Talon SS accuracy problems
I recently puchased a Talon SS .177. Have put approx 1000 rnds through it. Shooting at 25 yrds. Using crossman premiun pointed and crossman premier hollow point pellets. Sometimes it will put 4 or 5 shots almost in the same hole and the next shot will be 1 inch to either side high or low. The shots will stay there for 5 to 10 shots and then move somewhere else for awhile. I have tried 3 different scopes that I know are good to see if that made any difference. It did not. I have tried filling the hpa tank from 2000 to 3000 and all in between. Have also set the power from 2 to 10. Makes no difference. Removed the barrel and found the bushings to be slightly loose so I tightened them. Didnt change anything. Probably will have to send it back to the factory. I am a .22 rimfire benchrest shooter. With .22 ammo becoming harder to find i thought I would try an airgun. I was shooting the Talon from a benchrest so it should have produced some nice groups. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance!!

Concerning technique.
Had much the same problems at first. Learned that my rifle and my style of shooting required 4 things;
(will assume you’re right handed..if not, just reverse the handedness directions).
1. SOFT bags front and rear. Not down-pillow soft…but not bag-of-rice hard either. Something that gives a bit when you press on it.
2. Get the rifle lined up when it’s sitting on those bags and NOT being touched at all.
3. Curl your left arm around and grab the tank (or the butt plate) firmly.
4. Your right hand barely touches the grip…more along for the ride than anything else…and gently squeeze the trigger (OK to try the “pinch” method where only your thumb tocues the back of the grip and your trigger finger’s first pad touches the trigger face).

Suspect there are other methods that would work…the key being consistency and a real effort not to “tweak” the rifle with any lateral hand pressure (EITHER hand).
get some good pellets to start with, then ease up on your gip! these guns will slap you in the face every time to try to put a forced hold on them, they suffer from frame flex which will throw everything out of whack so cradle it as softly as you can with absolutely No lateral force.
Try some other pellets, e.g., Beeman Kodiaks and JSB Exacts.

Crosman Premiers are some of the most popular target pellets used today by many Americans. Regardless of Pellets your using I understand that your shooting well one minuet and then all of a sudden the group changes Hi or Low! Try a tad of Divers Silicone Lube at the base of your Top hat. Or at least make sure your Top hat is clean. Sounds like it might be a bit dirty or rough so it is not consistant perhaps? The same symptom occured for me once when I accedently overfilled my tank a tad.
Here is my grouping with Crosman CP’s .22 cal 14.3 grain Domed.
This is 20 yards. The top I was holding it more steady than the bottom. Notice on the bottom I was moving from side to side. I rest my rifle on shooting sticks but it still moves a tad. Each group is 5 shots

Im wondering if it’s his Top hat guys because it sounds like it might be a bit rough maybe? Unless it’s you just moving around a tad and pulling shots. Easier to do than you might think.
it is a stock Talon? No long shroud? I had to find the sweet spot on my shroud because it clipped a tad. Once I found it I can now nail it with complete confidence. This morning I shot a snail approximately 20 yards away on my brick fence. 😳 Well..there was nothing else to shoot at. No DragonFlys to slay my friends.

I love my Talon. Im having a Condor put together. I shot one squirrel with a standard Crosman CP and it killed it instantly. I hit the next three with Heavier JSB Poly tip predators and they ran off limping. So hitting em right in the sweet spot is my approach and strategy I think. Because I can shoot tighter groups with CP’s. I like that. I also seem to favor a lighter pellet traveling faster. I have had better results with that.
