Q:

Ruger 10/22

Just took my 10/22 out for a spin…. What a piece of crap…..
Trigger is 50lbs pull (I thought it was on safety)… And it shoots 6″ groups at
65yds. Or I shoot 6″ groups at 65yds with it…. It will defininitely not be pulled
out before the EDgun .25 for anything beyond 20yds….

Yep, I was looking at the T2, it was $4200 in 308… 😯

Wicked rifles. πŸ˜‰

That’s the problem with them. The guns are very expensive, and parts are expensive as well, and people that don’t research it don’t realize that until it’s too late. Magazines, bolts, bolt heads, scope mounts. All of it is ultra expensive. Granted it works great, but holy crap it is hard to afford.

Granted I wouldn’t trade it for anything, but it would be nice to not have to save for 2 years to get a barrel or something (like I did for my current one) πŸ˜†

They’ve got the r93 line (which is what you see in the video) and the lrs line. They do use interchangeable barrels. So I could get a thinner barrel for my rifle, and they can get a wider forearm and big match barrels like mine for theirs. They have several different stocks in the r93 line, and then there’s the precision stock of the lrs2. The bolts (which can be bought in left or right hand) can also be swapped between them. Only thing you can’t swap are the magazines.

Their newest line, the r8, can swap its barrels between its stocks, but not with any other versions. There is also the tac2, which looks very similar to my rifle, but is slightly wider and can be bought in 338 lapua, that is limited to 4 calibers and can’t swap parts with any others.

The barrel swapping isn’t used as much in the precision rifles as it is in hunting rifles though. Blaser sells cases that hold a stock and 3 barrels with scopes attached. So you go somewhere and depending on what you are hunting, stick one of the barrels on there. And I think there are about 30 different calibers to choose from.

And on top of the bolt rifles, you can buy k95 single shots and double rifles and triple rifle/shotgun combos. But that’s another story. πŸ™‚

But that’s the wrong rifle…

Are the barrels interchangeable between models? I’d expect them to be but you don’t see that kind of thought much anymore in production… 😯

Yep, the only 22lr i’d ever buy if I bought another… Too bad you can’t get the new model in the US yet…

This one: $1400, ouch!

$350 12 years ago is definitely more now. So my cz costs between $400 and $500 2 years ago. So I’d say they are pretty close.

And yeah, anshutz are awesome for sure. I’ve played with one and everything is extremely nice.

Only .22lr I would trade my cz for, however, is a .22lr kit for my blaser. It bolts right on and I have a rimfire on my stock. However, it is $1600 last I checked, so that is why I still have my cz. πŸ˜€

A cz is more accurate than a 10/22. Don’t let other people who can’t shoot show you groups. Get someone who will let you use the rifle and shoot it for yourself.

Shit, let’s make it fair, I shoot the 223 and you get the CZ and we are shooting a spinner at 300 yards. πŸ˜‰

What’s up with giving the better rifle an advantage right out of the box? πŸ˜• Should I start calling you Rich from Mich? πŸ˜† πŸ˜† πŸ˜†

I wasn’t saying out of the box. Of course the cz will more accurate if both are out of the box, the cz costs a few hundred bucks more.

I’m talking about after you put barrels and triggers and stocks and everything else that people throw on a 10/22. It is no longer a cheaper rifle, it now costs close to what the cz does. But it still isn’t as accurate.

I agree that saying a better more expensive rifle is better is well… obvious. But once you spend a whole lot of money on a cheaper one, it is no longer a cheap gun.

I bought the 1022 at Wally world and bought the Green mountain Barrel out of Gander Mountain about 12 years ago. I have about $350 in the gun that was the price 12 years ago.
I admit the CZ out of Box and the 1022 out of box, would be in favor of the CZ, thats all I done to the 1022 one green Mountain barrel, no trigger work, no custom stock, it has the synthetic stock that came on it, and I didn’t have a special $40000 lay to work with I used a Dremel; rotor tool and it took me all day to get the stock right for the barrel to slide inside the receiver smoothly and perfectly straight, I done a fine job and it looks professional considering the tools I had, But I still have the gun and have been offered my money back plus some for it, but it’s here to stay.
No disrespect to the CZ. I had a Savage Anschutz 22 magnum years ago (1970’s) I paid $270 dollars for it back then when any other 22 magnum was any where form $40 to $100, but it shot like a dream, I could kick my self in the rear end right now for selling it. And it was out of the Box. Today that gun don’t have Savage on it, but it is still a high priced gun.

On teh range with people looking on Ive done it every day of the week . Even in breezy situations. A clay Pigeon at 100 yards is a hit every time. πŸ˜€ Thats why I don’t have the CZ, I done seen it shoot too, and it can’t beet the Rugger 1022 even at 25 yards. Facts are and evidence is, I done been there and seen it. They claim it on the ammo, and the wind, and the barrel prep, but I don’t have to use excuses, Just federal High power and dead center, point proved, and I don’t go to the range to prove it, I just like to shoot. πŸ˜€

I’d like to see that 10/22 against someone that knows how to properly shoot a cz. I have a 2″ metal spinner target that I can hit 50/50 times at 100 yards. It becomes about 3/5 hits when I start shooting shotgun shells at that range.

I’ve seen those 10/22 rifles that can be pretty accurate. But they don’t compare to a cz.

