Q:

Shroud Cover Instructions

First batch of shroud covers should be arriving to a few members today. Although the mod is easy to install, I just wanted to go over a few things.

1. Grab some painter’s blue tape. I find that this works better than electrical tape and leaves hardly any sticky residue when you take it off.

2. Removed the OEM shroud, this is also a good opportunity to give it a good wipe down.

3. Place one layer of blue tape on the front and rear of the OEM shroud. Make sure the tape is laying flat and no bubbles.

4. You do not need to overlap the tape, it is actually better not to. Also, blue tape is easy to tear off but I suggest using a scissor to get a clean cut. By tearing it, you might leave points where the shroud cover can peel back the tape.

5. After taping, pickup the shroud cover and test to see if it fits. You should not need to force it in there. It should go in with little effort yet you can feel it snugged.

6. Screw the OEM shroud back on

7. Before you slide the shroud cover on, make sure there are no debris or dirt inside the cover. This goes for every time you put the cover on as well.

8. Align the cutout so that it is facing the air tube.

9. Slowly push the cover on and keep an eye on the tape and make sure it doesn’t get peeled back. After many use it’ll start peeling so replace with new tape.

10. The cover will end where the OEM shroud ends.

11. You should still be able to see the gap between the air tube and cover.

12. That’s it, happy shooting!

Hey Zonk…That was “A” toy, not Her toy…LOL!!

Just to follow-up…Another bonus is how light this is. There is relatively little change in the balance point, and still allows for consistent cheek weld…VERY happy!

Thanks again Donny…Can’t wait to try one on the EdGun. (That’s EDGun, NOT my gun, for Zonk 😆 )

I test all shroud Mods before shipping for clipping and accuracy. I’ve noticed that some would shoot without needing adjustments while others just a tiny bit. This reminds me of Neil’s response on the Yellow once when someone asked if an LDC changes POI. His reply was that anything that changes the air flow will have some sort of impact on POI.

Here is PM from someone who had to adjust to changes in POI.

Hey Donny!

Been away on business, just back yesterday evening. Got it prepped last night, and tested this afternoon. WOW! What a difference!! Wife said it just sounded like a “Toy”…LOL! (Even took the harshness of the hammer fall out). Had to make slight adjustment to POI, but a few clicks down and left and I was back in black… :biggrinn: If you ever make one for the EdGun .25 cal…Consider me in!

Can’t thank you enough, much better than spending the $280 for Neil Clague’s. Looks sharp too…

Hey Donny,

I just wanted to let you know your creation worked out great. Very easy to install and looks good.

Tutorial was a great addition.

Amazingly quiet when shooting on empty!

I will test to see if there is any shifting of the point of impact after the Holiday.

Have a great 4th of July.

No shift on mine, dead on :5:

I got my two shrouds today Donny! Thanks!
I am impressed with the finish quality.
Now I just need the gun. Ernest sent it back Friday so it should be in the way!

Thanks Donny!

I think I have seen a porn back when with many of the same looking toys. :biggrinn:

Cricket family is complete. SECoda is getting the first order for a .177 Compact. I kept it as short as possible by only giving it a 2 inch LDC. I placed the cover on my .22 STD and surprisingly it still took out the crack and very backyard friendly.

Now your thinking…

Zonk

Just had a nice evening with a few friends shooting out to 110 yds. Two of my shooting buddies couldn’t believe how quiet the shroud cover was. Their first reaction was that the gun malfunctioned and the pellet didn’t fly out. So I let one of them shoot out to 100 yds for themselves so that they can see the pellet hit the quad target.

Also the .22 cover works on the .25 Cricket as well. Just as efficient as the .22

Because the .25 OEM already extends 2 1/2 inch from the air gauge, I am thinking about making the shroud cover 2 inches shorter so that the overall shroud only extends 6 1/2 inches from the air gauge.

quote donnyfl:

I don’t plan to shoot without it ever even if I am in the woods.

hee, hee, hee  .. … it .. ………. can’t hear it coming !

The pellet is traveling just under the speed of sound and it impacts just a fraction of this second after. So, it doesn’t matter to much with the first victim. But if there’s a mating pair they often won’t leave if they don’t hear the bang !
