Shroud is on it’s way, so……..
while I’m waiting, should I vent the front barrel bushing? Would it help with noise suppression? it’s a TSS with 12″ barrel, shroud is a GTBJay. Thanks.

I may have missed when I searched but is there something in this forum about how to vent the frame properly? I mean, one could just put a couple of holes there but I’m sure there is a more proper way to do the task.

Yes, a vented bushing will help a little, but not a huge amount.. But as Walter says, don’t do it yet. Wait till you have had the GTBJ shroud for awhile. Then you can go from very quiet to slightly more very quiet… 😆
Then you can vent the frame after that as many have had good results from that. But we are talking about very slight improvements here. Which is enough to do it I suppose…

With a 12″ barrel the the overall difference in noise by venting the bushings is probably almost nothing… Where a longer barrel may benefit because much of the volume is now barrel.
I have to agree though. One step at a time, it’s pretty easy to take the bushings off after you get the shroud. Or you could buy an extra one from AF, I think they are $5… And have the ability to swap out vented and non vented bushings… You may want a set since they appear to be different from the ones that originally came with my TalonSS… Two different bushings may create problems with sighting in the scope at various distances…
There is also another step in venting the bushings and it’s venting the frame so the air in the shroud and chassis will have a place to exit… This WILL void your warranty if you care about it…
I say yes because I do not want to keep messing with it. I vented my own bushings and drilled and tested and drilled and tested. I eventually bought a bushing off someone on here (several will make them for you at minimal cost) The vented bushing helps the GTBJ shroud works nice thats what I have. GTBJ is solid! vented bushings help , do it you will not be sorry.
When buying a mod from someone I would use it as is to determine its affect and performance before I make any changes to my gun.
Then if desired vent the bushing and note the change or affect that has.
Part of the learning is enhanced if we only make one change at a time and pay attention to the change good or not.

I can see why doing only one mod at a time would make sense..for example if one were modifying the air valve…However since this is a non-technical mod, and has been done by untold numbers of members here, I would think it logical, IF venting the bushing actually DOES help quieten it down, that it be done in conjunction with the shroud installation..Comes under the heading of benefitting from others’ experiences. Otherwise, it makes no sense to even post results of any modifications done, since each person should do it one step at a time and find out for themselves ..right or wrong ❓ ❓
