Silent Pellet Trap
I want to build a REAL silent trap for garden shooting.
I have tried the putty, cotton and fibre thing. The idea will be more of an large attenuator with sound absorbing material, like Rockwool.
Is there perhaps someone that has done this successfully or have some ideas?
Regards
Hein

Easy guys. Have you forgotten about the vat rate in the europes?
Might sound like less of a deal if uour from the old continent but the governments are the ones keeping the difference.

I’m not interested in the traps but I wonder if I can get some Euros converted to USD at that rate by you?
WTF – your € vs $ exchange rate stinks!
I was on my way to hit the “order” button when i realized your sneaky attempt to raise the USD value against the Eurodollar. Thankfully i’m a very observant customer or you could’ve fooled this wiley Finn …

Well guys, scroll up some and please consider my very own “Levi’s silent pellet trap” (patent and TM pending) for the ridiculously low *introduction price of USD 49,90 / EUR 39,90 (shipping incl.).
You can choose between 6 interior colors; purple haze, blue bond, green envy, yellow smack-down, red inferno and grey biscuit. Interior stuffing consist of two pair of ordinary jeans and for some additional moneys you can upgrade your front layer to an authentic soft-brushed extra silent skid row jean.
* As long as available in stock
soft brushed stuffing

I don’t have a hard number yet but it’s not going to be under $100 shipped

Any idea of how much they would cost?

Did test with .25 cal 55 fpe at 3 feet
I placed shot on the very top where the mulch was loose and still stopped it without a problem. It was 6″ in from front. So it will have plenty stopping power if you want to tune your gun with stopper a few feet from you

Mater
Did you get your back stop figured out.
guys ,
with the tightly packed rubber mulch ,120 foot pounds penetrates right at 6” with one shot.(22 long rifle)
400 foot pounds right at 12” ,16” to 20″ with several in same spot (40 smith and wesson) i have 30” + of mulch with 3/8″ of steele in back for this application
.
so repeated shots in the same place gets deeper of course with time, until the mulch gets moved around a little by other shots etc.
i have several traps built with the mulch and steele in the back for added security for pass throughs.
so really for standard air rifle stuff below 50 foot pounds etc, 4” of mulch with a piece of steel (or aluminum for lighter weight)in the back of the mulch for safety,
(that is heavy enough to not be penetrated with a direct shot from whatever gun you’re using ),
will work beautifully, it may hit the backing plate with several shots to same location, but the energy left after penetrating the mulch will not be enough to do anything to the plate , the plate being there for piece of mind , i think we have all shot thru our back stops at one time or another. 😳
Levi’s… both layers. I have experimented quite a bit with a few other brands for my bottom layer (such as Lee, Replay…) but I find that Levi’s/Levi’s works the best.

Q
Levi’s, Lee or Nautica??

Sweet , yep plain cardboard works great
I have several built.
an upgrade to this is to have a slightly larger box that just fits over the one you have the mulch in, that way it catches anything that spills out before repairs.
