Shooting deer with .25 condor! Any advice?
Trying to get some advice on shooting deer with well placed head shots. I have a talon tunes fully blown condor. Any advice on pellets? Distance? Ext? Trying to get it on video. Thanks for any info.

Yes, I’m aware subject hunts are in neighboring MD but the conditions for deer population are not as radical as the state line. Weve got more deer here than you can shake a wet pecker at and getting upset about killing a few without the state mandated weapon and thus being a “poacher” by definition, well, that’s just not going to get my “holier than thou” engine started.
Bears were funny this year. A few big guys in the beginning of chase season but then just a bunch of little guys.

It’s true; VA is crawling with deer. Every week, I spook dozens out of my place. Herds broke down my first deer fence, so I’m rebuilding with stout cedar poles and orchard fence.
Inside of 50 yds., if I want quiet and I want dead, it’s a crossbow. I aim a little high of the heart. If it’s on mark, aorta or lungs gets cut; if it’s high, lungs get it, and if it’s low, heart pops. Last buck I hit was eating out of my cold frame and went a total of 22 feet. I agree with RC, head shots are risky; deer move too much.
I also dress one side then the other side, no gutting. Makes it easier to pull the carcass into a wheelbarrow and there’s no risk of puncturing the bladder 😯 (Don’t you hate it when some dummy gives you venison that reeks of piss?!) The white tails here are too big to lug around in spongy ground, so I started using the side dress method, much faster. Plus, all that anal tie-off (Hoot, your wit is needed here) with conventional gutting is time-consuming and nasty 😛 Blast the vitals, cut around the grimth. :thumb:
And get a Jo-Jan fletcher to repair the crossbow bolts which always seem to shred fletching as they pass through.

legal hunting is a requirement for you fellas as well, no?
sniping deer in urbanized locales would pretty much be poaching north or south of the 49th.

.23 cal or better in VA. Airguns allowed. Most laws here are about firearms which airguns aren’t. Here the urban deer season is from sept to mar. While you have to use bow/xbow it most spots(not all) but you can be on your suburb .25 arce lot and kill deer to your hearts content. Just can’t let the object(arrow) fly onto anothers property with out their permission. Same with airguns. Shoot all you want as long as the projectile doesn’t go onto to anothers property. With out their permission.
I know of a deer being taken with a .22 Kodiak out of a marauder. Was a heart shot IIRC.
I appreciate everyone asking. I wasn’t able to sign back on to that name. How do I combine the two names so I can get mail from both? I been doing very well with the 7 rings they worked kickass jerry. I shot the one on video and bunch more. One deer was shot and stood right back up brain dead then the second shot he took in the heart. The others all dropped in tracks even on bad front face angles I had no problem with them deflecting. My next step is a smaller gun going contact dyotat and see what he can work up. My 24 inch barreled condor is too big so im looking to keep condor frame same length but the barrel will be even with frame. Hopefully ill be able to get enough accurate power. I will need to take apart put in a smaller hiking style bag!
last I talked with him on the phone he was saying his acc, here was froze, I gave him teffys email to get it fixed, he called once after but I was at work and busy as hell and I plum forgot to get back to him, but I think that was probably over two weeks ago. he may be out hunting.
All this excellent entertainment and we still haven’t smoked out theodore!
In the Vid. he was lucky. I wonder why he didn’t have a good fixed blade on him. I shit you not, I would of bled him out right there on the spot.
Meanwhile, over on the Deer Forum, some anonymous deer posted the following: “s’cuze me, but any of you heifers know where would be the best spot to gore a stupid hunter wtih one of them new fangled black airguns? I grew up goring them in the stomach, but my cousin says if your antlers are .28 caliber or larger you can go wtih a neck gore.”
