Now that I have your attention.
When considering a pump for your Airforce rifle please take a look at the Hill Pump/BSA pump. It does cost more but it will last and is repairable by the owner. BSA has Hill make their pump.
Other pumps break…ALL THE TIME…and if you open them you void your warranty and the pump is worthless. You just end up buying another pump and end up spending more the the Hill Pump costs.
The Airforce Pump will break as will FX and discovery pump. The only way they will be motivated to clean up their lousy pumps is by not selling any.
This has been posted because a lot of good airgunners have been screwed by getting other pumps and have them take stop working sometimes within days of getting them.

My Airforce pump was sent back twice in less than a year along with scope. They are crap!
Waiting for my gun from Tony, and want to get the Hill pump. Is there anything I need for it to make it work with Airforce? Should I get the optional moisture filter?

IMO the pump is poorly engineered. Brass is way too soft of a metal to sustain the weight of the reservior at that angle. Even a small amount of force can shear the small screw base.
Meanwhile, since the Talon is my first PCP I bought a used scuba tank and am waiting for a shipment from Pyramid with the adapter. I only shot the Talon about 150 times and am looking forward to trying it again.
I wanted a carbon fiber but could not justify the expense after just buying the gun, pump, a new scope and other stuff right around the holidays.
I wish I had read this post before I ordered the AF hand pump. I am now looking for a used Scuba tank and will be retuning the AF punp back to PA.
Now that will be cool too because that is something your trying to do. I have a friend I work with and he was a Marine Sniper about 16 years ago in Somalia and Iraq. He always said he liked his .50 Cal Barret because it would cut down more than one target.
He said he could do up to three and four at a time depending on range. If they were lined up it would drop em.
My little spring of fate was a little accident. But most importantly a safety reminder on what your bullet can actually do.
I tried it 2 days ago with the Condor and a couple of birds but
shot too low and missed the one in the back…It will happen….
It is just a matter of time..

The squirrel on the right I was originally aiming at. Then he took off out of sight. As I waited for a minuet for him to come back or pop up,I noticed the squirrel on the left standing in some grass right next to where I saw the squirrel on the right originally. So I said “You will do” 😈
I hit him and he went down. That .17 Cal HMR just rips stuff to pieces! I have clocked it at over 2500fps. So I went over to check him out after a few minuets and to my surprise was the one I hit and that first one who darted down to the door way of his hole. The bullet went into the left squirrel and exited his left and hit the squirrel on the right and stopped.
Well I can’t say if the bullet stopped there but the second squirrel sure did.
Dambedist thing I ever did. I bet it will never happen again as long as I live. The only other single funnist thing I ever did was once when I was about 21 or 22 yeas old I saw large Jack Rabbit at work once when I was doing janitorial work. So it was about close to 30 maybe 40 yards away. So I pick up a solid dirt claud and throw it up high in the air towards this freakin Rabbit with a dream attached that I would hit it right? 😕
I see the claud go off it looks good. …it’s going to be close… The rabbit stands up tall wondering what just happened…. And the dirt claud actually came down straight on top of this rabbits head and blew up with dirt going all over him!! 😯 😯 I was actually shocked. Just then my boss comes driving up in the drive way and I go running off to chase down this hit Jack Rabbit that is flopping all over in the field in the dust! The Rabbit died before I could touch him. my boss shook his head with a pissed off look on his face…..
Those are the only two most interesting kills I would say in my entire life.

Here is my life saver…It is specificaly for PCP guns but,
will charge anything you hook to it. It has an automatic
shut off and I have it set at 3,300psi…Found it used in
need of a seal kit….

Filter’s filter particulates.. filters do nothing to reduce water content..
ALL pumps come with moisture traps, Hill pumps also have the option for a “dry pac”, which isn’t a filter either, it absorbs moisture as air passes through it.
Just want to clear that up so people don’t buy a pump because its advertised as having a filter and think it has additional drying power when it doesn’t and also to let people know that ALL the pumps will remove a lot of the moisture using the water trap and bleed screw.
I have used pumps exclusively until I got a compressor…
In 2 months time I lost about 15lbs and bulked up. It is quite a
workout when you are testing and doing a lot of target
practice…..
Now the pumps are for stand buy…..I bought 2 because I
wanted to always have a backup just incase something went
wrong with either one..I also have a seal repair for the Hill
pump…I think the Hill pump is the way to go. It has the
moisture filter option and is rebuildable….I have used the
Hill about 95% of the time and have shot well over 5,000
pellets…It is still going strong with no signs of going out any
time soon….
Ok thanks guy! So you use your pump quite a bit over a SCUBA to save the air in the tanks and just pump it up to top it off to conserve air?
I was thinking and maybe a Pump wouldn’t be so bad. I have that one Pump I bought at PA. Just a Pump I guess. I never use it really. But down the road perhaps I wouldn’t mind getting a good one just so I can produce air if I have to.
Then I could incorporate it a bit more maybe to spare the tanks.
Is this right?

In my opinion, if moisture got into the tank it would quickly leave the first time you shot the gun with the muzzle facing the ground….There are plenty pumps with no air drier filters….I have a Hill pump with moisture filter and an FX 4 stage pump without and they are both great pumps….Airguns of Arizona carries FX pumps

I was just gona post about my pump that just broke when I came across this thread and thought I’d share my broken pump story here.
I REALLY hardly use my Air Force Pump but tonight I figured I’d top off my tank.
As the gauge hit the 3000 mark I was about to bleed some air out when all of a sudden BOOM!!! The tank shot off the pump breaking the brass connection,leaving what appears to be a piece inside 😡 .
I tried to unscrew the piece that remained on the pump,with hopes I could just replace that part,but so far no dice.I really thought that these pumps were more sturdy/durable because they are NOT cheap,and it’s not like I’ve dropped it or anything like that.
It’s hard to believe that just air pressure broke my pump,being that they are ment to be used for just that purpose
I will definitely be looking into a Hill pump,hopefully they will be able to handle airflow like they are ment to.