A clay Pigeon is about 2″ across, I don’t miss it at 100 yards. The 22 magnum Marlin laughs at the 2″ clay Pigeon at 100 Yards, just aim at the top of it and it will disappear every time.
I’m in no way bragging, for a 100 yard shot is nothing with my Marlin 22 magnum. The Cz would be in My gun Case right now if it could out shoot my 1022 Rugger, Heck man what do you think I’m paying for these Blowing Vipers I’m buying?
People say a Rugger 7mm Magnum isn’t accurate, but mine will shoot a 1″ group at 100 yards.
I’m am not a steady shooter I have to use a rest off of a bench, Off handed my grandson can beet me thumbs down. So for me to hit like I do with the guns I have should make it easy for people I see here shooting 1/2″ groups at 80 yards with an Air rifle? I can shoot to the specks with an air rifle, and some here says my 35 yard shot with my Corsair isn’t any good, but an Air rifle 35 yards shooting in the first circle on a shoot and see small target that will only be used on Large Game with a large Kill zone, is pretty good I think.
I’m just giving facts, I can go out in the garage and shoot a dime sized group and say I done it at 5o yards, but It won’t do me any good, so I just report what I’m actually doing. I think it’s great for a shaky guy like me with unsteady nerves. Actually I can shoot a Bow better at 35 yards and sometimes at 50 yards, but I can buy the CZ American for under $500 and I just gave over that for my Talon SS. So I don’t have to make things up.
It’s all in fun, and I love it πŸ˜€

X2 Syn’ With ss ammo my CZ is nothing special. With the Win Subs it becomes a tackdriver up to 150 yards.

Did you read the Rich in Mich post. πŸ˜†

I’m bitter because I have a 10/22… πŸ˜†

I’m just messing with ya anyways! πŸ˜† You know what’s going on when it comes to pb’s and accuracy, I can’t just agree without some type of grief. πŸ˜†

I didn’t read that thread when I responded. I was just thinking you said that because I spent more money on the cz. But I just read it, and now I get it. πŸ˜† πŸ˜€

I figured you were just messing around. I did not remember though that you had a 10/22. Now it all makes sense. πŸ˜€ You have that nice .223 now, you should go trade that 10/22 in for a nice accurate cz. πŸ˜‰

And just to rub it in, here’s what’s left of a 100 yard target from 2 days ago with the cz. Hanging from a string in a light wind, so the target was moving a bit and the bullets were also moving a little. So it took 3 shots to hit.

Picture is a bit bad, but it is half of an army man. πŸ™‚ He was actually hit twice. First few misses were slightly off, so I dialed in 1 click left, and it was dead on. First one took about half of his body out and spun him around the string a whole bunch (which looked funny) and the second shot split him the rest of the way. I think my friend still has his head, which was still attached to the string.

Oh, and you said earlier you didn’t know how people shot 1″ groups at 100 yards with supersonic ammo. Well, I can tell you exactly how to do it. Go to the range, set up a target at 25 yards and shoot a relatively bad 1″ group. Now bring that target in, write “100 yards” on it, and then post it on the internet. πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜† πŸ˜€

My cz does not like any of the supersonic I have had in it. CCI standard is what I always use, and it works well.

For a plinking rifle the 10/22 is great, but it’s kind of like supping up an old Honda Civic, no matter which tires you stick on there that little engine isn’t going to accelerate any better.. πŸ˜†

Funny you should say that. I was strongly considering putting that in my post. It’s like the guys who spend $10000 on upgrades on his honda. It makes a lot of noise now, and the spoiler is HUGE, but it still does 0-60 in about a week. I raced a g35 a while back that literally had $2000 less in mods than my entire car costs, and that is on top of the original cost of the car. After all that, he was STILL much slower than me in my stock car.

But I didn’t put that in there, because you would call me rich from mich for having a car. πŸ˜›

I will say that for a plinking rifle the 10/22 is awesome. I have been hunting with friends before in the redneck way of riding on the back of a big atv with a couple people, and they have a shotgun and a few semiauto 22lr rifles. It is great fun, armadillo runs out and everyone blasts at it with the 22’s. Now I’ll take my cz. It really has much less exciting quick shooting, noise making, redneck fun.

But I’m also usually the only one to hit anything. πŸ˜†

I am agreeing as well. πŸ˜‰ I just like to see fair fights, this one is a push over. πŸ˜†

I have a nicely tuned 10/22 and I have to say it is not anything special out past 50 yards.

20″ SS Bull barrel, volquartsen bumper, trigger, bolt handle, aluminum receiver, thumbhole stock, full float barrel. It operates flawlessly compared to a friends stock 10/22 and can out shoot it without any problem.

I found one type of ammo that it really likes and I have NO idea how people are getting 1″ groups with supersonic ammo at 100 yards.

I can get sub 1/2″ groups with SK Standard ammo at 50 yards almost all day long… If there is any type of wind groups suffer at 50 and are WIDE open at 100.

With supersonic ammo I can throw better than it can shoot. Same with my buddy’s 10/22 with supersonic ammo.

There is a lot to be said with a low power round running a fixed bolt. πŸ˜‰

I think if someone made target semi-auto ammo the 10/22 would do better at 100 yards. I feel that the cycling of the bolt takes away too much velocity from the subSOS rounds and so it’s 100 yard performance suffers greatly.

I think a stock CZ bolt would easily outshoot a 10/22 race gun with the right ammo. If you just grabbed a box of whatever off the shelf there is NO way the 10/22 race gun could outshoot the CZ.

For a plinking rifle the 10/22 is great, but it’s kind of like supping up an old Honda Civic, no matter which tires you stick on there that little engine isn’t going to accelerate any better.. πŸ˜†
