Q:

Questions on Cricket .22 Standard Platform

Hey guys been a while since I was here last. I miss this place. What can I say Life is on Life’s terms.

I have an interest in this bug gun I keep hearing about Cricket. I just don’t have a full enough picture and need some help.
I am wondering how the is trigger? What’s the sound report? Is it back yard friendly out the box. And if so is it Tony Condor Quiet? I have read a few conflicting stories on sound. Is there a lot of ping coming from the action? How is the accuracy? Is it heavy or cumbersome because of the small size. I have heard it being compared to a tank? Any insight from owners of this little wonder is greatly appreciated. What are the Pro and Cons in your opinion. I have not found any real in depth video reviews of this gun if you know of any please post link.

GKU thanks. I just got the Cricket today it is very nicely balanced gun and shoulders well. It’s snowing here on East Long Island. I did take a few shots. The sound report is light but there is some PING and loud hammer slap. I will have to de-ping it. The cricket is calling me to shoot it. Tomorrow :biggrinn:

I spoke to the guy that sold it to me and he shot it while we were on the phone it was rather quiet he said his cell phone was about three inches from the action. The gun maybe fine as it is. A little tinkering here and there de-ping if even needed, maybe relieve some pressure in the shroud. Hammer slap maybe a concern with my head laying on that action. I found a thread by HOOT on cell foam but the pictures have been removed and I would like to see what the finished product looks like and the exact area the cell foam is cemented too. Anyone having any personal experience and pictures of this mod please post a link or thoughts.

After de-pinging the Air tank on both of my Crickets, I can still hear a faint ping/twang coming from the hammer/receiver area.
I’ve checked the valve spring and added an O-ring dampener to it with no added results so I removed it.
Checked all the springs inside of the receiver also.
Added nylon washers to the ends of the hammer springs and it helped a little.

Seems to be a combination of metal parts that contributing to this hammer/ping/twang ?

I was meaning to try this foam but never had the time.

My last KR had the 5.4 but no longer available, only the 5.0. Ruby Red and it has a real nice deep color when it’s sunny out. I’m hoping to keep it dent free as I’m told it takes special tools to work on Aluminum. 10 weeks to go before Dog shooting. Can’t wait.

Very nice. “The Zonk” 😆 Mine is the 5.4L and I would stick with a V8. No pellet marks in the aluminum yet? :5:

What is that color called? Race red?

Yes and it’s very nice.

Everything about it I like. I went with the 5.0 V-8 engine lots of power if you need it.
