Now that I have your attention.
When considering a pump for your Airforce rifle please take a look at the Hill Pump/BSA pump. It does cost more but it will last and is repairable by the owner. BSA has Hill make their pump.
Other pumps break…ALL THE TIME…and if you open them you void your warranty and the pump is worthless. You just end up buying another pump and end up spending more the the Hill Pump costs.
The Airforce Pump will break as will FX and discovery pump. The only way they will be motivated to clean up their lousy pumps is by not selling any.
This has been posted because a lot of good airgunners have been screwed by getting other pumps and have them take stop working sometimes within days of getting them.

That reminds me, one of the 3 replacement AF pumps I got leaked right away. I found the fitting nut at the top of the cylinder was very loose. That was an easy fix but eventually it quit working after a number of 3000 psi fills.
Anyone can have a bad day at work but in the warranty repair department they should have a final inspector. That day they probably had a wannabe time study guy looking over their shoulder. Warranty repairs doesn’t cause overhead, poor product design is the culprit.
The AF pump IMO may be adequate for topping off a fill from a scuba tank that has gone below the desired fill psi. But, it just didn’t hold up to my need to fill from 1800 psi to 3000 psi several times a week while following the video and instructions provided.
IMO the only way AF can stay with the present design is to include a rebuild kit and a true service manual. While they’re at it, they should offer a good service manual for each of their products. I’ve bought and used probably 30-50 manuals in the past besides having been trained by a pioneer in training technicians.
The airforce sucks.Started leaking on the first fill. My Hill comes from Pilkington next week. 😀
It sounds like a great idea but, I was wondering if the dry-pac really makes a difference.
I am brand new guys and am glad I found this site. I have only created a wish list so far. My question is does this Hill pump need any adaptors to connect to the SS or are these PCP pumps standard threadings?

Not to beat a dead pump- but the Pump that AirForce sells is not very reliable-went thru Two of them the first year owning my first
PCP (even with only filling the bottle indoors-away from dirt and all) A pump that could be rebuilt would be much more viable option for customers of Airforce.- yeah the AirForce pump is less expensive but still way over priced for its track record…..my 2cts
Thanks to this thread, I cancelled the order of an AF pump a few weeks ago and ordered a Hill pump with dry air kit.
Now, I can sell my exercise machine… 😆
Nice thing about the dry air kit is that it prevents water condensation in the tank (no need to empty it from time to time).
The screw drain on other pumps is only to remove condensation from the pump (the water vapor pumped in the tank will condense in the tank and corrode it).
Yeah he’s a house and just got a job slinging lead at the fermi 2 nuclear plant they hired him for that reason. My daughter is 5’10” 180 and set the womens high school benchpress record 16 years old 190lbs 2 times so she can pump the tank up too I am the lazy old guy that sits back and watches.
I traded my walther setup for the hill pump and it was well worth the trade it pumps from 2300-3000 fast and easy from the look of it.
I do have a question about maintaining the hill pump though how do you clean them and any other maintenence since it’s a used pump I want to get it up to par.

I can’t speak for other pumps but I love the hill pump I was amazed at how fast it went from 2300 to 3000 and my son made it look pretty easy too I should have counted the pumps but I didn’t want to over exert myself 🙂 the boy is 6’2″ 240lbs though
Hey, no Hill pumps were available when I ordered an AirForce pump. They had a 5 week delay before they would receive them and I was in a hurry figuring the exercise would do me some good.
My 1st fill up (well not quit) was at a dive shop where they said they could NOT fill it again because my new AirForce valve leaked in two places and they could only get it up to 2500 psi.
The AirForce pump arrived and I was surprised to see that the tank connection lays out straight on the floor. Ha, so at least mine won’t fall over and crack…I was able to top off the tank to 3000 psi with a lot of effort but it got a little easier as I gained strength.
On the 5th refill I had a problem with a little air leak but as the pressure rose the leak ceased. After another successful 3000 psi refill I bled the air off and set the pump aside for a couple minutes. When I went to put the pump away the handle wouldn’t go down or up very far. I let is sit overnight and the nothing improved.
The AirForce technician was so pleasant and calming that I made up a box and sent if off to them. $13 bucks for shipping and they will have it in 4 days. That wonderful technician said they will get it right out to me in probably one day. Oh well, I’ve got 3000 psi and a half full CO2 tank and a 177 x 12″ barrel I want to try out.
I hope the pump isn’t made in China but 2 other AirForce accessories I bought were MADE IN CHINA AND HAVE BEEN LESS ADEQUATE.
I hope AirForce gets off their executive gold toilet and brings the accessory business home. I bought the Rifle primarily because it is made in Texas, USA. I DO NOT BUY MADE IN AMERICA BECAUSE THAT IS PHONY TERM THAT COULD MEAN ANYWHERE IN THE WESTERN HEMISPHERE.

Question,is it just me being happy that I got a new pump,or do you really get more out of a single pump from the Hill than you do from the AF?
I just got my Hill pump Friday. Without even using it I know its a way better pump. Definitely get one. I got mine from Craig at Straight Shooters. I got it one day after placing order, but I’m also located in same state as them. You will not be dissapointed.
I plan on calling up AF to see what they can do for me.Hopefully they can just replace the broken piece.Even if they do I will still be looking into a Hill Pump.
I REALLY hardly use my Air Force Pump but tonight I figured I’d top off my tank.
As the gauge hit the 3000 mark I was about to bleed some air out when all of a sudden BOOM!!! The tank shot off the pump breaking the brass connection,leaving what appears to be a piece inside 😡 .
I tried to unscrew the piece that remained on the pump,with hopes I could just replace that part,but so far no dice.I really thought that these pumps were more sturdy/durable because they are NOT cheap,and it’s not like I’ve dropped it or anything like that.
It’s hard to believe that just air pressure broke my pump,being that they are ment to be used for just that purpose
I will definitely be looking into a Hill pump,hopefully they will be able to handle airflow like they are ment to.

I understand about the “having a bad day” excuse.I had a ’70 GTO Convt. built in the last week they made it.It’s a crap shoot, they don’t care or you get the best parts they have left.. I got good parts! 😀 😀
