It would be great to have something similar to Top Gear’s board “Power Lap Times” but instead of lap times, measure the 5 shot group’s ctc at 50 yards of the air rifles! 😀
It would be interesting to know which rifle performed better than the other…
For that, wouldn’t we need to use the same rifle with different shooters? 😉

Remember to clean both barrels, test them with the same pellet (preferable JSB 18.1) , and at about the same speed (preferable below 900-920 fps) .
The distance: 50 yards minimum. I know you like the wind but try to avoid it this time. We don’t want to be affected by any variables .

Mark, I have so many irons in the fire right now…
– Part 2 of that Pigeon Hunt in high wind is about 30% completed (more work than I expected – knowing how to make those shots is one thing – TEACHING how is proving to be a challenge.
– The Wolf is due to show up within a day or two. I’ll likely do my usual two-part video, although the range stuff will be shortened significantly compared to the Royale vid.
– And I have a video review/overview of the Mac1 USFT .22 Hunter planned.

Since it’s shooting the 18 JSB at 950 then it’s probably set at high, Lo should give around 900.

Turn the toggle switch to off. Hold the trigger in and turn it back on (keep holding the trigger) it will go through a number of settings. the fourth (after four quick beeps) should be the power setting. let go of the trigger and pull the trigger again, it will switch between between the 2 power settings. Power 2 should be the lower setting. Mine is a .177 and shoots better on low power. Shoot me a pm with your email and I’ll send you a copy of the instructions if you want. They are also available on the daystate website.

Ted, i would have to agree with Velocity, it’s going to be great to check some stats before i shed some money on the next rifle & that table would be great for people who wants accuracy at certain ranges.
Another option would be to give power at that range too, by using a Chrony at 50 & 100 yards & the weight of the pellet etc…
I know Chairgun provides that data but after trying it myself using a Chrony I realized that different rifles with different barrel length twist etc. gives different results.
The reason that is important is, i for example is all about accuracy at long ranges, in fact i don’t shoot anything at less than 50-60 yards, it’s just a great challenge & therefore you need both “power” & “accuracy” at say 100 yards plus.
Just a suggestion.
Example of table:
Air Ranger .25________ 50Y-( ctc=1)(ft/lb=40)____ 100Y-(ctc=2.5)(ft/lb=20)
Matador .25_________ 50Y-( ctc=.9)(ft/lb=30)____ 100Y-(ctc=1.8)(ft/lb=8)
P.S: That is going to require loads of time & patience but after seeing your videos i honestly think that if someone’s going to do it then it’s probably has to be you 😀 😀
