Shoebox will be here inside of two weeks
Note on Tom Kaye’s Shoebox forum, he is assembling the first 100 for shipment, I am number 54. On my shop bench, everything sets, oillesspancake compressor, moisture trap and hose and two scba tanks.
Bad news is, JDS just sent me a email that his 4500 regulator will not fit my Pygme bottle.
It is just a slight difference in money to make my own good news and get a regultor from Joe Branco like the one he sold to 80 grit, put it on the pygmee and attach a lifeline to my etac and have any out put I choose for that new 25 caliber barrel I am getting tomorrow, UPS site says it is in Portland loaded on a truck south to me for tomorrows delivery.
And maybe on the Disco pistol with the 10 shot mag I am building, thanks to my fellow enabler and addict Riverside.
If I keep up on this rate, I will have to pick things up at the UPS store, I don’t think they deliver to homeless people. I wonder if I can get all this kit under my cardboard box? ❓

I have you both beat I have been married almost 41 years, of course it took four differnet wives to stack up that amount of “Matial Bliss”.

Absolutely I do. I agree also. I don’t think Jim will be run off that easily. In many ways this board is like an “E” library, but better. You can punch in a question and get MANY many answers. I love it here. This is my home/homepage. I wake up here and go to sleep here.
Mamcrackin is absolutely correct about Mr. Shelden. Well said Mam. People like Mr. Shelden and Tom Kaye are wonderful resources for us. They help us extend our journey into the airgun sports. There are others here like WOK, and Tony who provide us with this place to meet who I for one am grateful to. There are guys like Walter and Mam who are knowledgable and share their experiences. There are lesser known members and new people who contribute also, whether they know it or not. Just asking questions is a contribution. Thanks guys.
I bought my Hammworthy compressor from Mr. Shelden on the advice of Mam…and I am pleased that I did. It wasn’t cheap, but i did get a good deal on it. I am completely satisfied with the unit, and Mr. Shelden answers any question I ask him, cheerfully.

(I’m still very curious about the volume of moisture that might be comming out of the high pressure side of the shoebox. I do not mean to knock the shoebox at all. I’m just curious. It’s the physics of compressing air keeps bugging me on this subject.)

amount of air…. Jim is a one of those guys that has more informative advice
that 99.9% of the human population…. He can spew part #’s and specs off
the top of his head faster than you can type your questions into the search
bar…. He is a no nonsense kind of guy and deals only in the facts…. No fluff
and he doesn’t mince words…… If you ever need any information about
compressors or compressed air, Jim has it in his head….. I promise you that
you would be shooting yourself in the foot if you lose this wealth of
knowledge.

I think part of the problem with all boards is trying to get across the tone of comments. Like your comments, I’m pretty sure they aren’t directed at me, but don’t know if I don’t ask.

I think both products kick ass in their individual applications.
No one is going to make any friends calling someone who may use a tank a week or weekend not a serious shooter.
Really the application for the quicker filling hpa compressor is a scuba shop or an onsite air provider at a paintball facility or meet. They cost somewhere like $4000 right? And it probably needs a decent electrical supply with a few amps behind it, would probably take a $4000 generator to use it out in the field or at a spot where there is no power.
Saw a PB college match on television, spray and pray, dump and go!
Only thing they probably used more than air was the paintballs. 😯
Run it off a gas engine, Honda, Toro Etc.
When I read your specs —
* 3 minutes to fill a one cubic inch air tank to 4500 psi or 300 bar
* 68 cubic inch paintball tank = 3.5 hours
* 80 cubic foot scuba tank to 3000 psi or 200 bar = 24 hours
* Marauder air rifle = 800cc Vulture air rifle from 2,000psi to 3,000psi in 45 minutes
the fill process is a long time for individuals who have high volume requirements. The automation shown in your design to operate a 2stage small volume pump is very ingenious. My post was not to rundown the unit because it is a low cost system that works. We have entirely different markets and several individuals have ask me questions about your unit. Their volume requirements can not be met with your compressor.
Most individuals cannot afford my compressors and these individuals that purchase my compressors do a lot of shooting with big guns (50 Caliber) or do paintball tournaments where they compete with several teams for 1 or 2 days. Scuba divers that purchase my compressors may fill 5 -10 tanks a week and many mix NITROX.
Your compressor is unique and fills a huge hole that has existed for a long time. My comments were to show the volume and time differences between a commercial compressor and your unit.

these specs were for the original “unboosted” shoebox. later research showed pre-charging the shoebox with 85-95psi air from an oilless compressor cut fill times to 1/6 of the original times.

as slow as the shoebox works it is just easy to keep an eye on tank pressure. you have to stop it every 3-4 hours to lube the piston rods( takes less than a minute), so check tank pressure then.

I had 18yrs with one and learned the lesson well… Nair shall another of those
