Stock Talon SS velocities with 13 ci regulated tank
Hello all,
Just wanted to post some velocities using a regulated 13 cubic inch tank from Expert HPA. The gun is a stock Talon SS with a 12″ .177 barrel. The top hat on the Co2 adapter is set at .045. The PW is at 4. The regulated tank is set at about 1500 psi. Starting pressure was 3100 psi down to 1600 psi. I got 65 shots from a 13ci tank 😀 . I am amazed with these rifles. Here are the numbers using 10.5 grain cp heavies. The pellets were not sorted and my alignment with the chrony was not very consistant but the numbers look good. The energy is about like an R9 but this gun is much more compact and lighter. The regulated tank with Co2 adapter is about 7 ounces lighter than a standard talon tank. I am going to switch to my 12″ .22 barrel and try a string with it. I will post the results as time permits.

Not sure if you have seen my FPS strings with the 2,200psi reg but,
it is slinging 18.1gr really close to 1,050fps with a 24″ barrel…If you
are going to use a 12″ barrel, 2,500psi might be just the trick. It
just seems (and I by no means want to disagree with Tim) that
2,500psi with a 24″ barrel would put you in the 1,100fps range,
which seems to make accuracy questionable…
Shorter barrels and heavier pellets would slow it down but 18.1gr
would be hauling the mail with a 24″….

I forgot to mention I was shooting with the 12″ barrel. A 24″ would work for me out in the woods but I would have to shroud it for back yard use.

This is what I was seeing using 15.8 JSB’s at 2500psi. Was I way off base? My thinking is flatter shooting pellets with the 12″barrel. Longer barrels would mean I would have to shroud it in my urban jungle 😕
2500 Psi at the reg. and only 20 Fpe.? I don’t get it. Could you explain that a bit? Edit: I didn’t notice any errors Lol. Jeff you must be onto something 12″ barrel 20+grainers.

I ordered a 2,000psi regulated tank…Should be here next week…I am hoping and betting that you are right….

I was thinking of a 2500 psi regulator for accurate 20fpe as per Tim at mac1.

I had a little time last night to shoot my 12″ .22 barrel using the configuration above. The results were very good. I got 85 regulated shots from the little tank before it gave out. I am only posting the last ten shots of my 85 shot string. (I am lazy). 712,710,707,709,713,713,703,706,704,699. This was shot with 14.3 grain cp’s and everything else the same as my previous post.
I also put my 24″ .177 in place and was getting velocities in the 920ish range with .177 FTS’s. I did not have time to shoot a full string but will try to in the near future.
Thanks..That’s gives me hope that I can get that kind of consistancy…I would just like to have a little more power than that but,,,Accuracy is my main goal…..
That thing that Airhog is doing seems very promising. Seems you could use that tank and set the reg. to 2000 and launch 21.1 Kodiaks at 900 for quite a bit before coming off the reg.

They got 50 shots from a 48 ci tank at about that power level…..however set at 2200 and starting at 4500 psi. The increase in headspace (higher input to output differential) would lead me to think you’ll be looking at more like a dozen shots before you come ‘off reg’?
It seems to be taking a lot of air to get them moving that fast. Then again, it does on the stock Condor and there are no free lunches.
