Redneck Crazy
Hey guys
All my accessories are arriving and still no toy to put them on. One special toy is the Delta Titanium 4.5-30x-50. Special thanks to Sir Ville and George in Sweden for making that happen. $138 customs broker fees by the way….total price now $1050.00….but oh well. Any hoot….I’m going nuts over here!! Come on Tony, where’s my email? Wingman has flooded our channel with oobs of quality pics. We have new bobcats, new CF parts for roaches, talks of Belugas, fixes, and what not. And here I am with no gun and a big ol box of accessories. (That did not sound quite right).
I decided to get away to help the time go by. Look for me at the WSOP fellas. I’m leaving tomorrow for a week. Which one of my brothers plays poker? Tell me about yourselves. Uncle hoot….I know you gotta play some poker…and knife maker, you too. Brother Hemm, I bet you play flush (three card poker). Talk to me my brothers.

Good stuff Ville. There was an American company I saw but now I can’t remember who, but they sold custom side wheels in 2″ and 4″ and also had custom etching done to the wheel. Not sure how I guess you mark a wheel and send it back or something and you get it back etched in the aluminum. Plus you could design your wheel in like any pattern to either make it super light or just unique. I gave to find them on the net again.
I have a good solution for your SW queries. Check this UK company. Derek is a GREAT guy to deal with too.

Yes – that is an Atlas in the picture. I have two real Atlas bipods. 😮
26.2 ounces….and yes most similar type scopes are between 22-30 ounces. But the Swarovski 5-25×52 is a mere 17.5 ounces….and it’s an awesome scope with a great reticle too. And it was only $500 more. 🙂 But, I like the turrets better on the Delta. Not to mention parallax focus down to 25 meters vs 55 on the Swarovski. I still made the right choice I believe. But 8.7 ounces lighter would have been nice. I still haven’t bought a bipod…or I guess a rail for it to mount on either. I’m just not sure if I want the extra weight or if I will use it often. Do you have an atlas on yours?
I have the GB clone of the Laser Genetics and it works well. All of these variable high mag high feature scopes are in that 25-30 oz. arena. Basically, most of the airgun scopes I own. I only have a light one or two for dragging in the woods. What does the Delta weigh?

I’m going to hold off on night vision for now…and yea it’s a bunch of money. I bought the laser genetics….I’m going to see how that works for me before even entertaining night vision possibilities. And this Delta may prove to be near perfect. If it was 4-6 ounces lighter and had a 2″ wheel on the parallax knob it would be MUCH better. I’ll get a custom wheel made for it…so that’s not going to be an issue for long. Until I take it hunting…I won’t know for sure.
It’s a nice scope. And you’re among the first one to own one in US – if not the first one.

Have you considered some night vision stuff yet? I have been contemplating it for months but am now waiting to see what the Yukon Pulsar is like. I am using red/green LED flashlights in the meantime but the latest night vision offerings really work pretty well. Why not bust the budget – it’s nearly xmas. 😛
I haven’t got too much chance to use or test it beyond the first day. I’ve been out of town since Saturday and won’t be back till Thursday. But so far it’s looks great. Haven’t done any low light field tests so I can’t comment on that yet, but the reticle is great. Super crisp, not too thin and not thick either. I love the holdover dots in the Xmas tree pattern…very useful. I know not a lot of guys use the illumination, but I think the illumination on this model is perfect. On the lowest setting you can barely see a dot in the center….so no blindness or light pollution of any kind. I imagine I will be using the illumination frequently for night hunting and that little bitty red dot will make faster acquisition I’m sure (and not cover up the target as some models do).
BTW Steele – how do you like the clarity of the optics and the shape of the reticle thus far ??
Of course they are. Those clowns are too buzy listening telephonecalls and such.

I just do not want to spoil your pot of soup, but I think the Feds. And US customs are also following this thread and already know your intentions.
just kidding.

George is good people. Next time we’ll take the Scandinavian Mob route: From George to Ville for heavy repacking then from Ville to Dr. Steele , with a note inside that says; i’ve gone thru your scope and serviced it so now it should work as inrented” or something like that. From private person to private person thru DHL or alike.

Don’t worry about it Ville. See the box was very well wrapped, it had caution glass stickers all over it. I’m for certain the item was scanned as to verify the contents. The box was insured for at least $1000. It was sent from a business abroad. Customs agents are not dumb. The only way to avoid this process would have been if the item was sent from a residential address in plain (non retailer) packaging, and probably insuring the package for less money. Also maybe even sending it standard mail and not 3 days priority type mail. Standard mail comes over by the MILLIONS and is not scrutinized in the same manor. Having such an expensive item being shipped over for a first time thru a vendor overseas that you have not done business with before…..this is the only way to do it. But now, THERE YOU HAVE IT FOLKS, Sir Ville (from Sweden) can vouch for Astro Sweden….and now I (from Texas) can vouch for Astro Sweden. George was a pleasure to work with, he answered a bunch of my questions, he gave a GOOD DEAL, HE HAND PICKED THE SCOPE OUT FOR ME and took it out doors to make sure it was flawless, he shipped it and it arrived exactly when he said it would (with the addition of a mafia tax), and guess what…..he even sent me a camo Astro Sweden hat to boot – for free! ($12.99 retail value) (plus 15% mafia tax if ordered separately). Thank you Ville for making our introduction!

Give me a howler if you do find them. I was thinking of buying one of those levers Rowan Engineering makes for MTC’S since i think either a Genesis or Mamba lever fits straight on. Haven’t measured though… However one of those in Black wouldn’t add as much weight as a complete wheel but still give as much leverage -or even more- than a wheel would do.
A nice wheel is always a nice wheel though…
