Tactical Lelya project – FINISHED :-)
I am now happy with my R3 stock, but still think the Lelya stock is awful, it really makes your fingers ache.
So what to do, I considered another wood one but as the gun looks like a small tactical weapon it should be treated as such.
The plan is to build an Aluminium chassis and hang off it a trigger gaurd, and a couple of Weaver rails, these will hold a pistol grip and a folding foregrip which can be used vertical or horizontal, also any excess can hold a torch or laser etc. 😎 😎 😎
As its my first real “pimp” of a gun I intend to document on here as I go so you guys can see the progress and comment as needs be.
Did some searching and found the best source of suitable parts to be FAB Defense from Israel, available in England from Airsoft suppliers – now they are a strange bunch, but thats another story.
So got as many dimensions as I could and printed out some paper mock up’s to check, after trying several options I settled on a pistol grip, a fore grip and a buttstock, total cost £102, a couple of rails and some Aluminium and the total materials comes to around £130.
The buttstock with some cutting should be able to retain its cheek riser so removing the freezer burn I so hate 😀
As the pistol and fore grips are on Weaver they could be quick release type and the buttstock could be fashioned to be quick release so this could be a really cool, really small take down if wanted, maybe MKII 💡
So below is the initial steps, its now time to start machining, i will report back as i go:

Trying to wrap my head around that stock (which is the very one I hope to mount on my SS in the near future). Are you intending to chop a chunk out of the top-front so as to attach it where you showed it?
had a morning in the workshop and started machining
the chassis now fits, its cut from a single solid bar
now it just needs some mounting holes and some “prettyfying”
next step is to fit the buttstock

Trial and error my friend…whatever works.
looked at these and sniper stocks
collapsable stocks the ones I checked didnt work because to leave enough material in the damper tube to enable it to be securly mounted and still collapse meant it was too long behind the action
because of the trigger position on the Lelya, as its a bullpup, the trigger is too far forward, average length of pull (butt to trigger) is 14″, with the buttstock I have chosen it only increases to 15″, try it yourself, anything over that length becomes very awkward to shoot 🙂
did consider just making the buttstock but quite like the FAB one, wait and see 😛
no shape changes made to Matador stock just fitting of a front rail and a leather cheek piece, I find the stock in general to be quite good – unlike the the Lelya which is all form and no function 😡
I like the concept…but that over tactical stock looks like something that belongs on a futuristic laser rifle…I think a regular collapsable AR-15 stock would look nice..simple yet affective.
Neat project. However would like to see pics of Matador stock. I also reshaped grip area on mine. Much more ambi comfortable now.

On the edge – hope this helps explain, its basically an aluminium sleeve that encases the guns working parts and off this hangs the butt/handles
Got distracted as the weather is fine, sunny and bloody cold but no wind so had an hour shooting at some paper 😀
Back to workshop fitted the chassis to the action and mounted the rails
Had to modify the pistol grip a bit to get a comfortable trigger finger position but the plastic/resin saws/grinds quite well, also had to profile a groove into the chassis
Now I can shoulder it and it feels much better than the original stock even without the buttstock yet fitted, the foldable front handle is brilliant, folded for standers, down for anything else – as its a weaver rail I could fit a handle with an integral bipod 😯 or torch 😯
Had to rethink the position of the buttstock, I was hoping to use the cheek riser but it has proved to be just too high so now fitting ths buttstock directly to the end of the chassis
