Reduced Report .25 R3M Std

Hello guys and Happy New Year.

I know this topic has come up several times with multiple options. I thought I would share a simple DIY slip-on that I’ve been running for several months with good results.

I used stuff laying around my house. 1″ ID black poly pipe, 1/2″ OD poly pipe, 3/8″ wide self adhesive felt weather stripping, epoxy and a 1″ X 3/8″ spacer.

I simply epoxy’d the spacer in the front. This makes a decent end with adequate clearance for inaccuracy that may be inherent in a slip-on design. On a belt sander, I flattened the end of the tube so that it would slip on the end of the Edgun shroud with clearance between the slipon LDC and the air reservoir. I drilled holes equally spaced around the circumference of the LDC immediately in front of the end of the Edgun shroud. I wrapped and adhered a layer of the weather stripping to the 1/2 inch pipe. This is then a very good fit in the id of the LDC and serves as an end stop as well as baffling over the drilled holes. I finished by sanding the pipe to a cool looking suede looking finish and touched up the nylon spacer with a sharpie.

Took about 40 minutes and made from scrap pieces valued at about $3.

This will sound really goofy, but I wrapped 2″ clear packing tape around my Edgun shroud at the very end to build it up for a snug slip-On fit.

I think it looks OK and it works surprisingly well for what it is. As far as accuracy… Edgun is amazing and there is no impact at all with this LDC. If the wind cooperates it will hold 1″ at 100 yards provided I do my part.

I finally got a break in the weather and temperature. I posted a new thread here on making the .25 R3M Standard 85 dB quiet.

Hope it helps and perhaps answers some questions.

I will keep the blue oyster look!

Dear Mr. Lincoln,

May I make a suggestion?

The vent holes were a stroke of genius. It greatly enhances the ability of the ldc to reduce sound. Weirough uses “curler brushes” in their ldc’s as well.

Now, cosmetically it looks like Vildo’s dick!!! Make your cuts, as desired, wrap, glue, friction fit the ldc onto the shroud. Then, coat it with several LIGHT coats of truck bed liner. Don’t use the real cheap stuff. The key is to put the first layer on really light…it won’t even cover the entire shroud on the first coat. Wait 15-30 minutes (dependent on how warm the temperature is) and put another LIGHT coat on top of the first one. Let it dry as before, then put a third coat on, but don’t do it with a heavy hand. The key to a nice textured finish is several (5-6) coats of truck bed liner. After that, let it sit for two to three days. The bed liner “cures” over a period of several weeks to obtain it’s final durable finish, so be careful if you use it.

It will look nice. Blends well with the factory finish, and takes a substantial beating after it is fully cured.

Or…if you are attracted to the looks of Vildo’s dick, leave it as is!

Kindest regards,

Uncle Hoot:

Pfffft .. Everyone likes the look of Vildo’s Dick.

Here is what my pvc shroud used to look like.

Later on I was able to replace the white cap with black

The bottom was cut out so that it wouldn’t rub the air tube

The above are all 3 Cricket sizes.

I know what you mean Uncle. Received a Neil Clague over two weeks ago, and terrible weather here ever since. Hope to wring it out tomorrow.

Knife

I have received Hagan’s adapter and Donny’s CG LDC. Mounted both, but it’s been raining for the last few days, and is forecast to rain until the weekend. No chance to really try them out yet.

I’ll get some pictures put together and results on the efficiency on the Edgun R3M Standard in .25 caliber very soon.

:hoot: , how would you compare .25 standard with long when it comes to the noise level? I mean both factory ones without enlarged venting holes. Is the standard one noticeably louder than the long one?

In my opinion….yes! That longer shroud makes a noticeable difference.
