question about edgun airtube and barrel freefloat

are the barrel and air tube suppose to free float when gun is out of stock there is about an eighth of an inch at the breach end
between shroud at the very end of the barrel and air tube gage there is approxmentley a sixteenth of an inch . when you put the gun
back in the stock and tighten it down the very end of the barrel and air tube touch as you tighten when gun is out of stock I noticed that there is
about a Sixteenth of an inch or thirty second of play around the main piece that looks like a figure eight that hold the gun together along with the weaver rail
i’m sure there is suppose to be play around this area so when the gun is dissembled to allow it to slide apart
when you tighten the gun down it pushes the air tube against the barrel therefor no free play at end of barrel the gun is a new model R3M 22 CAl .
is this normal or not? kind reguards frank

My wife didn’t understand RR – women…

I added two small o-rings to the screw and it worked perfectly. The o-rings from the group buy fits tight around the screw so no play. I knew you would like that video Brant. Reminds me, I have to send you naughty video I saw today.

The washer I added was right against the bolt head so the bolt doesn’t screw in so far. Like in Roofie Roulette 😛

If you search the archives there are some fixes. I think many of the R3s did.

I fixed that issue by shortening the single stock bolt just a little. Actually I added a small washer to do it. It will screw up accuracy if it is touching.

Kinda understand ,But what I’m saying the shroud touches the air tube at the very end of the gun where the pressure gage is when tightened down in stock .

All is well.

The air cylinder and barrel are not connected. In the new model the shroud pulls the barrel against the breech when the shroud is screwed on. There is no connection to the air cylinder except back at the breech.

The air cylinder in turn must be unattached to the barrel so you can access the inside without removing the barrel.

So, the barrel and air cylinder are free floating as they are not directly attached to each other.
