Shroud I machined
I had a shroud/baffle idea I wanted to try and I received the 6061 from McMaster yesterday; here’s what I came up with. The inside of the tubing & baffles are machined for an interference fit, pressed together and held with retaining compound. The “crown” area is machined into the back side of the fat baffle, and the other end is machined for a perfect slip fit into my gun. The blue piece is just a pipe I turned down the O.D. and squared up the end real quick to use as a tool to press the baffles in place to different depths.
If I’m happy with how it works, I’ll probably paint it with some Aluma-Hyde after this weekend. I haven’t even had a chance to try it yet. I’ll get some pictues on the gun later, it only extends out from the frame 10″.

This puppy works good. I’ve been shooting all day with the Father in law on his 80′ x 150′ lot. Neighbors on 3 sides and nobody even out snooping around to see what’s going on with at least 300 rounds spent.
No clipping, no loosening, no problems at all. I took 4 videos from different distances and one comparing the Condor against my Beeman springer. I don’t know how well the video will translate the sound differences but I’ll post it up when I get back home either tomorrow night or Monday.

I know what it takes to come up with a good design, test it & market it and I’m not about to steal anyones dinner off their plate; that’s not how I roll. I have a day job so this airgun stuff is just a hobby for me. By the time I order the aluminum, box of screws (can’t get just 2-3), and spent my time making one I’d have more invested than if I’d have just bought yours. Plus it wouldn’t be coated.

Dry fire it, it should give you an idea of how much bark it has lost. It will be even quieter with a pellet going through it though.
The first time you fire it if it sounds like its broken, you did a great job ).

Thanks bud. I did my best to insure everything would line up correctly. I know the baffles are machined perfectly square and all the holes are concentric as they were turned, center drilled, and cut off from a solid bar in one “chucking” of the lathe. I also squared up the end of the pipe I used to push them in with and the O.D. was turned only few thou under the I.D. of the shroud body to prevent any serious canting. All the baffle holes are .261″, there is no play in the shroud to frame connection, and the bushings I machined hold the barrel nice & snug on center. Sighting down the gun from the tank connection I can’t see anything beyond the rifling.
With all that being said I still haven’t put a pellet through it yet. I will def. be doing a lot of shooting this weekend though and will report back with my findings.
looks damn nice! I can tell you it Will work as long as you have the strippers pressed in square, if you don’t you will soon find out with a case of the clippings. no worries if you are clipping, just open up the holes by a couple thousands at a time till it stops and you’ll be set.

Thank you. I hope it quiets the condor down enough for backyard shooting as I’m going to be shooting with the father in law this weekend. He can’t get around to good so if it’s too loud for the neighborhood I’ll have to resort to the springer all weekend.
I’m supposed to be getting my “good” computer back from being repaired at the end of the month and I’ll try to see if I can get a decent video comparison. Video clips bog down the laptop I’m on now.

Turned out a set of bronze barrel bushings as well to keep everything squared inside the gun so I don’t get any clipping on the shroud.
