Q:

Talon accuracy problem … Help :(

I’ve just taken my Talon out for a shoot with my new chrony

This was 12 shots from 30m, and it was a bit windy. But that shouldn’t have any effect when i’m only shooting 30m?

I had higher expectations for that choked LW barrel .. Any suggestions on why my gun is shooting lousy? Pellets was 18 grain JSB exacts.

The first pellet i fired from a 200 bar fill went 880 FPS, then the next one went 870FPS ( ? ) and then it kinda settled at 870-860. The 15 shot i fired rated 851 FPS.

I was shooting with my harris prone bipod mounted, and i may have pulled 2 or 3 shots, but it should have grouped better than that ..

The first shot went a little high (scope not zeroed properly), then the 2nd shot was a bit to the left from the 1st, and the 3rd was a bit to the left from the 2nd .. Sit it started out making a string to the left .. the 4th shot was right in the same hole as the 3rd though, and then it just shot around the 3rd and 4th shot, with one low. 😕

Can it have something to do with my scope mounts being temporarily very low, so i have to press my cheek against the Air tank or something ..

Help .. I want my talon to shot well! 😥

The wind would do that.

I have to aim right over when taking shots at that range on windy days. 5-8 mph is 4 inches at that distance for me.

i am shooting a a lower FPS then you so i think that is my biggest problem

if that’s 12 shoots in the pencil circle then your doing just fine, I would say that is shooter not the talon, but the line is that you are shooting minute of squirrel head at 30 yards and you sure can’t complain about that 😉

I’ll second the pretty decent groups myself, only thing I may suggest is what you’ve already figured out, a set of higher rings that won’t make you hold the gun so tight to get your sight picture. The second I’d suggest is to try the 21gr Kodiaks, they are tried and true for these guns.

Also, depending on if you’re using your bipod or just holding the forearm, don’t apply alot of pressure with either one. A slight torque on the frame can cause a shift in POI.

Looks ok to me??!!

Tek it out to 50 yards and report back with piccys :2

What is the diameter of the bull?

Depending how windy I’d say that group is OK at 30 meters / yards

BTW the 12 shots are in that group with the ring around! – the other shots were shot with a different gun another time.
