incessant nagging…is starting to make me wonder. Didn’t you ever watch Columbo when you were a kid? Less is more my man, plead the fifth and spare me the headache your starting to become.

My gun is with mike now, getting a full make over. Hes a straight up guy so I seriously doubt this is a scam.. Hes former military so I have more trust in him than most other people.
